Attempting to light up the world with their brightness, FallClan holds the Celebration of Lights during summer. Their camp is decorated with hundreds of fireflies that they spend the night catching before holding a grand feast and playing games. This celebration is a reminder that they never fell into darkness in the past year.
The last day of greenleaf, a day when Hystericstar began to dread the cold days ahead, but, more importantly to the rest of the clan, it was a day of celebration. It seemed like the entire day was busy, with cats preparing up until the moment of the celebration and kits chattering hopefully, sharing stories that they heard of past events and trying to guess what would happen this time. Yes, it was certainly a lively day in Fallclan, but the true excitement was just about to begin. As the sun made its descent behind the forests of Fallclan, the fireflies awoke, turning the camp into a wonderful dance of lights. The Celebration of Lights had begun.
Hystericstar, as per usual, stuck to the back of the festivities. These traditions always took a lot out of the leader, but he was sure that the disappointment of a missed celebration would hit him even harder than this liveliness. Still, he was more than happy to leave the actual celebrating to the rest of his clan, and he doubted very many of them were upset with that decision. It was nearly exactly a year ago, now, that he had come to Fallclan as the new medicine cat, and although much has changed since that more simple time, most of the clan still seemed to avoid him. Not that he could blame them, either. He wasn't exactly putting much effort in to change that.

Shieldheart and Swordstrike had started the festival together, working alongside a bug enthusiast to catch fireflies, but soon after, the pair had spread apart in the crowd. It was mostly Shieldheart's fault considering that his growling stomach had sent him on the prowl to locate the feast he'd heard so much about. He hadn't been able to find it and when he went back for his brother, he was just as sparce. Snorting at the predicament, the deputy looked around the happy bodies in the hopes of spotting Swordstrike's towering form. Instead, his gaze froze on a set of vibrant, blue eyes. Somehow, the brown tabby blended into the others just as much as she stood out. She had that odd quality about her, and before he knew it, his paws were carrying him over to her. "What's the word, Angel?" He greeted her with a casual grin. hals
Bramblekit's eyes were wide as saucers as she stared at the dancing lights. They were beutiful and even if the lights were starting to strain her eyes, she couldn't seem to pull away from them. Only as she thought of what games they might play, did the she-cat glance away to see what the other kits were doing. White dots flickered in her vision, making it temporalily impossible for her to focus on anything else. Determined to get an answer, she asked her question even if she had no clue who was nearby. "When are the games gonna start?"

"Vixenpaw, come on...!" Ravenskit squealed as he tugged on his sister's tail. The russet pelted apprentice was easily able to pull her tail out of her younger brother's mouth, running her paw along the fur to smooth it out. She glanced at the display in the center of the camp. It certainly was beautiful, but the number of cats starting to gather made her feel nervous. Instincitevly her claws flexed, making small scores into the dirt as she swallowed thickly. "You go on without me, Ravenskit-" The black tom gently swatted at her nose. He had grown quite a bit, his soft kitten fur making way for a sleekier pelt. His blue eyes were determined as he stared at her, knowing just what his sister was planning on doing. "You're not going to miss out on the celebration...! Come on it'll be fun! I promise!" Vixenpaw flicked her ears as she stared at her little brother. She could never say no to him. The apprentice gently rolled her eyes and nodded, flashing him a rare smile as she stood up. Ravenskit let out an excited laugh as he ran out into the center of the gathering, with Vixenpaw quickly running after him
Another year, another Celebration of Lights. It was festivals like this that made FallClan all the more enjoyable to Poisonrush. A lot has changed since then though it felt like. The last celebration was under different leadership but, Hystericstar willing, it won't feel any different from years past. It was always good to see his clan mates out and enjoying themselves though. That reminded him there were normally games played during this time. Curious of what they may be, he made his way toward where the reclusive leader may be.

Angelshine had never attended a festival before and her attentive gaze was captured by all the lights that lit up the camp. Cats weaved and bobbed around her, chatting happily and she could feel the excitement that surrounded the camp. A small smile tugged at her lips as she observed everyone in the clearing. For a moment, she briefly felt some peace. Something she has never felt before. So taken in with her surroundings, Angelshine failed to notice the brown and white tabby that approached her. She gave a small jump before turning to face the tom, her blue eyes bright and reflecting the energy of the camp. “Hello Shieldheart. I am not sure what you are asking? Am I suppose to respond with a specific word?” Her head tilted to the side as she responded. Flurryofstars
Tenderkit peered out at the bright and lively camp with curiousity and excitement. The Celebration of Lights was always one of his favorite festivals. He loved the way the camp lit up and shined and the bright nature made it impossible to have a bad time. The long-haired grey tom bounded forward, his head on a swivel as he tried to take in as much of the decorations as he could.
It seemed like Hystericstar should always expect the Aurulent to be the first to approach him during any festivals, as it was the same way during the Day of the Dead. Eerie golden eyes watched Poisonrush as he neared, and he nodded his head in greeting once the other tom was close enough. "Do I look like I'm sulking again or something?" he asked, remembering the conversation the two had during the last festival. Though he probably did look upset - he always did - he wasn't in as bad a mood this time around, although the large crowd certainly did put a damper on his mood, it wasn't any different than the normal Hystericstar. pLuto
Even though she had been in Fallclan since she was a kit, Pumpkinspice had only been brought in to the clan after the Celebration of Lights the previous year, so this was her first time truly witnessing the beauty of the festival. The fireflies were breathtaking, and she had heard talk of games later on in the night. First, though, was something much more important. She had never eaten a firefly before, and although there was a feast to be held after the fireflies were all captured, she couldn't resist the temptations. She hopped around the camp, energetic as a kit as she tried to catch one of the many bugs in her mouth.
Legendarypaw couldn't bring himself to care too much about the celebrations going on around him, though he plastered on a false smile to anyone who came up to him. It was a difficult time for him, a battle seemed to be raging in his heart. On one paw, he felt like the world had been ending, as his sister had been murdered not too long ago. His dear, precious sister had been the brains behind his charisma, and he felt lost without her. On the other paw, the bubbling rage threatened to overwhelm him at times, especially when he caught glimpses of Firenettle, the one who had murdered her. It all shut him down, being unable to choose between the two emotions. This was supposed to be a festival, however, and so he figured he would at least attempt to get his mind off of everything. Out of the corner of his eyes, he saw Vixenpaw and Ravenskit, and decided that the two familiar faces would be a good enough escape. Nova
"Games?" Maplekit asked, blinking away the wonder of the fireflies to focus on Bramblekit, though the lights still fluttered between them. She hadn't even noticed that there were others around her, nor had she heard about any games. "What games?" Perhaps she would be able to join in on them, although her physical condition forced her to sit back on most games the kits played normally. She would force herself, if need be, so she could get the full enjoyment out of this festival. Flurryofstars

Vixenpaw was busy making sure that Ravenskit didn't try to pull the decorations down in all his excitement. "Ravenskit, they're meant for looking not touching..." She muttered to the little black tom kit. The russet-colored apprentice looked up at the sound of paws dragging along the ground. She turned her head and saw Legendarypaw approaching. Vixenpaw swallowed thickly. She didn't know the other apprentice well enough, but he had become a familiar enough face to her. He had looked torn though, and she wondered if it had to do with what happened. The scolded herself internally. Of course, it must have. She sat down and waved at him with her paw. "Hello again." lavellan
The tom nodded before dipping his head respectfully. "You always look like that, Hystericstar, but that's not why I came to talk to you," he responded. Taking a seat next to the leader, he watched looked over the crowd. "I actually came to ask if you had anything planned for this year's celebration as far as events go."

Shieldheart shook his head at her response, but his expression remained elated. "Ah, don't worry about it," he laughed. "How are you liking the festival so far?" Even though they had only known each other for a couple of moons, he felt he understood Angelshine pretty well. One thing he wasn't sure of though, was how well she handled crowds. For her to have been startled by his appearance though, she must have been somewhat entertained. That in itself was intriguing to him given that the she-cat put all of her time into hunting and nothing else. hals
Her vision was only just returning to normal when Maplekit responded to the question. Although, she failed to get an answer. "You haven't heard about the games?" Bramblekit asked in disbelief. "That's been the buzz in the nursery all green-leaf! Where have you been!?' Squinting her eyes to show suspicion of the other kit for a few seconds, she then slumped forward dramatically. "But I don't know what games! I'm starting to think nobody does." lavellan

Angelshine couldn’t help the amusement her expression showed. She knew he’d brush off her not understanding his comment and she was grateful. At his inquiry, the warrior took a second to scan the clearing and take in the sight of the festivities. “I am enjoying myself so far. This is my first ever celebration and it is quite entertaining.” She responded, returning her gaze back to Shieldheart with a small smile. “It’s nice to see others relax and enjoy themselves for such an occasion.” She continued, her stance taking on a relaxed form as she released the tension that normally was shown. Flurryofstars
Legendarypaw put on the best smile he could muster in response to Vixenpaw. "Hello," he replied, giving a nod of his head. "Mind if I join you?" He was almost awkward, which was rather unusual for the pitch black tom. He shifted on his paws in a stark contrast to his normal, confident demeanor. Honestly, he wouldn't blame her if she didn't want him around, as he probably wouldn't even want himself around if he was in her place. He just hoped he wasn't putting her in an awkward position where she was forced to accept his company. Oh, Legendarypaw wanted to beat himself up over how unsure of anything he was being. Nova
That was actually a really good question, and Hystericstar was sure that his answer would do little to inspire any confidence in his leadership abilities. "Honestly? Coming up with it as we go here. Don't suppose you have any ideas?" He was actually still debating what games to play after the feast, and as he watched over the rest of the clan from his position, he knew that the kits were really looking forward to them. How much did he care about letting them down with some lame game? It actually came as a surprise to him that there was a small part of him that did care. pLuto
Maplekit's yellow-green gaze fell to the ground in embarrassment, and she felt her face heat up as Bramblekit questioned her. She had been in the medicine cat's den for the past few days again, and spent a good portion of the season there, but she wasn't going to say that. Especially since nothing was wrong with her to begin with, so she would just make others worry about her for no reason. "M-maybe it's a giant game of tag?" she said quickly, trying to jump back onto the topic. "Or hide and seek." Though, thinking back to the stories the apprentices brought back of how Hystericstar treated them during the exchange, if it was hide and seek no one would actually be searching for them. Flurryofstars
Poisonrush shrugged. "Nothing comes to mind, but I think the capture the flag wargame we played during the last celebration we had was a good learning experience," he mentioned. But since this was a festival for everyone, the games had to be more inclusive for young ones to enjoy as well. "But ultimately the decision is up to you." lavellan

Shieldheart hummed at her response, pleased that she was having a good time as well as agreeing with her reasoning. "Yeah, it's nice to have everyone together for stuff like this." With patrols and other clan activity, it was hard to run into certain cats on a daily basis. The festivals always provided an opportunity to check in with old and new faces without the pressure of warrior responsibilities getting in the way. Plus, most of those present seemed to have a good time. This celebration was different for the deputy though. In the past, he'd use any party as a chance to flirt with a she-cat or a few. Sometimes, he'd go out of his way to hook his brother up with someone as well. This time though, he realized the thought had never even occurred to him. Only food and Angelshine had reached his mind.
Glancing at the tabby, he wondered if she had her eye on any of their clanmates this particular evening. In good moods and with her extreme work ethic powered down for the night, this seemed the only time she might approach anyone romantically. Since his charms had failed to woo her in the past, he'd basically dubbed them as just friends. But curiosity had him dying to know if she wanted to be something more with anyone else. "So, uh," Shieldheart started with an awkward laugh. "With so many cat around, are any of them jumping out at you?" A pause before he guessed that wouldn't be enough for her to understand what he was getting at. "Or are you interested in anyone here?"
Bramblekit wondered why the other she-kit seemed so embarrassed. She'd only been teasing after all. "Tag, huh? That sounds about right. Kinda boring," she said with a shrug. "Hide n seek could be fun though. Maybe we'd lose a few kits and have more room in the nursery! It's always so crowded in there, don't you think?" Truthfully, she'd played both games a hundred times with the other kits in FallClan, but there would be the fresh element of playing at night. This was already the latest she'd been allowed up and it was kind of exhilarating. "Whatever it is, you and I should work together." lavellan

A small frown came to Hystericstar's face at the last words, his hairless tail thudding against the ground in thought. He only had a little bit of time left to decide on what games would be appropriate here, but hopefully he would be able to figure it out. Maybe they could just throw them in the caves for a bit and let everyone explore. Because that would definitely work out great. "I think I can come up with something," he finally said, although it was unknown if the words for meant for him or Poisonrush. "Is everything ready for the feast later?" pLuto
Maplekit grinned at the other kit, suddenly even more thrilled for whatever these games were. This wouldn't only be the first time she could play, but the first time playing with a friend! At least, she thought that Bramblekit was now her friend. Excitedly, the small kit nodded her head. "Yeah! We should!" Maybe she was too excited, but this day was just full of firsts for her that it was impossible to be anything else. Her gaze drifted back to the fireflies, and the cats trying to chase them. She wanted to join in, but it wouldn't do her any good to wear herself out before the games begun. Flurryofstars

"Of course.." Vixenpaw said softly. "Is... well that is to say..." She stumbled over her words as her ears twitched nervously. The apprentice was still having trouble getting over her anxious feelings when it came to speaking with other cats, but she was starting to become more comfortable around the others in her clan. She took a deep breath before she looked back over at Legendarypaw. "Are you alright? You seem upset..?" lavellan

Angelshine was impressed with the effort that everyone put forth to make the festival into what it was, as she took in the fireflies and food present. It spiked her interest and her mind could not help but wander to her next hunting trip she was planning for tomorrow. When Shieldheart posed the question of her intrest in any of her clanmantes, her brow furrowed in confusion as she glanced at him questioningly. "Interested in anyone? Not particularly. I have you. And Swordstrike. I have not had the time to form any acquaintances with any other clanmantes yet." She responded easily, missing his true question completely. Her gaze became more playful and amused. "But between you and me, we do share a more profound bond." She teased. Romance was not on the forefront of her mind as she never experienced any of the emotions associated with it. Growing up with her father, there was never any time for romance or dalliances of any kind and when he disappeared, Angelshine was far too focused on her mission and finding him to explore. When she joined Fallclan, all of her energy and resources were put in to becoming the best and most loyal solider she could be.
Angelshine's blue eyes flicked away from the deputy beside her to glance around the camp curiously. There many cats mingling about, but none in particular caught her eyes. Somewhere deep in her, she knew the only one to ever really catch her eye was SHieldheart. She still did not know what prodded her to approach the squabbling brothers that first night, but she did not question it. She enjoyed the company and the friendship that they provided. The warrior had found a feeling of comfort in the presence of Shieldheart and she was not one to stray out of her comfort zone.

Bramblekit smiled at the other kit's enthusiasm, happy to have caused it. Although she was one of the older kits in the nursery, she hadn't been very good at making friends. Now, to have finally made some headway in that department, she was practically glowing as much as the fireflies. "Awesome!" she purred, reluctantly turning away to watch the bugs too. Hopefully, the games would start soon. lavellan
Shieldheart didn't know if Angelshine's answer was accurate given that she hadn't understood the question, but somehow, her words made him feel like a weight had lifted from his shoulders. The relief surprised him and only seemed to grow alongside confusion as she mentioned their "profound bond". She wasn't flirting with him, he knew that. But it did sound like it. "Yeah, you're a good friend," he agreed, even though the label tasted bitter on his tongue. "Like the sister I never had," he added with a distracted chuckle as he too turned to watch the festival. As his eyes landed on the feast at last, he found that even a rumbling stomach couldn't replace the fluttering in his gut. hals
Giving a quick nod of thanks to the aurulent, Hystericstar tilted his heard towards the abundance of fireflies dancing throughout the camp. "I do believe the others are slacking in catching those things, though. It'll probably be a while yet before we're able to eat." Still, he made no attempt to join in the capturing, and ignored whenever one of the small bugs attempted to land on him. pLuto
Legendarypaw's smile turned rather sour after Vixenpaw asked about him, so he dropped it altogether. For just a moment, his mind fell back onto Firenettle and Fabledpaw, before his eyes snapped to the fireflies. He couldn't let his grief overtake him tonight. "I'm upset, yeah. But isn't that what these festivals are for? To cheer us up?" he replied, deciding to stick as close to the truth as he could. He was more than upset, but letting others know would just ruin the mood. The black tom turned his attention to the smaller of the siblings, then motionined to the fireflies. "Would you like to try to catch some?" Nova
Poisonrush shrugged. "I suppose it can't be helped when there are more fun things to do." He looked over the crowd. "I say this all the time and will continue to say it at every major gathering we have, but it would be nice if you joined the festivities rather than sitting back in the shadows. You never know if you might actually enjoy something once you start doing it." lavellan
