Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Nikkohydrangea’s ear twitched, yeah, seriously, that was what h said. He rarely ever joked, mainly just relentlessly trash talk or teased someone.
“I bet that will be a hard task for you,” Nikkohydrangea said before replying innocently, “Oh, you’re speaking of me. No problem.” A smile twitched at his lip before forming fully. With any luck that was hopefully Nikkohydrangea’s last time being annoying, but he had already decided that if Bloodyrondo was in the presence of other SunClan cats he would typically remain respectful.
Bloodyrondo booped Nikkohydrangea on the top of his head, hard enough to hurt, but not hard enough to hurt for long, "Not funny." He was smiling, though. Mostly because of how absurd the comment was given what had just happened. Nikkohydrangea had never really insulted Bloodyrondo quite so directly but he didn't have the energy to do anything about it. If the new SunClan Warrior tried something like that tomorrow, he would get a very different response.
Bloodyrondo flicked his tail-tip then exited his den, squinting against the bright sunlight. It was just a little bit after noon, maybe twenty or so minutes after the ceremony. The camp had mostly cleared but there were stills cats here and there basking in the sun, chatting, grooming. He felt their eyes on him and felt self-conscious. It wasn't in his nature and felt really odd. Whatever.
Nikkohydrangea walked out with him and noticed a few cats looking at him. Truthfully he didn't care, he was numb to it. There was really nothing that could top the day he attempted to end his life and woke up in the medicine cats den, aka his moms den where everyone in WinterClan knew he was "depressed" and "suicidal." When that wasn't the case, he was just bored of living, there was no trauma or sorrow, but of course everyone just had to pity him. It worked in his favor when he got out of training, but now that he was a warrior of SunClan when he thought for certain he was going to die he was only just now realizing he was going to need to learn how to hunt and fight like his mom had to.
He suddenly was aware of Bloodyrondo who was taking his time to look at the crowd, the same way he drank it all in back in WinterClan. It was a different level, but all the same he could tell Bloodyrondo felt uncomfortable. He brushed past Bloodyrondo, "Hey, I'll race you to the hot springs," He said before darting off. He hated racing, he always lost, which was no surprise since he never really trained, just observed. But he could also tell Bloodyrondo wanted to get out of there fast and if he could give him an excuse to get out of there faster he would do it for him.
Bloodyrondo stood there for a minute, watching the blue-gray pelt of his friend disappear into the main exit tunnel. It was so very unlike him to be competitive or physically active so it really caught the ginger tom off guard. Nikkohydrangea knew him well, though, because there was nothing Bloodyrondo loved more than a challenge. He didn't realize that the other tom was trying to lighten the mood but it totally worked. He lurched forward after Nikko with a smile on his face.
The Sunflower fields were the first landmark they would pass. Of course. Everything seemed to start and end in this beautiful, rolling field, "Even though you had a head start, I'll still beat you!" The Priest Promised called out. He was gaining on his friend but not fast enough to get to the hot springs before he did unless he did something drastic. Thinking on his feet, he pounced on an extremely tall sunflower, doing his best to aim its bloom at Nikko's back.
He was surprised how fast he was running, he sucked at running in WinterClan, everyone so much faster than him. But he was realizing now that the slowness was mainly due to running through massive patches of powdery snow. SunClan still had leafbare, but it was nothing like WinterClan and without any mounds of snow slowing him down it was easier to move quickly.
"Not a chance, slowpoke!" Nikkohydrangea called back teasingly, but when he turned his head around he didn't see Bloodyrondo, that alone almost made him slow down. Only problem was when he turned his head to look in front of him he felt the head of the flower smack into his back and let out a yelp falling onto his stomach. He quickly stumbled to get back up when he saw Bloodyrondo again and ran after him. He would call him a cheater, but at the same time he would have done the same thing to him if he had the opportunity. "You better watch your back now," He laughed, probably for the first time in SunClan he laughed.
Bloodyrondo hadn't ever heard Nikkohydrangea laugh before. It was so unlike him. The Priest Promised just took it as just another sign of the Sun God's power and benevolence. Yesterday Nikko had been suicidal and despondent*. Not even an hour after being initiated, here he was, running through sunflower fields with a smile of his face and not a care in the world. Bloodyrondo wouldn't think this now, but looking back he will forever treasure this moment.
The ground beneath the Priest Promised's paws was starting to grow hotter. His paws stung slightly as they transitioned from partially snow, cold ground to smooth and warm, but he only sped up. Bloodyrondo was not only expecting this but welcomed it: It meant victory was just around the corner. He could see the hot springs barely a few fox-lengths away and grinned knowing that he had won. Yet, he just couldn't stop himself from glancing back at Nikko. He was shocked to see that the other tom was right on his heels. He hadn't even heard his breathing, how had he caught up so fast!?
Bloodyrondo tensed up which caused one of his legs to cramp. He ultimately lost his footing and slid against the ground with a dull thud right in front of Nikkohydrangea's path. Their bodies crashed into each other but the force of their running propelled them forward: they twisted together and rolled for what felt like hours (but was really only seconds) before they fell into the hot springs with a big splash.
*this may not be true at all but Bloody is convincing himself of it nonetheless
Nikkohydrangea one moment was on his paws and the next had collided with Bloodyrondo, rolling for what felt like an eternity. Flashes of his own icy white paws mixed with Bloodyrondo's bright red pelt mashed together until he felt the hot water sting at his fur. He splashed fully into the water, but found it to be at the shallow end. His fur warmed to the temperature relaxing him slightly as he rolled to stand up only to fall onto Bloodyrondo's chest. "I guess we both won," He said deciding to just use Bloodyrondo as a pillow for his head as he got comfortable lying down on his chest. He flicked his icy blue gaze up to look at Bloodyrondo as though to say, go ahead, fight me on this. Nikkohydrangea was a sucky fighter, but if he was fighting to get comfy or be lazy, the game was on.
"I still can't believe-" He stopped himself before rephrasing, "I always knew that I was willing to protect you at all costs because," He hesitated, a blush forming over his cheeks, "I don't know, you're a bully and I like to make fun of you, but I've never met someone who carries as much faith and passion and heart, all the things I lack that I find in you. I guess I've always known in my heart that I'd easily give my life for you because there's so much to love about you. I couldn't imagine a world going on happily without you, but I didn't know you felt the same about me..." The whole time he kept a paw on him as though silently teasing him that he wasn't going to get out of this emotional moment and would have to face it. It showed in Nikkohydrangea's face with a slight twitch of his lip if Bloodyrondo tried to push his way out of this.
Bloodyrondo hated losing control. The moment his paws failed him he desperately tried to right himself but was unable to get a grip: This pathway was worn down by ancient water's path and many, many moons of pawsteps. He had the forethought to hold his breath before he was plunged into the warm water but he did not stay submerged very long before his head broke the surface. He blinked open his eyes and struggled to stay afloat when he felt the pressure of Nikkohydrangea's head against his chest. The new SunClan Warrior was maybe the only cat who could truly calm Bloodyrondo down; his heart beat relaxed, his breathing evened out, and he quit struggling against the otherwise still water only to find that his paws could touch the bottom all along.
"I'm pretty sure I touched the water before you did," He replied back seriously. There was really no way to prove which cat was submerged first but Bloodyrondo wasn't one to yield a victory so easily. He was also a little embarrassed, especially since Nikkohydrangea still looked and seemed to calm despite all that had happened in the past hour or so. Let me have this win, okay? He was about to say something about how nice the water felt when Nikko started getting deep. It made him... uncomfortable. Bloodyrondo had grown closer to Nikko than anyone else but he never thought much about why and what that meant. Faith, passion, love. While those words were far from taboo they usually were shared between mates, not bros... What really was Nikko trying to say? No, no, Bloody must be reading into this too much. Toms are not meant to be together* and the romance festival was just around the corner.
"Of course I feel the same about you," He scoffed a little bit sheepishly. He didn't have that unusual overconfident flare to his voice. He was happy that Nikkohydrangea couldn't get a good look at his face. The heat of the hot springs must be getting to his head, "I'm not so sure about the whole bully thing... or what you said about lacking qualities... But you're my clanmate. I'd do anything for another Chosen of the Sun." Those were really empty statements, though, and Bloody was feeling very vulnerable right now. He paused for just a second before continuing,"...I will say that I have a bit of a soft-spot for you, though. I feel responsible for your Initiation and I don't think I'd ever get over losing you like that. There aren't a lot of cats that I trust as much as your either. Ugh, sorry, I'm not good at these type of conversations. I really should have never come out here with you. I'm not myself. The water feels nice..."
*Bloody's opinion not mine! and it won't be his opinion forever lol
"I don't believe anyone would touch you first," Nikkohydrangea said in his typical pleasant sounding voice, but razor sharp witty tone before listening more closely to his friend, "But fine, I guess you're a total babe with water, makes sense, touched you first."
He folded his paw over the other, the adjustment enough to make Bloodyrondo wince as for a moment Nikko's boney arm dug into Bloodyrondo's chest, which he seemed to know full well, but didn't mind, "Yeaaah, I can tell this isn't your thing, but that's what makes you so lovable. Personally I was happy to die by the janus because you would be the last person I would see. But my life is yours to own, I have no use for it and for as much as I will annoy you, you have my loyalty because I have a soft spot for you too. Plus I... Wholeheartedly believe in you, it's why when you told me to believe I did, so please don't abuse or joke about that trust because I would jump off a cliff if you told me to." This seemed like the moment where Nikkohydrangea would get off of Bloodyrondo, but apparently he dubbed him as a good pool floaty and was just lying against him peacefully.
Bloodyrondo felt dizzy and out of breath. He assumed his condition had to do with the nature of the way he entered the water - as a healer, he was well aware that the body needed time to adjust to sudden changes in temperature. Oh yeah, and the heat of the water was what was making Bloodyrondo's heart race. And that also mean that the reason why his stomach was doing somersaults was because he literally did just a somersault. He had an explanation for it all but what he couldn't figure out was why he suddenly felt so self-conscious. He had said some pretty bold things at the ceremony. Right now all was calm, but if Nikko thought more on it later, would they still be friends? His thoughts rabbit-holed from there but thankfully Nikko's abrupt nudge in the chest drug him out of his own head.
"You shouldn't talk about yourself like that... it's probably the most annoying thing that you do." Bloody replied after his friend's words, "Your life is important. I'm your superior, yes, but all Chosen are equal before the Sun God's holy gaze. Also... I hope what you mean to say is that your life is his to own, not mine." He felt his body shift in the water well before his mind processed quite realized what he was doing. The Priest Promised's neck brushed against Nikkohygrangea's and he gave the other tom a few gentle strokes. Bloody had to remind himself that he didn't need to play Priest Promised around Nikko all the time, so his next words were more casual, more personal, "But seriously though, what you said means a lot. Any other cat aught to be jealous of what the two of us have." He drew back a little bit now, his muzzle close to Nikko's ear, and said in a hushed tone, "Nothing about you is a joke to me."
Nikkohydrangea lied there for a moment before looking into Bloodyrondo's eyes, "No, my life is yours, if you want my life to be the Sun Gods you can command me to though. Because I'm yours," He said, smirking at the end of his sentence. He could feel his heart racing as Bloodyrondo spoke and by the end it left him breathless with tears in his eyes. He swallowed hard and curled up closer to him. There was the desire to say something funny, to break the moment, but he couldn't talk, the words were stuck in his throat. He never knew there were so many things he needed to hear said and feelings he needed to experience, until Bloodyrondo spoke them. "I'll always be yours," He said in a choked whisper. It was all he could say to keep this moment.
