Calamitystar gave a sheepish grin to Poisonrush before nodding. "You're right. Let's get this show on the road! What are we waiting for?!" He definitely knew they were waiting on him, but by the tone of his voice it seemed like he was completely oblivious. "Alrighty, crew, follow me to the....campgrounds woo!!" That's right. They were going on a special bonding camping trip that Cal had definitely planned more than the day before, of course. Well, he had worked on something special for quite a while before their trip, but gotten so consumed by it that he pushed off planning the actual..uh.. activities. Oh well. What they didn't know wouldn't hurt em, right?
( circle just gonna tag you in case you wanted to join in on this c: )
Briefly closing his eyes, Hystericplague let out a silent sigh. He cast a look at the bird he had been in the middle of eating, rather upset that he won't get to finish it, but stood up anyway to follow the excitable leader. Honestly, what a waste of food. Hopefully it wouldn't just get thrown out and someone else would eat it, but it seemed like he wouldn't be around to see. Well, if he was around, then the bird wouldn't even be sitting there half-eaten, would it? The tom just hoped this little adventure wouldn't also be a waste of time, but he wasn't going to voice any worries about it. Looking at Cal, the leader had spent a lot of time planning this trip. At least a day, if the deputy had to guess. Which was a lot for Calamitystar.
Poisonrush stretched as he stepped off to follow Calamitystar. The campgrounds. He hadn't been there for some time now, it almost seemed a foreign location. "Hey, Calamitystar, what will we be doing at the campgrounds?" he questioned. Glancing down at the ground, he smirked to himself. Hopefully, theres some sort of competition in mind, he thought.

As if to echo his thoughts, Calamitystar turned to look back at the group of cats with a mischievous gleam in his ice blue eyes. "Why, a bit of friendly competition." He purred, his voice smooth but just a bit challenging. Then, almost as if a switch had been flipped, he smiled big, turning his head slightly to the side as he did so. It was that signature smile of his when he was about to say something cheesy and overly giddy. "We're also going to tell so many fun stories and sing around a fire and then I've got something extra special for y'all that I've been working on for so long! Oh I'm so excited for it!!" With that onslaught of bubbly words, he turned his attention back forward and picked up his pace to a trot...which almost resembled a skip...almost.
Oh boy. It seemed Hystericplague would be in for a long day. At the mention of a friendly competition, he already knew that he wasn't going to put that much effort into it. And singing? Surely no one would notice if just one cat didn't join in on it. His eyes slid back to Calamitystar, and he held back a sigh. Cal would probably notice, he corrected himself with a frown. Still, though, the hairless deputy kept his thoughts to himself. Instead he asked, "Are we going to be staying there overnight or something?"

"Well, of course!" He purred, glancing overly-happily back at his deputy and accidentally stumbling over a boulder in the process. It was quite strange because he got up and continued walking and babbling on about how fun it was going to be like nothing even happened. Although, his paw was beginning to bleed just a little, leaving a little speckled trail along the way.
Jayjack didn't look any more thrilled than Hystericplaque. It sounded like a complete waste of time for everyone involved. Now, Jayjack didn't mind a bit of friendly competition (unless someone was cheating again) or stories by the fire, but they had other important duties to attend to. Should their entire staff be taking the day off? His mouth pulled down into a frown. "Did you leave anyone in charge of camp while we're gone?"
"You know, Jayjack does have a valid question," Poisonrush said as he turned his attention towards Calamitystar. "Since all of upper management is leaving for some time, who knows what could happen in our absence. So who should be left in charge?" Figuring they would stop, at least for a moment, to consider the options he didn't continue on. Details like that, Calamitystar would forget, but there is the off chance it would have been dealt with ahead of time.

Calamitystar turned back towards them with a shocked look. "You think I forgot?!" Of course he didn't.... Well, he did until the last moment and had to pick whichever group of cats were closest in proximity to him at the time to watch the camp. He wouldn't tell them that and luckily it appeared that none of them overheard the flustered conversation he had with them... "In fact, I left a whole group of 'em. I believe it was Wyverndilirium, Shorthalt, Burningember, and uh...Pumpkinpaw." He responded with an awkward smiling, noticing now that he left probably some of the most impulsive cats in charge of Fallclan. "They'll be fineeeeee."
Poisonrush raised a skeptical brow at the decision. If he knew Burningember as well as he did, the clan was in good hands...maybe? Well at least Icefrost will be there as well. He seems to work well those kind of cats. "Well I suppose it cant be helped now. Shall we continue on?"
It took all of Hystericplague's efforts to not criticize the leader's choices aloud, instead opting for a blank stare that managed to speak volumes. Shorthalt and Pumpkinpaw he knew well enough, and he could only imagine the shenanigans they were getting up to with being left in charge. No doubt they were letting it get to their heads. Seeing who Cal chose as his deputy, Hystericplague was really doubting his judge of character. "We'll fix whatever damage they do later on," he added after Poisonrush spoke.
Naturally, he was less reserved in his protests. "Calamitystar, those cats aren't ready to lead. An apprentice and an outsider? We'll be lucky if we have a clan to come back to after that," he snorted. "Let me go back and I'll keep the clan in order until your return. It would be my honor." He was already turning back, not waiting for an answer.

"No, no, no, Jayjack." Calamitystar meowed with a laugh, intercepting the hot-headed tom. "Don't worry, they'll be fine! And like Hystericplague said, we'll just fix any damage that happens!" He purred a little too optimistically. "Now, come oonnnnnnnn. We're not going to beat the sunnnn if we don't hurrrryyyy."
Hystericplague gave the second of what was bound to be many eye rolls of the night. At least the leader could admit that there could be damage, though. He was definitely going to have his paws full when he got back to camp. And there was no way that Jayjack was going to get away with escaping this when Hystericplague couldn't, so he gave the aurulent the best smile he could muster, which seemed to resemble a rather twisted grimace. "Aren't you looking forward to beating everyone in these 'friendly competitions'?"
Jayjack scowled, letting out a huff through his teeth. "Calamitystar," he began, respectfully, but it was clear the leader was not listening. He shook his head irritably as he turned his paws back toward the group, guessing they'd notice if he slipped out and headed back to camp. "Thrilled," he responded to Hystericplague, showing his teeth in a clearly unpleased look.

"Wonderful! I'm so excited you all are so enthusiastic." Cal purred in response, seeming to completely miss the sarcasm. "Especially you, Hystericplague! I didn't think you would like this kind of stuff at all to be honest."
As they rounded the corner to the camping grounds, he turned to face the group. "Alright, are y'all ready?!"
The former medicine cat sighed, revealing that he was, in fact, not enthusiastic about this trip. Although everyone except for Cal probably knew that. So, when Cal asked his next question, Hystericplague was quick to reply with a simple "No."

"HahahahaHAHA... Of course you areeeee." Cal purred with a pleading look towards his deputy. "It's going to be loads of fun. I was thinking we could start with a 'get-to-know-you' type game, like an icebreaker of sorts, and then we can use our handy dandy teamwork skills to build a fire and then... well you'll see when we get there."
Once more, the deputy rolled his eyes, but decided against saying anything further. After all, once Cal had a plan, it didn't seem like even Hystericplague could sway him. The leader was annoyingly stubborn sometimes. Hystericplague was going to regret coming on this trip, wasn't he?
A get-to-know-you game? Well, it could be worse. In fact, the senior tabby was looking forward to a chance to brag a little bit, he rarely got the opportunity. "What an interesting idea. Would you like to start, Cal?"
