Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Raspberrypaw looked behind her at camp and with a breath she sucked in she quietly trekked out into the dirt placed and into the dark forest. Soaringbird, her mom, her dad, they were being called not her real parents and it just wasn't true! But at the same time she couldn't stay in the clan that threatened her parents like that. What if Flamingstar thought she would turn on her? What would she do to her than? Then again where was she even going to go if she left NightClan for good? Become a kittypet? If she was caught leaving she'd probably be grounded in camp for moons doing chores and if she was being honest with herself she was pretty obedient. If that happened to her it was easy to learn her lesson and be too intimidated to leave again so this first attempt would just have to work. The yellow and white doe patterned she-cat carefully crept across the territory, the rogue border was a bit far and she had hardly broke away from camp when she heard a noise. It was in this moment where normally she'd stay till and forget she was a super bright cat unlike most NightClan cats, but instead found herself questioning it. Why was she brightly colored? She shouldn't be if she was a NightClan cat. Raspberrypaw shook the thought from her mind and instead backed up a little into the darkness not knowing that her muzzle was still sticking out a bit.
(I'm throwing this into fate, she could get caught and brought back or run away successfully, totally up to whoever's replying to this!)
Of all the cats that could have found Raspberrypaw trying to escape, Turublentsea was probably one of the cats she would have dreaded the most. After all it had been is revelation that had drove her mother out of the clan. But then again, he was one of the few cats that knew the truth, and had seen the young cat's mother for himself. He had been out here gathering herbs for Blazepaw. The young cat had been in terrible shape since that day, and he was determined to help him. It wasn't that he didn't suspect what Raspberrypaw was up to, but instead of yelling and screaming he simply stated "Good, you can help me carry this back to camp for your brother" he batted a bundle of herbs that he had gathered and it rolled slowly over the uneven ground until it landed at her paws.
He turned back to the plant at hand, plucking a few more stems and placing them into the leaf before him. "I'm worried about him..." his voice trailed off as if he was far away, and not really speaking to apprentice next to him. He couldn't help but to blame himself, even if he had felt like he was doing the right thing at the time. "The tremors may have stopped, but that doesn't mean he is out of the woods"
"Maybe if you hadn't stressed him out so much he wouldn't be so hurt you-you... Stinky doo doo fox headed maggot!" Raspberrypaw yelled before covering her muzzle with a paw and speaking more lowly, "You were really mean for doing that, why would you say such things? I mean, even if it were true, which it's not! If I had stayed in BrookClan what would have happened to me? BrookClan's gone, NightClan's still here. I don't know why Flamingsoul had to be so mean..." Her entire body deflated as her tail fell, however she lifted her head, "I can bury this for you so you can come back to it, but I can't stay here. It won't be long till the sun begins to set and the clan will wake up. Plus you're just good at getting cats into trouble, you'll probably taddle on me when I get back."
"If you really wish to go, it won't be me that stops you. You are old enough to make your own choices" he replied honestly, flicking his tail in indifference to her rather mean comments. Perhaps part of him felt like he deserved her harsh words "but with Soaringbird banished, I would have thought that you of all cats would at least stay long enough to ensure Blazepaw is stabilized and take her a bit of hopeful news as you go"he continued with his task before his gaze onto her
"Soaringbird made her own decision when she took you and your siblings from your mother, if that was right or wrong is not up for me to decide. What I do know is that she broke the warrior code, and she needed to take responsibility for her actions..." he paused, looking back down at the herbs "I didn't know Flamingstar was going to act so drastically..." regret seeped into his voice "I made a mistake in telling her, but you and your siblings deserved to know the truth of your heritage. To know who your blood parents are. The clan deserved to know the truth about the cat they had chosen to lead them"
An evil chuckling came from the shadows of the forest before a dark ginger tabby appeared into the light, her cold turquoise eyes illuminating in the moonlight giving them the impression that they were glowing. The two cats instantly recognized her as Nightclan's new fearsome leader. She gave Turbulentsea a warning glare about his choice of words. Then her gaze flicked to where Raspberrypaw was attempting to hide. "Mean, she says" the she-cat mewed half to Turbulentsea as she approached Raspberrypaw's hiding place. "My dear...oh my poor foolish, child." The leader poked her head into the shadow that Raspberrypaw was hiding in and grabbed the apprentice's tail and pulled her out into the open. "If you wanted to be sneaky, perhaps you should have left in the morning. Have you forgotten? Nightclan cats are nocturnal. We come out at night, hence the name. And with that bright colored fur, you might have had a chance in the day time." The leader stroked the apprentice's cheek with her feathery tail. "Where are you off to, my dear? I sure hope you weren't escaping." As she said the word 'escaping', she had leaned in close to Raspberrypaw's muzzle and then retreated after she had finished. She waited for the apprentice's excuse, staring coldly down at her.
Turbulentsea scoffed as the leader made herself made herself known by dragging out the young cat into the light, he moved forward shoving himself between the apprentice and NightClan's new leader "Your the foolish one if you believe I will stand idly by while you bully the members of this clan" a low warning growl grumbled in his throat as his pressed his face to hers, and pulled Raspberrypaw behind him. Flamingstar may have had the other cats in the clan running scared, but Turbulentsea was different. There were some lines that even he wouldn't cross. Soaringstar may have broken the code, but this apprentice had not.... yet.
"I may have allowed you to expose Soaringstar for what she was, but this apprentice has done nothing wrong. She was helping me gather herbs for her sick brother" he kicked her herb bundle that now lied at his feet towards Flamingstar "I'm assuming you don't have a problem with that" He then took a step backwards letting his thin tail drape over Raspberrypaw's shoulder, his gaze narrowed on Flamingstar daring her to say other wise. Taking on a leader who had broken the code was one thing, but trying something against the medicine cat that a majority of the clan trusted was quiet another.
Raspberrypaw's fur bristled, but her heart stopped, Flamingstar. Flamingstar's mere presence made her stomach turn and her tail would have gone under her legs if Flamingstar hadn't grabbed it first, "I-" She let out a whimper as the leader stuck her face close, she could feel the warmth of her breath close to her face and throat. She closed her eyes for a moment half expecting to be bitten, not killed, but hurt for sure. When she opened her eyes Flamingstar had retreated back, she hadn't hurt her. Yet. Her heart soared as she looked to Turbulentseas, he was defending her, lying for her even. But it wouldn't be a lie if she helped him out... Unless Flamingstar was watching them far longer than they knew and heard what she had said. Her amber eyes moved to the left of her as she got to her paws. Fighting she wasn't the best at, but running, definitely. She was positive she could out race Flamingstar if she got the chance and right now she had one. But Turbulentseas had stood up for her and if there was a chance Flamingstar hadn't heard what was said than maybe they could both save themselves and forget about this awful night.
"I was just going to help Turbulentseas to take care of my brother," Raspberrypaw said, but her voice trembled. She was scary, the big scar, the way she could easily stand over her. Soaringstar had always been so strong to her and the way Flamingstar was able to just turn everyone against someone as bold as her mom meant that it would be easy for Flamingstar to do anything she wanted to her.
The Nightclan leader pinned her ears back as Turbulentsea pushed himself between her and the apprentice. "How dare you disrespect me, Turbulentsea? Must I remind you whose in charge now? You may be the medicine cat but you are not to make the final decision. I wasnt born yesterday, Turbulentsea. I may be new to the leadership role but I'm no fool. From what this sad little apprentice just said out loud, 'I can't stay here' and your response 'If you really want to go, I won't stop you' indicates that she was planning on leaving." She flicked her eyes from Tubulentsea to Raspberrypaw and back again. "I followed her scent out of camp and yours was not with hers. Yours veered off before it was rejoined." She got close to the medicine cat, muzzle to muzzle, "dont you ever try to lie to me again, Turbulentsea." She retreated and lowered her gave to the cowering apprentice.
Flamingstar's cold stare met Raspberry's and she bared her teeth, "As for you. You are to be confined to camp and work as my personal assistant as punishment for not only trying to escape but for also lying to me."
"Soaringbird thought she was in charge as well, and we both know how that ended" he threatened, not backing down from his stance or flinching away from her gaze. He normally didn't challenge her authority in front of other, but If she wanted to play a game threats, he would play "Raspberrypaw here was saying she couldn't stay and help me much longer, because she wanted to check on Blazepaw before her siblings woke up to find her not in her nest. She asked if she could help me this morning, but I left before she had awaken. So she came out here to find me upon awakening. She would rather her siblings not know that she out here helping me out gathering herbs, less they tease her for it."
He replayed the conversation over carefully in her mind, making sure to cover his basis. "She wanted to return to camp before her siblings and mentor realized she wasn't there. Of course I couldn't force her stay. Im not her keeper. Why do you think she was burring the herbs before returning? She didn't want them to Best let her return to camp before the awaken if you don't want them calling her 'leaf gatherer' and 'bug breathe''" he stopped looking her straight in the eyes in a challenge
"besides we both know your problem isn't with her"
"Really? Then why did you tell her that she should stay to make sure Blazepaw was 'stablized' so she could bring good news to her mother?" Flamingstar was getting irritated with Turbulentsea. She knew he was lying. "Watch yourself, medicine cat. Your on thin ice," she growled. There wasnt much she could do to Turbulentsea. It wasnt like she could confine him to camp or exile him. She needed him especially since Ahava had only just begun her training. She couldn't afford to lose him but she would have to do something if he didn't stop lying to her. "My problem isnt with Raspberrypaw, your right. But I can't have her running to Soaringbird, now. Revealing secrets to another clan is very dishonorable. This apprentice is doing wrong and must be punished."
There was an anxious weakness in Raspberrypaw's eyes as she looked back and forth from Flamingstar and Turbulentseas. She was forcing herself to stay still, but had the mad urge to turn tail and run. Everything in her mind told her to stay still and calm so she did, but she wasn't sure what she was going to do if Flamingstar decided to take things into her own paws and drag her back. Maybe Turbulentseas had convinced the leader to think otherwise though. Her ears flattened, it was a dumb thing to worry about in the moment, but she was never going to made a warrior anytime soon or if she was she was probably going to get a horrible warrior name! Like... Loudmouth or Dirtyrat. Then again her name was Raspberry and she was very scared of raspberries so her name was already a bit cursed as it was and wait, no she was getting off topic in her mind again. Once more her eyes darted to the left when Flamingstar wasn't falling for it. Okay, she could just make a run for it now. Turbulentseas stood between her and the leader, that would buy her sometime!
"Oh um... A squirrel!" Raspberrypaw said and with that began to run faster than the winds had time to keep up with her. If she was caught could she blame it on a squirrel? Of course, squirrels were vile creatures, anyone would believe that. Except for Squirrelleap because his name was squirrel so that could come off as offensive to him. She got distracted again and had to slow down to avoid tripping over some roots before proceeding forward. The hard part was the rivers coming up, she couldn't run or hop over them so she'd have to just run along side it till she got to a part that was more shallow.
Turbulentsea had opened his mouth to argue, as the apprentice behind him shouted something about a squirrel and took off away from them. He muttered a curse under his breathe "Now see what you have down" he growled, his tail lashing with frustration. He spun around to see the apprentice darting off into the bushes "You need to learn when to keep your mouth shut"
Flamingstar sighed with frustration as the apprentice darted off, rolling her eyes. Her ears pinned back again and she bared her teeth at Turbulentsea, stepping forward. "I need to keep my mouth shut? None of this would have happened if you hadn't blurted out Soaringbird's secret! Dont you put the blame on me! You screwed everything up! You should keep your mouth shut!" The leader lashed her tail, her fur bristling. "I will deal with you later." She growled before turning and chasing after Raspberrypaw. If the apprentice escaped, she would go find her mother and tell her everything happening in Nightclan and then her mother would get reinforcements to come after Flamingstar.
The ginger leader raced forward, her paws thrumming the ground. It wasnt long before she saw Raspberrypaw come back into view. The apprentice was heading for the rivers. As she ran, she gained more and more ground, getting closer and closer to the apprentice. She eventually got close enough to stop the apprentice. Flamingstar launched herself into the air and gripped Raspberrypaw with her forepaw. Unfortunately, the momentum Flamingstar had was too much and both the apprentice and the leader rolled to the water's edge.
Raspberrypaw let out a gasp and quickly dragged her paws to the ground attempting to stop before they hit the water and luckily they did, only her golden tail hit the waters edge, but they were dangerously close. She hesitated, for a moment forgetting Flamingstar had nine lives to make sure she was okay, but as soon as she remembered that Flamingstar would be okay even if she wasn't in the moment she turned tail to try and run. With the adrenaline going she hadn't even noticed Flamingstar's grip on her. She pulled for a moment looking for a stone that must have caught her, but soon realized it was Flamingstar. Raspberrypaw struggled to get up from her side, hoping to react faster than Flamingstar. Her legs felt sore from being tackled and rolled down to the waters edge and could already tell that if she did manage to run it wouldn't be nearly as fast even if the bruises were minor.
Flamingstar yanked the apprentice back down and held her down, panting. "Oh no. Your coming back to camp now!" Flamingstar climbed to her paws, one paw holding down the apprentice. "You make one move and you'll regret it," she growled in Raspberrypaw's ear. "Now, get up!"
Raspberrypaw let out a soft grunt as she was forced back down, this time complying by lying her chin down. Her ears went flat as a dogs as she listened and slowly got to her paws. Recognizing that Flamingstar likely was waiting for her to move forward she began to walk back to camp. When she got close enough to camp that she could see it she stopped short. She wasn't sure if she could willingly embarrass herself like this. "What's going to happen when we walk into camp?" Raspberrypaw asked, not daring to steal a glance back at Flamingstar.
Flamingstar flicked her tail. "Nothing." She mewed bluntly. "No one has to know what happened tonight but you will be punished. If anyone asks why, we tell them that you snuck out of camp without a warrior. They dont need to know the details."
With that Raspberrypaw walked back into camp, but as she did she quietly said, "Thank-you Flamingsoul," and walked over to the freshkill pile sitting beside it, her tail twitched in and outward curiously, "I don't know which piece of prey you want," She said, apparently deciding that being Flamingstar's assistant instantly meant finding her prey, "Hey this bird has one eye! Should I get you that one?" Apparently her overall cheery nature was hard to diminish for long because she was already back to her upbeat self or at least was outwardly trying to appear that way.
Flamingstar narrowed her eyes when Raspberrypaw thanked her. Just because she chose not to embarrass the apprentice didn't mean she wasnt still angry with her. "Whichever you think would please me" she mewed, padding over to a large rock that had a dip in it where she curled up and waited for the apprentice to bring her the prey.
Raspberrypaw shifted through the prey wondering if her mom would be disappointed in her for not fighting back every step of the way. If she had managed to run away it would have been different, but even though she would still never call Flamingstar, Flamingstar it didn't change that she had control over her, especially since she was an apprentice. Raspberrypaw trotted over with the one eyed crow, the other eye must have been pecked out in a battle. She didn't really know what prey would please Flamingstar so instead she chose the prey that she thought would look the coolest. While it was definitely humiliating having to serve the cat that banished her parents she still didn't want to intentionally make the leader mad and make things worse on herself. She placed it down in front of Flamingstar, "I guess things must be really relaxing for you now that NightClan doesn't have to worry about that alliance stuff," Raspberrypaw said, mainly hoping to remind her that, hey, there's not a lot to do and maybe she didn't need to personally assist her too much.
