"Of course." She smiled, finishing her mouse quickly before giving her ears a few good swipes with her paws and she waited patiently. "I know it will be late upon our return, so don't worry about waking up early tomorrow. Get plenty of rest and we'll start after you wake up." She told her. Flyingcolors naturally woke up very early but for being Vixenpaw's first day out of camp and such a long journey, she had no doubts the apprentice would fall into a long and deep slumber.
Vixenpaw nodded as she finished her mouse and licked her lips. She had heard that they were much juicer in the green-leaf season. But they tasted fine to her. She couldn't wait to return home and sleep in her nest. Did she even have one? They hadn't made one before they'd left... Would someone else have made a nest for her to sleep? Giving a tiny shrug, she decided she'd probably be to sleepy when they got back to camp that she wouldn't even notice not having a nest.

The rest of the trip was quiet and Flyingcolors did not speak on the return home. She still had many different things on her mind and was eager to return to camp, glad to see everything peaceful as usual. Tonight she could sleep without too many worries, hopefully. "Come, I had a few of the other apprentices bring bedding in for you while we were gone. You can use whatever you prefer but this should do for now." Flyingcolors preferred to use a mix of materials including soft down feathers. There was no reason not too and it was rather comfortable. "Sleep now, we will resume our training in the morning." She showed her to her nest before walking over and climbing into her own, it took a very long time for sleep to claim her but eventually a restless darkness swept over her conscious.
Vixenpaw curled up in her nest, her mind racing. She'd been accepted by StarClan, now came the hard part: learning herbs, learning how to better understand without having to awkwardly stare at everyone. Worst of all: hunting and battle training. She wasn't looking forward to that last part at all. Finally, after what felt like ages, sleep claimed her and it wasn't restful in the slightest. It was full of things she didn't understand, like the sun becoming to big that you couldn't see the sky and a lot of bloody claws.

--time skip--
Flyingcolors had woken up with the sun, as usual, from a disturbed and peace less sleep. She could not stop seeing her brother among the stars and it haunted her sleep. She wondered if he had talked to Starclan recently, if he knew. She couldn't say for sure but left to make dirt and go for a quick morning walk to wake up her paws and mind and to prepare for when Vixenpaw awoke for her training. When she returned, she peeked into the den to find Vixenpaw still fast asleep and she smiled, setting to work in checking over their hers and making a mental note of what they were short on and separating out the herbs that were no longer good for use.
It wasn't long after Flyingcolors started separating useless and useful herbs that Vixenpaw woke up. She knew she could try and fall back asleep, but her dreams - or were they nightmares? - still haunted her and so she stretched in her nest and yawned. She looked over at her mentor and wondered what she was doing, and if she could somehow help. Deciding she'd be no use hungry, she went and got something from the fresh-kill pile. She was unsure if Flyingcolors had eaten already, and grabbed one for the Medicine Cat. She brought both birds over and set one next to Flyingcolors before digging into her own.

"Ah, thank you Vixenpaw I appreciate the breakfast." She stopped with she was doing momentarily and washed her paws in some water she had collected several days before hand for that purpose before sitting down and plucking a few feathers from the bird. "How was your sleep?" She asked her, using her forepaws to grab at the bird and pull on it with some effort.
Vixenpaw took a moment to pick her own feathers off her prey before answering Flyingcolors's question. "It was fine." she paused to take a bite before glancing back up at her mentor. She swallowed and then asked, "How did you sleep?"

"I slept just fine, thank you." It was a bit of a lie but she did not want to worry her apprentice over what kept the medicine cat up these days. It was a familial concern and she didn't want it to affect her work or performance. "we'll start with some herb sorting this morning and learning the names of some basic herbs. Does that sound good to you?" She remembered her first day of her apprenticeship and the overload of information. At the end of her first night her mind was spinning with words and names, it took her weeks before she felt like she caught on to anything.
Vixenpaw nodded at her mentor's words. Learning Herbs names and their uses was what she'd wanted, right? She was still slightly unnerved about meeting StarClan yesterday, but she could push through it.

Flyingcolors led the apprentice over to where she had been sorting herbs and she indicated the piles they were sorted in to. "Do you see this pile over here?" Her paw hovered over leaves and various other withered and dried materials to her right. "These are herbs that are no longer useful. They have been in my den too long and have lost their healing abilities. Some herbs can not be stored more than a fortnight and a select few must be harvested fresh. You'll learn what those are over time.
"Over here are the herbs that we will keep an organize so we know what we need to collect. I have planted a few herbs in various places to help them persist through leaf bare but we will see if they are going to be any use to us." There were several piles on her left that was well organized and separated neatly into different plants.
She took a pile of dried catnip and set them before the apprentice. "This is catnip. It is important this time a year and used to treat things such as greencough and whitecough in kits. I want you to try and sort out which ones are usable and which ones aren't. Don't worry about getting them perfect." She added. She didn't expect the apprentice to know perfectly how to do it but Flyingcolors always advocated learning by doing.
Vixenpaw nodded at her mentor's words and went to work trying to figure out which was which was good and which wasn't. It wasn't an easy task for her. Sure, she knew a lot of the names of the herbs and some of their uses. Once she finished her task, she looked up at Flyingcolors. She hoped she'd gotten a majority of them good.

Flyingcolors looked ver the two piles which she had sorted. "You did quite well for your first time. There are a few I would sort differently but you did well. See, this one here," She picked up a leaf from the useless pile and held it on top of her paw, "could still be used. It is a bit dried but some of its original scent is there. I would definitely use it before the others." She went through and described how she sorted different pieces and why.
Vixenpaw watched as Flyingcolors explained what she'd do differently and why, feeling a little disappointed in herself that she'd only sorted most of the correct. She shrugged that thought off. It was her second day. She'd get better. "Are the drier ones... Less potent than the fresher ones?" she asked, suppressing the urge to tilt her head. It was always harder to read what others where saying with a titled head.

[ Sorry this thread got pushed down my list >.> ]
Flyingcolors nodded, "Sometimes. Some herbs can only be used when they are fresh and dried ones may require more to be as potent as needed. You will get a hang for it as you learn." She assured the younger cat. When Flyingcolors started her apprenticeship she had not even realized the difference between left and right her head was spinning with so much information.
Vixenpaw nodded her head, as if that made more sense to her than it did. She wondered if the dry ones could be stronger, but she wasn't sure she could take another explanation. She wasn't sure she could sit still much longer, but knew that she needed to learn. And if her instincts were right, she needed to learn as much as she could as quickly as she could.

Flyingcolors noted the shiftiness in her apprentice's eyes and she tilted her head towards the den entrance. "Let's put these back in my store and dispose of the dead ones." It would he good for them to get out and stretch their legs. Without fresh air and movement, a cat would get nowhere in the long run. She quickly picked up the herbs that were good and placed them in neat piles in a crook of a rock making up part of the den and carefully picked up a pile of herbs whilst heading towards the entrance.
