Bloodyrondo forced out a cough but did not call his brother out one what was obviously a purposeful act based in childish impulse. It didn't make him too upset, though, especially when he realized he could make Moonlitnocturne sweep all of the dust out of the Priest's chambers the following day. His feathery tail would be perfect for the job. He grinned at the thought of his precious, light-furred brother's pelt being covered in dirt and grime. The ginger tom chuckled and padded into his den, his intention being to finish his lesson plans, but realistically he was going to take a nap. --- Discordantpaw had taken a page from Bloodyrondo's book and presently was taking an afternoon nap herself. She didn't sleep in her den, though, and had instead found herself a nice sunning rock to relax upon and soak up her deity's warming rays. She looked extraordinarily content and at peace. Her whiskers were twitching and her paws were moving ever so slightly as she hunted some sort of prey in her dreams.

Moonlit could have walked around with the stupid blindfold on, he learned how to navigate in the dark easily after leaving Sunclan. Whiskers brushed against things, even the tips of his fur were hypersensitive. Still, the blindfold fell off and he didn't bother trying to fix it. Now he looked like a poor makeshift lion, one walking around and stopping to smell the air for his apprentice before continuing further. As if his brother wasn't a pain enough, his half-sibling wasn't much better. But was on the simple fact that she was less annoying than him. Even with his eyes open, he stuck to the shadows, stook to using his other senses to navigate. Cause that felt like the best way to spite the Sun.
There was a pang in his heart when he finally found Discordantpaw, sunning herself. He wasn't sure why, but he put the blindfold on before stumbling over to her. He started pawing at her tail and ears and paws blindly. "Hey! Is this Discordantpaw?!"
"What??!" Discordantpaw snapped awake and flailed a little bit. She would have certainly scratched up Moonlit if he had been standing closer. She came to her senses in a couple of seconds and immediately started purring, "Oh, it's just you, big brother. Why do you have leaves on your face? Are you trying to be fashionable for Jetclaw? It's certainly a mood."
She stretched to her feet and yawned. The angle of the sun's rays highlighted each fleck of dust or dirt that she moved and it hovered around her head like fog. The apprentice had really grown up lately, not quite her full size but certainly getting her shape. Still, Discordantpaw had a lot of training left to do, despite all that spunk she didn't take much of her training seriously and was behind her littermates in both fighting and hunting.

He could feel the paws against his whiskers and backed up slightly. Though he relaxed the instant she started purring. "Gross." Moonlitnocturne immediately said when she suggested this was for Jetclaw. "Though I almost wish. The Promised Fool has decided I will be a cat for a day and not use my eyes." A shocking revelation, truly. And a bizarre punishment, but it was one he was stuck with. Least till the mask slipped off again and a blue eye suddenly met Discordantpaw's. "Anyway," He pushed the blind back up a little, knowing he had to make a decent warrior out of her somehow, "We gotta keep training though, you can't just lay in the sun all day."
"Well then how about we train in the maze? You won't need that blind on your face down there. We can practice fighting in close quarters!" Discordantpaw suggested. It was remarkable how quickly this young cat could go from a dead sleep to full-on ready for some fun. It was also so, so like her to try and suggest where they were going. The calico tended to drag other cats around with her on all kinds of missions. No one quite knew why: she had a fearless nature and certainly did not need another cat with her to go on an adventure, "Maybe even Contaminatepaw can come and give us some pointers. Or Mountainsound or Nightshadeintuition or Hazedmoon or Unseenlights. Ever thought about how weird it is that there as so many blind cats in SunClan? Perhaps it's because they all stare at the sun too much."

This was just like Discordantpaw. To drag him off on another of her fantasies. But it was better than trying to walk around with this horrid thing on. And it gave him a chance to teach her a few things about navigating in the dark. "Sure." Moonlitnocturne almost sounded like he was forcing the words out, mostly cause he was used to pushing those ideas into the ground. "You'll have to guide me to o-" He started, but then stopped at her question. "Maybe so. Maybe Bloody should ask them how important the Sun is to them. That'd go real well."
Discordantpaw flashed her mentor a smile that he couldn't see, "Yay! This will be a lot of fun!" Tapped her half-brother on the shoulder with her tail tip to lead him like some seeing eye dog. Sure, he was fully capable of finding the cave entrance with his eyes closed on a normal day, but she felt the need to be helpful anyways, "Do you know if there were every any battles in the tunnels before? Sometimes I swear I hear echoes down there that sounds like dying yowls. It's really creepy, too, especially when the ground is warm and damp. Feels like blood. But you can't see it to tell."

"Not that I'm aware of, but that's probably just mud." Moonlitnocturne followed along, still feeling along with his whiskers but keeping close to Discordantpaw. It really sounded like the tortoiseshell apprentice had let her imagination get the better of her. "Or the decaying bodies from the Great Doozler War are reaching out to get you."
"What in Sun God's name is a Doozler? Why did it have a war and what makes it great?" Discordantpaw was smart enough - and well informed enough - to know that this story likely was untrue. It did not change the fact that she desperately wanted to hear it, though. They were in the tunnels now but light was still filtering through in a few places. She didn't need it, though, she knew the maze better than most and, at least on the main pathways, could tell where she was thanks to the grove of hundreds of pawsteps that had worn their way into the sandstone.

Of course he was lying. They both knew that. Despite everything that happened today, he felt good enough to spin a tale for her. The earth underneath him dipped, but he didn't need to crouch to be able to walk through the tunnels. One boon to being so short. "The Doozler was a special rank in Sunclan. Back in Dribblestar's days. They were to traverse the tunnels, and act as spies on the other clans and a final line of defense for Sunclan. They could come out, but most chose to live in the tunnels. Some even dug new tunnels, but I'm getting off track. One day, a clan who's name escapes history discovered the existence of the Doozlers. They tried to use the Doozlers to their advantage, sending some to convince them to switch sides. It wasn't long until the Doozlers couldn't figure out who was on their side or not. Tensions rose. Then, on a day. The clan surrounded the entrances of the tunnels and yowled into them as loud as they could. The echoes reverberated against the walls, so it sounded like there were more cats then there were, and the Doozlers went into a panic. Killing each other in the dark, unable to tell who was friend or foe. Every Doozler died that day, some still haunting this place to this day." Just to drive the point home, he pressed one of Discordant's paws into the ground with his own, mimicking a Doozler grabbing her.
Discordantpaw's fur bristled at thought of every cat in the Clan screaming into the tunnels all at once. It was already real echoey down here when it was just her and her brother. The thought made her skin crawl: loud noises, or even noises she could not identify, were like nails on a chalkboard to her. Still, the idea of a Doozler was very appealing to her, and it reminded her of the Renegade Regime. Were they the decedents of the Doozlers!? Oh, who was she kidding, she knew it was all a fairy tale but the idea was appealing nontheless. She'd definitely be telling this story to her future kits with a few liberal embellishments.
"The Sun God probably didn't want to look after cats who avoided his face," She said like a proper cult member although her voice was a bit sarcastic. She wouldn't dare mock the Sun God in front of any other SunClan cat but she was talking to Moonlitnocturne, after all, "Those poor, pitiful Doozlers, what an unfair demise! Perhaps if only they had used ---" Just then, Discordantpaw slipped down one of the more slide-like tunnels, one she knew about but had forgotten in the moment. She was literally there one second and gone the next without so much as a gasp.

Moonlitnocturne couldn't help but wonder if there really was some grain of truth to the fantasy. What was the original purpose of these tunnels? They were just a bit too spacious for him to think they were natural. Paws squished down into the mud, and stuck too much. He couldn't help but look down at them briefly, even though he couldn't see anything.
But neither could Discordantpaw as Moonlit rolled his eyes. "Spoken like a true cult member. I hate it. And yet, I know that's the ending they'd force into the story." More monotone than usual. He really couldn't see it, why they force such morals into stories. It was a kind of thought that made his decision to retreat to the tunnels when his sight was removed ironic. Just like that, Discordantpaw was gone. Moonlit barely caught the feeling of the ground sloping underneath him and pulling himself up. "Discordant?" Like that, he was utterly alone. If the wind blew above, he'd swore it was the whispers of the damned. The mud only gripped him one more time before he forced himself to slide down after her.
Discordantpaw was pretty sure she knew exactly where she was, although, now that it was really was pitch black, all she had were his whiskers and her wits to determine it. She padded forward until she felt the curve of the wall and sat still for a moment, leaning against it, waiting for Moonlit to catch up. She had heard his call and the resulting echoes were evidence enough that he was coming down after her.
Wait... was this, perhaps, a test? It was her idea to come down here and her mistake that got her in this particular tunnel, but they had descended for training purposes. She instinctively dropped into a crouch and tensed as she heard her brother's footsteps approaching from... wait, that could not be right. Behind her!? Discordantpaw whipped around only to be bowled over by something big that was most certainly not Moonlitnocturne. The creature yowled and grabbed hold of her with its claws causing Discordantpaw to howl in pain and surprise, "MOONLIT THERE'S A DOOZLER DOWN HERE!!!!!"

Moonlitnocturne hadn't had the chance to explore the tunnels as much as he would have liked to. So the system was a blur as he skidded down the slope as it tore a few hairs out from his paws. If he even had the mask, it was long gone, not that he had the time to remember one way or the other. The slide spat him out with a thud, and he immediately pulled himself to his paws before shuffling around. Great, now where were they? The path only went forward though, so she must have gone that way, right? Now he wasn't sure. Just as he was getting his bearings, Discordantpaw's howl echoed throughout his whole system. What. A Doozler? He definitely just made those up. The Janus ran towards the sound as fast as he could, the tunnel walls scraping his whiskers before he flung himself in the direction of the noise. He almost would have believed it was another prank, but the thing he landed on was definitely not Discordantpaw. Moonlit kicked at its feet, grabbing onto any part of its shoulder and back he could to try and pry it off of her.
"WHERE AM I?!" The Doozler howled and thrashed around, her voice was feminine but booming, echoing up and down the tunnels in a cadence of dread. Now that Moonlitnocturne had his claws in her, she let out another caterwaul and shook herself, revealing that this creature was actually huge and very, very fluffy. It twisted and turned as it tried to regain control of what was going on but the scent of fear and adrenaline was nearly overpowering. Up close now, the scent of this creature was most definitely feline, but not quite pure SunClan. It was from... Mountain Clan, too?
"WHO ARE YOU? WHAT IS GOING ON? SOMEONE COME SAVE ME!"
Disorcordantpaw whimpered and put her paws over her ears, trying and failing to diminish the screaming of the Doozler. She was very sensitive to loud sounds and this one boomed like thunder in these tunnels.

The first thing Moonlitnocturne felt was the feathery long fur of the creature. The second thing was he heard it speak? A cat. Here? No, it can't be a Doozler. He just made that up. But what if it was? Its fur was too long for Sunclan, even longer than his own pelt. Wrenching it away from Discordantpaw, he was able to flip them in the panic and pin it down to the ground. While definitely smaller than it, Moonlitnocturne kept it pinned with the help of the ceiling above them. In the caverns, he had an advantage. "Name." He demanded simply, pressing down against her ribcage steadily.
The false Doozler squirmed beneath Moonlitnocturne's grasp but she was much too panicked to coordinate a proper counter. Eventually she quit struggling altogether and went limp and, as her breathing evened out, she recognized the cat that was on top of her, "Moonlitnotcurne, is that you? Oh boy am I glad to see another cat down here!" Instead of resisting the pin, she did a total 360 and now embraced him, her fluffy fur surely giving the tom a sensation similar to drowning when combined with all of this darkness, "I've been lost down here for hours and hours! More than I can count! Did you come down here to save me? Oh, thank the Sun God, he really does care about me! I could kiss you! Actually, can I kiss you?"
Discordantpaw removed her paws from her ears and sighed. She padded over to Moonlitnocturne's side, "Kissy, he asked for your name."
"He what?" She asked, confused, "Did you come down here to save me?! I've been lost for hours and hours and hours!"
"Uh... Sure."
--- *I realize now that bringing Kissy in kind of messes with timelines but whatever who cares about continuity LOL*

(eh it's fine)
It couldn't be seen, but Moonlitnocturne tilted his head slightly at the voice. And the fact that it recognized him and he didn't recognize it was a bad sign. Her pulling him down into the embrace didn't help, and he reflexively fought against it. His paws flailed uselessly against the wall and ground, he could barely process what she was saying. Well, except for that last part. The kind to give him brief pause and to stop struggling momentarily before letting out a soft but stern, "No." The name Kissy rang some bell, some brand new initiate or whatever. "And for the record, this was a stroke of luck for you. No one reported you missing. Now let me go...please."
