Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
It had been one day since the events of Novaclan and the flood. With everything going on, the gray she-cat had her paws full tending to the injured and reorganizing the clan. Now it was time to deal with two of their own that had been involved in all of this. She had order the other Janus to bring Moonlitnocturne from the prisoner's den to her own, and had called Bloodyrondo to come and meet her here. Sure she could have just had him killed or exiled, but the Sun God had made one thing clear. What this cat needed was structure and education, not the extreme punishments. The Sun God had guided her towards the solution of what to do with him, and now it was time to tell him what had been decided.
Bloodyrondo was the first to arrive. He was decorated elaborately as always, this time with metallic beetles wings weaved into his forehead fur around a painted blood-red sun; they almost looked like another set of eyes that shimmered depending on the angle of the light that hit them. He had not fought during the battle of NovaClan and had instead focused on damming up the flood. As a result, he thought himself if not solely responsible then at least largely responsible for the success of thwarting the water. He had been acting a little more high and mighty but also a little less ridiculous, more matured. Bloodyrondo was still the same cat but he had taken several lessons on restraint as of late. "Yes, Littlestar?" He said, sitting down next to the High Priestess.

Moonlitnocturne had not fully recovered from his injuries from his fight with Jetclaw. One of his ears was torn on the top, his claws were all mangled and dull, and he was still covered in cobwebs to make sure he didn't open up again. He was still prone to infection but spent his time in the prisoner den shooting the breeze with the other prisoners and guards. It was all he could do until his old mentors came to pick him up. Something about Littlestar wanting to speak to him. Even though he was hobbling, and every strip of paint had been washed away, he held his head high. He got nowhere being constantly ashamed. It was better to walk in with his confidence rather than his shame. He lost his balance a few times, caught by the others he had to thank. Nodding to the Januses, he finally slipped into the den, white fur shimmering as he slowly took a seat. He was ready. There was no worse pain than being here, so whatever they threw at him, he had to endure. Dipping his head, his voice was weak and cracked but he was still able to murmur the leader's name.
Surprising no one, Bloodyrondo smirked at Moonlitnocturne as he approached, "Look what the cats dragged in."
The flame point Janus sure got what he deserved. Bloodyrondo would never admit this, but he had always been jealous of Moonlitnocturn's good looks. It made him happy to see that they were forever marred by that torn ear. He also assumed that the wound to his brother's ego must have been large. He still looked confident, though, but Bloodyrondo was okay with imagining the tom's present weakness was due to some emotional trauma.

LITTLESTAR
SUNCLAN HIGH PRIESTESS
Littlestar resisted the urge to cuff her promised on the ear, as he smirked at his brother's appearance. Instead her tail tapped him gently on the shoulder, a silent warning that he had gone to far "Moonlitnocturne, I am glad to see that you are recovering" she had made certain to receive updates on his condition, so that she could enforce his consequences once he was well enough to do so "Although what you did is inexcusable, it seems that the Sun God is not finished with you yet. I have spent the past moon praying for his guidance on how to deal with you, and his answer was clear"
she turned her gaze onto Bloodyrondo "You have become a shining example of what a SunClan cat should be. You have remained faithful, even when faced with difficult situations. Until further notice, I am placing Moonlitnocturne under your direct command. Just as you serve the Sun God, Moonlitnocturne shall serve you. He shall follow your every command, use him to further the Sun God's work"
next she turned back to the injured Janus "should you think of refusing one of Bloodyrondos commands, remember this. The Sun God's patience only stretches so far. This is your second chance, most cats do not get a third"

Moonlitnocturne didn't even spare his brother a glance. He was finally getting out of this dump, so his mood couldn't be lowered. Vampmyers would just be stuck here, wearing his ass for a hat for the rest of his life. And Draculad got to leave, or die. Whichever, he didn't care. Even the potential abyss of death was better than this bitter life. At least he was until Littlestar spoke, and anger began to bubble in his heart. What did she mean the sun god wasn't finished with him yet? He tried to flood the clans, try to kill everything including all these pitiable worshippers. And this farce of a god wasn't done with him yet. To make things worse, he was now lower than dirt. Some plaything to be dragged around and thrown into pits at the whim of his brother. Some part of his twitched, but he couldn't tell what.
"C-Could I possibly get a word with you alone, Littlestar?" His voice was strained, like he was choking around a noose. Maybe if he just attacked, he'd get killed? If he showed some more aggression, he'd get out of this hell. Now was the only time he missed Foxstar. Least she would have killed him.

LITTLESTAR
SUNCLAN HIGH PRIESTESS
"Ask your new keeper" she replied, without even glancing at him "From now on, all that you do shall be done with Bloodyrondos permission" The gray she-cat dismissed them with a flick of her tail, not even giving the janus another opportunity to speak. He had a lot to learn, and the Sun God had made it clear that her promised would be the one to teach it to him
Glancing over her shoulder as she was about to enter into her portion of the den that she shared with Bloodyrondo "and no attacking me will not get you killed, In fact, it will only triple your workload" without missing a beat she continued on her way lightly humming some forgotten tune. It was almost as if she had been able to peer into his thoughts. In actuality the Sun God had advised her that he may try such in order to get himself killed. She had already aranged with Skipstep and Jetclaw on what to do should he incapacitate her in some manner. It wouldn't be plesant.

The noose tightened around his neck at her response. Keeper. That's what Bloody was. What Draculad needed. His eyes became like ice as he watched Littlestar disappear further back into her den. Every part of him wanted to lunge at her, sink his teeth into her throat. He didn't care what Skip or Jet did. They were just dogs, mindlessly following the order of their leader. Just like Vampmyers. His gaze shifted slowly to the orange priest promised, looking right at his throat rather than in the eyes. "You're gonna play along with her stupid games, huh? Be another pawn?" Anger began to rise in his voice, but he shook his head before he kept going. "Forget it."
Something about watching his brother falter and crumble like this gave Bloodyrondo immense joy. His brother looked much how Bloodyrondo felt when the undeserving traitor was somehow promoted to Janus all those moons ago. He had spent much of his life in Moonlitnocturne's shadow and today he truly, truly felt that he had surpassed him, in every way possible. Pretty little Draculad had hit rock bottom and his only way out was through Blooyrondo's good graces. He sat grinning like the cat who finally got the canary as Littlestar and Moonlit went back and forth.
Bloodyrondo stood up when Littlestar did but did not move a paw. He saw Moonlitnocturne's gaze settle at his throat and lowered his head to meet him eye-to eye, much like how a mother would look down on a kit who was in trouble. He answered his brother's rising anger with a quiet, but smoldering, tone, "Oh, don't be like that, brother. You have fallen off the Sun's path more than once yet He still warmly welcomes you. It's a blessing, although I'm sure you think it's a curse, in that twisted little mind of yours. It'll be okay. You will see our side of things in time."

HE was the twisted one? What a load of bull. Moonlit hated it. He didn't want his good graces, didn't want this second chance, didn't want to learn. He wanted... to be left alone. At this point, he needed to find some way to leave. Or find a way for Vampmyers to give up on him. To be a better paper weight than a Janus. Besides, wasn't any other punishment they could give him would be what he wanted? Anything physical was fine. He was tired of the mind games. Pain was beginning to bloom in him again. It was supposed to be warm but he was freezing.
"Then let me lie then. And keep walking forward." Moonlit didn't get Vampmyers perspective. He'd never been anything special, just a rebel that learned how to fight well. Nothing compared to now. Sure, Little told him too and he was a suck up. But he could lie. It'd save them both a lot of headache. "See. Like this." Dramatically falling to the ground with a thud, he bit his tongue, hitting a bruise that was almost done healing. "Now...go."
"Oh, don't be so dramatic, you're an adult, act like one," Bloodyrondo said, looming over his brother's face, nose to nose. He couldn't believe how pathetic Moonlitnoctunre was acting. He couldn't wait to drag this cat from his lowest point and make him something even the Sun god would be proud of, "I wasn't going to tell you this today. I'm not so cruel as to put a sick cat to work, but since you seem so curious..," He paused, watching the expression on his brother's face closely, then continued, "The Amphitheater has not been used to its fullest potential in many moons. I realize that this is because the Januses have been... busy. Skipstep has kits. Funkson is a kit. You are.. you. So I'll step up and train you in what it really means to be a Janus. Starting at the beginning of the romance festival, and every moon after that, you will assist me in teaching classes. They will open to all members of SunClan, but targeted mainly for initiates who do not know our customs. You and I will take turns leading these lessons. I will plan all of the until you are.. reformed. Then you will pick them up with the rest of the Janus as it should be."
The ginger tom stepped back and flashed Moonlit a grin. He was clearly very proud of his idea and exited to implement it, "So really, you can think of your punishment as job training. Hardly a punishment at all, no?"
(I will post a thread once a month for these "classes." I'm gonna have a whole lesson plan written up so you don't have to worry about anything like that! We will only roleplay 1 class per month but technically they would hold the same class a few times so everyone has the chance to attend. Bloody would run some and Moonlit others. The first one will one Family themed)

"And you're some promised fool. Stop acting like you're trying to prove your better than me and I'll consider it." Moonlitnocturne shrugged, not finding it in himself to move. Still, that didn't stop him from pushing Bloody's face out of his own. He didn't seem the type to understand personal space. Still, he stopped trying to understand him long ago. And only drummed his claws against the ground as Bloody spelled out his punishment. He blinked. And then he blinked again. Even when the Promised Fool (TM) took a step back, the cream Janus just waited for some punchline. Some "lick my boots" kinda dumb. But that was it. Still, Moonlit knew Bloody thought this through. It was a punishment. To have to preach the very things that indoctrinated his friends and family. It was rather cruel. "Very well. Indulge your lowly prisoner in a single question." He rested his head against his paw, double-jointed to where he rested the weight on his elbow.
"You can't talk to me like that anymore." Bloodyrondo hissed, although his body-language was still rather relaxed. He had expected a response like this, "Remember that Littlestar has given me exclusive control to your punishments. This means I can also can interpret what defines an offense. I didn't want to be too hard on you given your... condition... but that doesn't mean I won't change my mind. You're on thin ice, Draculad."
The ginger tom unsheathed a claw and put it up against Moonlit's throat. He loved watching his brother squirm. He could tell that the disobedient Janus did not like being touched by him which was the main reason he decided to do it. Bloodyrondo's movement was more of a cress and would have felt like little more than a tickle, but the message was clear, "Though I am not without reason. I'll listen to your question, but I might not answer it."
Post by strawberrycupid on Feb 2, 2020 19:30:57 GMT -5
But then what would be the punishment? Moonlit was already unhappy and about to half-ass everything Bloody told him to do. If he got tortured, or experimented on, or killed, it was better than this. Least that's what he kept telling himself. He finally pulled himself up. "As you see fit, oh court jester. Yet know that for every lash of Sun God's holiness you impress onto me, I will pay you back 10 times with darkness." It was a silly statement in hindsight, but Moonlit knew one thing. He would not allow his brother to break him.
"You done?" Moonlit's expression blanked as Bloody's claw went against his throat. The desire to smack him away was almost too strong, but he kept himself rooted through sheer force of will. "Relax, younger brother. It's a simple question. What is the Sun's will for all of his followers?" and why the hell was he worth following. but he held his tongue for now.
"You are an idiot if you think that there will ever be an answer to that question. I know better than to try and understand the Sun God's will. Even our Soothsayer struggles with it." Bloodyrondo scoffed, pulling his claw away and putting a little distance between him and his brother. It really was a stupid question. The Sun God made decisions that Bloodyrondo loved and hated equally, but, even if he complained, he never doubted. All came together perfectly in the end, every single time, and that was enough for him, "The Sun God acts in ways that mortals like us will never understand. His will is always for the betterment of the Chosen, even if the reason is not clear for many moons. I'm sure you will find some way to poke fun at that answer, and, as much as I'd love to indulge you, I have much better things to do with my time. Now you tell me, big brother, why is it so hard for you to accept the Sun God when he has given you so much?"
Post by strawberrycupid on Feb 4, 2020 20:42:28 GMT -5
Huh. Moonlit thought there was no such thing as a stupid question. But then, he should never expect grace from Bloodyrondo. He never has been, he probably never will be. Yet he still went and answered the question. He didn't get it. It felt too back and forth, too blind of a faith for him to get behind. How could you be sure that he wishes for the betterment of his people if you never try and understand his will? The small tom shook his head, puffing out his chest somewhat, "And you're an idiot for being so blind to your own faith." He pushed his voice deeper, imitating Bloody before going back to his normal tone. "Seriously, he's given me nothing. All he's given you is some more hot air in that head of yours."
Bloodyrondo had managed to play the mature one up until now, but he was cracking; Moonlitnocturne had had a lifetime to figure out what made his brother tick, after all. The Priest Promised approached the Janus once more but this time with a low, permeating growl. His whole body was tense, his patience gone. Bloodyrondo was not terribly intimidating, but the fire in his eyes was palpable, "You can - and, in fact, do - insult me all day long. But you will not disrespect the Sun God in the same way. I'm not the one who is blind."
He couldn't let Moonlitnocturne get away with this behavior, but it wasn't like he had any immediate punishment planned. So, Bloodyrondo made up something on the spot. The Priest Promised padded into his den and came back with a few large leaves and some small vines. He tied them together into a crude blindfold, "You'll wear this for the rest of the day. I think you'll be quick to realize just how important the Sun is in your life."

That did it. This was just their relationship. Even before Draculad ran away, or before they joined Sunclan in the first place. Always trying to one-up each other, always trying to win. Bloody was the firecracker, able to run forward and play an intense but short game. Moonlit had learned how to outlast him, but it was hard. His own fuse was long and burnt slowly. Of course, if it was ever burnt through, his anger tended to result in a fight. Still, he forced the smile down, staring right into that fire. He wasn't sure if it was a new sort of fire, but it certainly was just as intense. "It's a conversation, dear brother. You have to understand the outsider's perspective if you want to change it after all."
Moonlit figured Bloody was already trained, given all the stock phrases he needed to try and push him down. But he figured too highly. When the makeshift blindfold came out, his whiskers twitched in amusement. Did... he really think this would work? His name was freaking Moonlit. Nocturne. He was fine in the dark. Hiding his pride for now, he bowed his head slightly for Bloodyrondo to put it on him. "Of course."
Bloodyrondo had expected a bit more of a fight from Moonlit, or at least an insult. Even he could recognize that the punishment was kind of stupid. Yet, his brother accepted it easily enough, and the Priest Promised placed the contraption over the other tom's eyes. He had to hold back his own laughter by how ridiculous he looked. The leaves were much too big for the task. He really should have trimmed them down a little bit; it couldn't be comfortable. Whatever, it did the job. He was a little proud of it. Not the mask, no, he was proud that Moonlit actually obeyed him. Was he finally getting through to his wretched, lost-cause of a brother? It would depend on whether or not he really kept the mask on all day.
"You can take it off when the sun sets. You'll need to return it to me at that time; I'll be right here. You can tell me all about what you have learned at that time. Now, don't you have an apprentice now? You should go train her and give me some peace and quiet while I work out the lesson plans for this month."

"Please laugh at your hideous job." Moonlit blew a leaf slightly off the bridge of his nose, not that it went anywhere. He could almost see out of the corners of it, but he stopped bothering and just closed his eyes. It wasn't gonna stay on, already feeling like it was too big for his small frame. Still, when he mentioned going to train Discordantpaw, it did give him an idea on what he could do. Still... did his brother forget about whiskers? That they were naturally nocturnal? "Fine, Promised Fool. Not that I'll know when the sun sets with this thing on." The cream janus turned on his paw, definitely faking a misbalance so he could kick some dust on Bloodyrondo, before walking out of the den perfectly fine. Even the slight movement when he walked made the blindfold bounce and shift.
