"The prey is being so elusive. I was feeling so annoyed I'm surprised I didn't miss it." He was bragging a little but trying to-unsuccessfully-mask it with humbleness.
"You're lucky you found anything out here. I haven't found a single thing." Jokerclaw said. "Though I think it might be because of the weather, it's pretty cold right now especially with the wind." Just as he mentioned the wind, it picked up in a sharp, cold gust that cut right through their fur and Jokerclaw shivered again.

"You think it's going to snow soon?" He asked his brother, puffing out his long blonde fur once again. "Do you want to try and find prey somewhere else?"
Jokerclaw shrugged as he looked up at the sky contemplatively. "I don't have a clue. SummerClan isn't exactly known for getting much snow but it has been an unusually cold leaf-bare with the cold weather starting sooner than normal."

"Yeah I noticed that too and I don't like the look of the clouds just on the horizon." He motioned towards a big grey clouds that seemed to be forming some ways away. He was not one to predict the weather much but even a young apprentice could tell they were bad weather clouds.
Jokerclaw went off in the other direction hoping to find something to bring back to the clan and finally having some luck and running across a fairly fresh shrew scent trail.

Daggerjuggler was sniffing along the bushes when he stumbled across a hole in the ground and a large red fox pup looked up at him and barked. Fox dung. "Jokerclaw, I think we have a mother fox around here." He called, hoping his brother would hear him.
Around the same time that Daggerjuggler had found the fox den, Jokerclaw had tracked down the mouse just in time to find the mother fox killing it. The large tom tried to retreat but the fox heard him and bared its teeth at Jokerclaw in a snarl. Giving up any sense of stealth the dark ginger tabby turned tail and raced back towards Daggerjuggler just in time to hear him say something about a mother fox. "Found it." he said a little breathlessly.

"I don't know about you but I vote to run." Daggerjuggler looked down at the fox pup and back up at his brother. The last thing he wanted was to make a mother fox think they were trying to hurt its pup. It made them more vicious and nasty than they were normally.
"I agree." Jokerclaw said not having slowed down his speed much when he caught up to Daggerjuggler he sped up again and raced down the river bank south towards the stepping stones, hoping that maybe crossing them might prove to be too much of a challenge for the fox and would stop her.

Daggerjuggler followed behind his brother and looked down nervously at the water. "I hope you can jump fast, I'm not going to a swim." Daggerjuggler told his brother. The blonde tom had long fur that was not conducive to swimming by any measure.
"I think if we make it across it'll stop her." Jokerclaw said slowing his speed down as they approached the stepping stones. Being more nimble they had managed to keep ahead of the fox but it was gaining on them now that Jokerclaw had slowed down. Coming to a stop he quickly surveyed the rocks before taking a small running leap to land on the first one and then quickly jumped to the second to give his brother room.

"Keep going!" Daggerjuggler urged his brother, glancing back at the fox which was quickly gaining on them. Fear scent was ebbing from the warrior as he did not want to be her lunch today. "If you don't move quickly I'm not going to be much more than a scrap of fur!"
The dark ginger tom looked back over at his shoulder at his brother and the fox and quickly jumped to the next rock, just barely sticking the landing as one paw almost slipped out from under him. Biting back a curse he paused to gather himself before jumping to the next rock. There were only two more rocks between him and the far bank.

Daggerjuggler jumped to the rocks and felt a pair of jaws close just next to his hind leg, narrowly missing. The fox stood on the bank, eyeing the water before snarling at the cats as if daring them to cross the bank again. The long-furred blonde tom hoped it would not wander close to camp, they would need to warn everyone and he felt his chest squeeze with worry for his kits.
Jokerclaw breathed a sigh of relief once his brother had safely reached the far bank and it seemed that the fox wouldn't be able to reach them from where she was. "Just hope it doesn't find the log bridge and realize it leads to the same place." he said.
