Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"I'll consider it," he replied, not really meaning it but deciding to store it in his memory for later. Who knows? A day may come when he would need to change it. Deerpelt looked over at The Huntress. Her presence was so commanding and he found himself intrigued. A cat who moved around a lot probably knew so much. On a whim, Deerpelt asked her a question in a relaxed voice. "Tell me a story, Huntress? Of something amazing you've seen out there."
Considering it meant no, and he'd waste his life away like the rest of the cats in his Clan. She almost felt bad for him, but he made the choice for himself and would have to deal with the consequences after death. Her 'amazing story' could be her everyday life compared to his, but she never told ones like that well. Rather, she preferred the scary or the skeptical ones. She shook her head. "Amazing? I couldn't tell you much about those. I do know something though, about some cats who live in the dessert east of SunClan. It's more horror, if you're up for it."
"Well, there was a cat. She was quite beautiful, if I do say so myself. A Bengal with some of the most beautiful eyes in her group. One day, she decided to leave her home, and everything she knew. She swore her life to them, and everything else." The Huntress's voices dropped down to merely a whisper. "She took her kitten with her. In search of something else, they traveled across the desert through roaring sandstorms and raging winds." She paused. "In one of those storms, the mother lost track of her kitten, and did nothing to find it."
He felt himself move closer to the she-cat as she spoke. "Why didn't she try to find it?" Deerpelt's voice was low, almost a whisper. He had left his own kits behind and who knew what was happening to them back in SunClan. The tom wondered if this was something Hazelsplash would do. If she would be motherly and spend her last breath finding their kits or if she would just shrug it off.
So, she had him hooked. It wasn't even a riveting part of the story yet. "She assumed it was dead, but she never even checked. It was a mere assumption that could have left her kitten dying alone." She paused. "Unfortunately, I don't know the ending for the kitten. As for the mother, she wept what tears she could find in a desert, but did not stop moving." The Huntress voice quivered as she spoke of the mother leaving her kitten behind.
Deerpelt rested his head on one brown paw, eyebrows coming together in a concerned look. "This story is relatable. It's hard to listen to," he admitted. The Huntress offered interesting stories and fresh opinions on so much that Deerpelt found himself really enjoying this conversation with her. His eyes roved over here, the connection he was beginning to feel with her softening his heart. stardance
