Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
As SwiftClan wanders in search of new land, they stop to feast with SummerClan and SpringClan! Both of the other clans have prepared fun events for the clans to participate in, so SwiftClan scrambles the last minute to come up with a good idea. Chim decides to put his medicine cat, Firetooth, in charge of a little lesson on poisonous herbs and how not to eat them. Does your cat not want to poison themselves? Does your cat want to poison someone else? Does your cat like to suffer through Firetooth's company? Then step right up! You can't leave once you're here, sorry no escaping or you become part of the demonstration for the day. Title & idea by Gidget.

Chim had led his clan to the small space on the border where the other two clans were meeting, bringing a measly few pawfuls of fresh-kill as a peace offering. He had brought his clan so they could feast on good prey and company, but he hadn't realized every clan had planned activities for the day.... and he was expected to have one as well. That was a problem. Chewing on his lip, his gaze settled on the first cat he saw and he quickly came up with a plan: make this someone else's problem to deal with.
"Firetooth," he called, strolling toward his medicine cat with his brows pulled innocently upward, "I have a job for you. I was thinking, with all this traveling we're doing we need to make sure our cats understand the herbs around them... why don't you hold a little class to teach them?"
Firetooth stared at Chimerstar as if the Swiftclan leader had grown a second head. "You want me to do what now." he meowed, blinking in hopes that this obvious illusion of his leader would magically disappear. While it was true that Swiftclan's first and only medicine cat had brought some herbs with him to the event, that was just because it was occupational hazard; somebody was gonna be an idiot and bump their head at some point, though the ginger tabby really didn't expect that cat to be himself.
Then he finally caught the mischievous spark in Chim's eye, and realized what his leader was trying to pull on him. "Oh no you don't," he hissed back. "I know your game; the other clans have stuff to do, so you're trying to have me do all of the work for you. Typical." He rolled his eyes in irritation before stepping forward so that him and Chimerastar were nose-to-nose. "Well if I have to play the game, I'm playing my way."
Before his leader had the chance to respond, the Medicine Cat suddenly turned and called out towards the gathering. "Hey everyone! Chimerastar and I are holding a lecture on herb safety! Together! As a team! All cats are welcome!"
Tinybreath looked up from her fish, blinking in surprise at Firetooth's announcement before she noticed how uncomfortable her brother looked. She smirked wickedly, dipping her head to the cat she was chatting with. "Sorry, but I HAVE to see this." The petite black she-cat promptly picked up her lunch and padded over towards the pair, her ice-blue eyes sparkling in amusement.
Sunnykit, who had ended his sprint near the two Swiftclan cats, turned at the announcement, his ginger head turned curiously to the side. "Herb safety?" He called out bravely, making his way towards the Swiftclan cats fearlessly "That sounds boring." The unapologetic bluntness of the kit erupted as he sat in front of Chimerastar, staring up at him with big, honey glazed eyes. There was a natural air of confidence and forwardness from the kit. Growing up to learn that his father was the leader of their clan added to the kit's natural self-confidence, which would of course get him into trouble from time to time. If any of his parents were close enough to have heard, he was sure he would have gotten an earful, especially fro his mother Beedust.

SPRINGCLAN
Berrykit's ears perked at the idea of a lesson. He wouldn't have to play or be center of attention. Or watch as Thistlestar effortlessly enabled three clans to get along and feast. The shadow cast by his father was especially long today. So the tiny brown tom padded over, waving his tail a bit to Sunnykit as a hello. "I-I think it sounds important."
"It could save your life one day, you know," Wispykit said to Sunnykit, although she was polite, she'd never met him before and didn't mean to hurt his feelings. Her fiery orange eyes shined with curiosity as she approached Chimerastar and Firetooth. She was being incredibly brave; this kit was usually very cautious. Ratstar had judged this a safe event so she put her faith in him and forced back her trepidation.
Wispykit's grandmother was Mistyrose, a prolific and well known medicine cat, so felt it was her duty to have at least a general understanding of herbs as to not embarrass her when they finally did meet someday. SummerClan's medicine cat, Graythorn, always seemed annoyed by her questions, so now was a better time than ever to learn more about what to do in an emergency, "So, what's the first herb?"
"I am not doing this," he muttered fiercely from the corner of his mouth. He didn't know the first thing about herb safety and he wasn't about to sit up here and make a fool of himself. As his sister came to join them, Chim bit back his next words and glared at her reproachfully, fully aware she would never let him escape now. "If you think it's boring, then go somewhere else. I hear they're drowning kits in SummerClan, maybe you can be the demonstration," he growled to Sunnykit.
"Don't joke about that!" Wispykit's voice vehemently cut through Chimerastar and Sunnykit's conversation. Her eyes were watery, she was trembling, she instinctively bared her teeth although she did not hiss. She was clearly very upset. Coalkit's death had been especially hard on her because she had seem him sneak out of the den and done nothing about it. Wispykit was riddled with guilty despite her any cat's best attempts to remind her that what happened wasn't anyone's fault. The she-kit's silvery fur stood on end for awhile as she faced off the mighty Chimerastar but eventually she realized how many eyes were on her and smoothed her pelt down. She made herself look small, pinned her ears to the back of her head, tail between her legs, and yet.... those brilliant amber eyes continued to meet Chimerstar's gaze unwaveringly. That being said, she looked like she was very nearly about to burst into tears as she added, "It's an insult to Coalkit's memory..."
Sunnykit rolled his eyes at his brother and the foreign kit's words, finding no reason in his mind as to how his brother came up with that idea. "It's just leaves and flowers, what can they do to you?" He exclaimed out loud, staring back at the Swiftclan "Besides, that's why we have medicine cats for."
Chimerastar's rather harsh words made the young ginger tom bristle. He couldn't help but stand in defense, his honey-colored eyes bright with annoyance, but he knew better than to talk back to a leader. Slowy, he slipped back down on his back haunches, sitting back down at his brother's side with blatant annoyance. Before he could say anything, the other kit spoke up with an surprisingly amount of emotions. Sunnykit turned to see the she-cat who was blatantly upset and defensive. The sudden show of emotions confused Sunnykit, but at the mention of another kit's name, it registered in the ginger tom's mind. He felt himself suddenly quiet and somber. Despite his rather forward and blunt personality, the kit was incredible sensitive and empathetic, feeling oddly guilty himself though he had no role in upsetting the kit directly.
Comsickit sat among the other Springclan kits. She tipped her head in confused at the first mention of herb safety. Berrykit and Wispykit had both voiced opinions to what she had been thinking. She was originally going to add something but chose to stayed silent at the harsh words the Swiftclan leader used towards her clanmate. She glanced over at Sunnykit and decided to voice her opinion. "I agree with Berrykit and that kitten over there." She stated as she pointed her tail in the direction of Wispykit unsure of what the kittens name was. "They could be useful someday Sunnykit. Even if we just become warriors" She added.
He clenched his jaw as he turned his sharp half-gaze on the outspoken young cat, the fur on his neck starting to bristle. Despite knowing logically he shouldn't let a kit get under his fur, he resented Wispykit anyway for being right. He didn't like being questioned by cats from his own clan, far less kits from other clans, and it was all he could do to bite back an angry retort. He stayed silent as the kits comforted each other, then inclined his head to her slightly in acknowledgment that he might be toeing the line.
"You don't have to stay if you don't want to. I don't care if the other clans are as capable as mine, so if you'd rather not know anything about your environment . . . that's on you."
"I thought leaders were supposed to be valiant and kind," Wispykit sniffled, Chimerastar's words only fueling the fire, but at the same time bringing waterworks, "The kind of cat that inspires you to do better. Who stands up for what's right and acknowledges when he's wrong." The gray kit wasn't going to fall for his attempt to make her feel like she was at fault for voicing her opinion. Besides, she really didn't want to leave. Wispykit had never met her grandmother, Mistyveil, but she knew she was a medicine cat and thought this lesson was a great way to learn a little bit about her life, albeit indirectly. But now she wasn't so sure. Wispykit flatly didn't tolerate bullies and she was starting to think SwiftClan's leader was one. She wiped away a couple tears but continued to stand her ground.

SWIFTCLAN
"HEY!" Mistralkit's high voice was heard over the clamor as she approached. She was just arriving, having been speaking to Ratstar about most important things. "You take that back right now!" The silvery she-cat's fur was standing up along her spine, needle-thin claws digging into the ground as she strode purposefully towards Wispykit. "Chimerastar is brave and kind and valiant and...and strong!" She glared daggers at the SummerClan she-kit, trying to keep her temper in check. When she added the last part, Mistralkit's temper boiled over and she was tumbling to the ground with Wispykit before she knew what she was doing.
"You take that back right now!" she yowled, chewing on Wispykit's ear with a vehemence normally reserved for an especially tough piece of prey. "He's a better leader than any other clan ever!"
SPRINGCLAN The swift and unexpected entrance of the Swiftclan kit came as a surprise to Sunnykit, but more so her explosive reaction. Instincts kicked in and Sunnykit was on his paws again. Had he thought further on the situation unfolding before him, he would have realized he was smaller than the two kits, who were practically apprentice aged, and had a slimier chance of winning a fight if started but he was far to confident and reactionary to take the precautions.
With no further hesitation, the ginger kit launched himself forward, knocking Minstralkit off of the emotional Summerclan cat. The two kits tumbled for a short moment, but Sunnykit bounced back on his paws, standing in between the two she-cat's his fur standing high in attempt to make himself appear bigger and more threatening. "Hey! Knock it off!" The ginger tabby yowled threateningly, mustering up all the threat he could manage out of his rather small body. He wasn't drastically smaller than the Swiftclan she-cat, but he was smaller and slim.
Wispykit shrieked when Mistralkit threw herself at her and instinctively kicked out at the other kit with her hind legs. Her claws were sheathed, but her blows were heavy, "Get off me! Were you even listening to what he was saying?"
The little gray kit was large for her age and, while slim, was rather robust. She had many different Clans running through her blood but she took most strongly after her WinterClan roots. After the initial shock wore off, she twisted in a way that made it hard for Mistralkit to reach her ear; instead, the other kit would have gotten a mouth full of fluff. Damage had been done, though, and she felt warmth pulsate from where she had been bitten. She wouldn't be able to tell but she was bleeding pretty heavily; the other kit had managed to nick a blood vessel. Wispykit turned her brilliant orange eyes to Chimerastar, this time without tears, "DO SOMETHING!"
Luckily, she didn't have to wait long for help. She hadn't expected the one to break up the fight to be another kit, though. As soon as there was distance between herself and Mistralkit, Wispykit drew her paw up to her ear and pulled it away to find her snowy white paw crimson red. She'd never seen so much blood in her life and started to panic, "Someone get Graythorn!" She called out, trembling even more than before, but somehow still managing to hold back tears. Perhaps she had none left.
Mistralkit glared at Sunnykit, panting hard. Her side and flank hurt where Wispykit had managed to land a few solid blows, though when she saw the other she-kit bleeding she failed to hide a wince. She hadn't meant to draw blood, but how dare she insult Chimerastar like that? Her expression grew frosty again when her hind-leg began to pulse with pain, but with long, determined strides she skirted past Sunnykit and to Wispykit's side. "Oh shut up," she hissed, rolling her eyes. "It's just a nick. The more you scream and paw at it, the more it'll bleed. Here," she pulled up some of the moss carpeting the gathering place. "Press this to it and stop your wailing. StarClan would think you had the ear torn off."
Her gruff, insulting bedside manner was her way of apologizing, though unless you knew her it would be hard to tell. "Next time watch what you say and you might not get your pretty white pelt bloodied." She did have the good graces to look a little guilty before Chimerastar, wondering if he would punish her for her outburst. Her gaze flicked to Firetooth too, though it was too clouded to read exactly what she was thinking.
Great, now they were fighting. How wonderful. Who thought it was a good idea to send kits to SwiftClan? He supposed neither of the other leaders knew him and his medicine cat well enough to realize that was a bad idea, but he had a feeling they were about to change their minds. "Kind?" he muttered skeptically, his brow furrowing together, "did she just call me kind?" As Wispykit yelled at him he suddenly remembered it was his job to break up the fighting kits and sighed deeply. He rose to his paws and awkwardly stood between the kits, lashing his tail and trying not to look too uncomfortable with the situation. This is why I don't like kittens.
"Oh-kay. Bloodykit, come over here and let Firetooth have a look at you, your medicine cat is busy." He was staring at Wispykit, whose name he had forgotten if he had ever learned it. "Other kits, we're going to start the lesson with..." he glanced around, then took one of the herbs Firetooth had brought and dropped it in front of the crowd. "This one. Um, comfrey, it's for broken toes or something like that. Mistralkit, come with me a moment and let's talk in private." Those sounded like orders, probably.

Uh oh. Mistralkit's ears were pinned to her head, her tail sagging behind her. She was in trouble, wasn't she? It wasn't lost on her that she and her littermates were some of the few kits in SwiftClan thanks to being dumped off by some she-cat they didn't know, but because of that she wasn't actually too sure what Chimerastar did with a kit that stepped out of line. Was he going to send her home? Cuff her? What if he yelled at her in front of everyone? She would never live down the shame, not ever.
Slinking behind her leader, Mistralkit tried to bury these thoughts, tried to keep her head up and eyes full of pride, not tears. Still, it didn't come easy and while she managed it was clear she was uncomfortable. "Yes, Chimerastar?" she asked when they got a bit away from the group. "Are you going to send me home?" She wouldn't apologize - couldn't, actually. She didn't regret what she did, only that it might have shamed or annoyed her leader.
"My name is Wispykit, Chimerastar." She said, making a point to annunciate his name, to prove that she had spent the time to figure out who he was and make him feel bad for not doing the same. It was a little bit childish of her because of course most every cat could recognize a leader but not every no-name kit like she was. Wispykit was a child, though, so she got away with it. She looked around for a few seconds hoping to see the familiar gray pelt of the SummerClan medicine cat but, when she realized he really wasn't coming, she let out a shaky breath and slowly approached Firetooth as directed.
Firetooth had left for five minutes. As soon as he had announced his seminar and cats began gathering, the Medicine Cat had wandered off to grabbed the required herbs from where Swiftclan was making camp nearby; not anything particularly exceptional, but what the ordinary warrior wouldn't immediately recognize. Of course, what he hadn't expected when he returned was Mistralkit gnawing on another squealing kit like a piece of prey. Great Starclan, I pity the fool who becomes her mentor.
Sighing in annoyance, the flame-pelted tom set the pile of herbs at his paws and gestured Wispykit to stand beside him and Chimerastar. Noticing how the tiny she-cat snapped at his leader, he could make a few guesses as to how the Summerclan and Swiftclan kits ended up coming to blows. "Tinybreath, please make sure Mistralkit doesn't assault someone else during this gathering, a Starclan-designated time a peace." His tone was ice-cold as he addressed the kit, though he smirked slight as a livid Tinybreath marched up to the Mistralkit and held her firmly down with a paw and a sharp glare.
"Now then," he continued with a dismissive flick of his ear, acting as if nothing had happened. "This is a good example of two of the most basic herbs: burdock leaves and cobwebs. If Chimerastar would be so kind as to be helpful for once, Burdock Leaves should be chewed thoroughly and applied to NON-Infected wounds in order to speed up healing. For the deaf and stupid, like Mistralkit: NON-Infected wounds ONLY. While Swiftclan's totally emotionally stable leader is preparing the ointment, I'll apply cobwebs to the wound to stop the bleeding."
