Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"Here, pluck out the feathers." The leader tossed the crow back to Rapberrypaw before responding to her previous statement. "The clan doesn't need the alliance. Glowstar is just an annoying spoiled brat that has been worshipped for too long. She's got her head so far up other cats hind ends that I cant even tell where she begins and they end. Littlestar isnt terrible but she's a pushover. She follows Glowstar around like a lost kit and she cant even control her own clan. Sunclan are so full of arrogant cats with their noses in the air and they disrespect their leader and everyone around them. Nightclan doesn't need that drama. We are staying out of it. Anywhere Glowstar and Littlestar is, you know there will be trouble."
Raspberrypaw bit into the feathers tearing them out, truthfully this was a way better way of eating a bird than the way she'd been doing it. For a long time she had just eaten a chunk of bird and then would pull the feathers from her mouth before swallowing. She never knew that Glowstar or Littlestar were bad people before, maybe Burningstar was just being a good friend all these years by not telling NightClan about their true nature. Though she wasn't Burningstar anymore, she was somewhere else now and she was still stuck here. "Maybe that's why we were in an alliance with them for so long, NightClan probably had to try and be the peace makers. What will they do without us?"
Nikkopaw had decided to go back to SunClan despite her begging and pleas for him to come with her back to NightClan. He had wanted to be with his mom, now she wished he had tried to beg her to come with him, maybe then she at least wouldn't be here. But if SunClan was out of control her friend would need her, that and she often sat at SunClan's border in the dead hours of the morning to talk to SunClan cats. They never came off cranky to her. Well- actually she was really bad at judging peoples characters, it's why she tended to not judge anyone at all. Her ears drooped in thought and she really shouldn't have judged Turbulentseas like that, he was just looking out for her. Plus she called him a stinky doo doo fox headed maggot, that was like the worst thing you could call someone!
"Also do you maybe think I could have some time later to apologize to Turbulentseas? I was really a rotten cat to him," Raspberrypaw said.
(Raspberrypaw's replies are always so long because she thinks so much in such a short amount of time from getting lost in her thoughts LOL)
( haha it's okay! I prefer long replies! It makes the thread more interesting and not so boring!)
Flamingstar nodded, "I suppose so but he probably deserved it." There wasnt many cats Flamingstar actually respected. She couldn't even respect Turbulentsea even though he had basically helped her get this position. Although, now that he had slipped Soaringbird's secret, Flamingstar knows she cant trust the medicine cat. She was afraid to tell him anything with the fear of him going off and telling someone. "Glowstar is the one you really need to look out for. She's little miss perfect and highly respected by everyone and loved dearly. A cat doesn't become that popular without having a dark secret or doing something wrong to climb the latter." The truth was, Flamingstar was rather jealous. Although Flamingstar had managed to do just what Glowstar had done, she was still liked much more than the Nightclan leader. Glowstar was respected by her entire clan and respected by other clans. Flamingstar barely had her own clan on her side. Even her own apprentice hated her guts. Fierypaw never knew it but Flamingstar knew and had heard what the apprentice had said about her. Tubulentsea didn't respect her, cats were trying to escape, and cats still talked about wanting Burningstar to return. After all Flamingstar had done to get what she had always wanted, it was not all it was cracked up to be. She just wanted her family to be proud of her but now everyone hated her. A lump formed in Flamingstar's throat as she thought about it but she quickly swallowed it down.
"I mean Glowstar was an assassin! I thought she would be scarier looking, maybe that's why she was good at killing people. I like her in DayClan though because at least that means she's not killing people," Rapsberrypaw paused in the middle of plucking feathers, jeez she sure hoped she wasn't still killing people, but if she was someone probably would have said something by now. Like Foxbane had been a dangerous leader, but everyone knew that so if Glowstar was dangerous everyone would know that too. "I guess Glowstar is kind of a weirdo, y'know? Like what do I really know about Thistlestar or Maplestar? But I could tell you a lot about Glowstar, it's like a person can already know her before they meet her. She's so honest, I bet that's why people like her, she feels safe. I wouldn't like her as a clan leader though, I don't think clan leaders should be that honest about things to everyone."
She had to think back, was Burningstar ever that honest like Glowstar was? She was pretty sure her aunt had kept things brief and talked only within the Pride. She really hoped that was her aunt. She sniffed, this was really the first week of her life that she was feeling any kind of negativity. Her parents were gone and everyone felt that they were liars. She was almost certain that the clan didn't even consider her or her littermates to be Soaringbird and Rasputins kits.
Raspberrypaw nudged the crow over to Flamingstar, "Here you go Flamingst-soul," Raspberrypaw said. The feathers were plucked clean from the body, but she left the feathers on the wings.
Raspberrypaw looked up at Flamingstar in surprise and giggled, "You're not openly honest!" She exclaimed, thinking the leader was joking with her, but then why would she be joking with her when she was really mad? Raspberrypaw looked closer at Flamingstar and moved in towards her as she begun to tear off strips of the meat for her. She didn't want to be so helpful, but Flamingstar looked really lost and eating always helped. Flamingstar just needed a bit of encouragement to get some food in her system, "But you know, there's never too early of a time to start being nicer. Here open wide," She purred holding up a piece of meat between her claws up to Flamingstar's jaw playfully.
Bleakwind sighed as he padded away from where he'd left Skypaw in the medicine cat den.
Skypaw had run to him in a panic when she couldn't find Raspberrypaw. And though the tom wanted to reassure the blind apprentice all was fine, her distressed tone pulled at his heart strings. And since she had just lost both...cats whom she believed to be her parents. And learned she didn't get to know her birth mother at all. Bleakwind decided to humor her.
If Raspberrypaw had gone off to gather her thoughts, no harm done. If something had happened to her or she'd run off, well. Bleakwind had lost his brother Wildhunt for a time due to him wandering where he really shouldn't have. Bleakwind didn't want others to suffer that same mistake.
Fortunately it seemed he didn't need to look far. StarClan seemed to be smiling on him as he caught Raspberrypaw's scent in one of the caverns and he followed the trail to where she and Flamingstar were. With Raspberrypaw holding up some meat to Flamingstar, the ginger she cat looking rather sad.
"I hope I'm not interrupting something," Bleakwind meowed announcing his presence as he padded over. "Are you all right Flamingstar?"
(I dont know if you know but they are back in camp, Jet )
Flamingstar raised a brow at Raspberrypaw and the slightest smile formed on her face as her eyes softened. Before the leader could say anything to the apprentice or even take the meat from her, Bleakwind appeared. Flamingstar shot to her paws and leaped off her rock. Her face hardened again and the smile disappeared. The leader cleared her throat before speaking, "Bleakwind. Uh, I'm fine. Is there something I can do for you?"
Bleakwind cocked his head. "Skypaw came to me looking for Raspberrypaw. She was worried about her," He said, not wanting to call out the obvious lie Flamingstar was telling. "I had her go to the medicine cat den to sit with Blazepaw."
"Well, you can assure her that her sister is safe" Flamingstar told Bleakwind, giving Raspberrypaw a warning look as to not say anything about what happened that night to Bleakwind or even her sister.
"I think Skypaw and her brother would like to have Raspberrypaw assure them..." It was rather worrying that Blazepaw had yet to fully recover from his spell. He figured it best Raspberrypaw go reassure her siblings and give him a chance to speak with Flamingstar alone.
"Also I would like to discuss something I've noticed... but I think it best discussed..." He glanced pointedly towards Raspberrypaw before focusing on Flamingstar, "Between just the two of us," He said. "But if you and Raspberrypaw are still busy, I can go assure Skypaw, and then when you are finished Raspberrypaw can come to the medicine cat den to see her siblings, and we can talk?"
"Lets talk later, Bleakwind. Im not finished with Raspberrypaw." She looked sternly at Raspberrypaw, showing Bleakwind that Raspberrypaw was in trouble.
Bleakwind nodded. "Of course, I figured as much. I will go assure Skypaw that Raspberrypaw is all right, and then I will wait until your business has concluded." He said smoothly dipping his head before departing.
When Flamingstar turned back around Raspberrypaw was gone, it was like she faded out of existence right there. No scent trail, no paw steps, nothing. In reality Raspberrypaw was hiding behind the giant rock Flamingstar had seated herself on. She had already proved to Flamingstar that she wasn't afraid to run from her so she figured the smart thing to do would be to let her assume she was anywhere except in camp. She actually had no idea what her next move would be if Flamingstar ran off to look for her, she could say thanks to Turbulentseas or maybe say goodbye to her siblings, but Flamingstar would figure out fast where she was so maybe there wasn't anytime for that... Wait! How long had she been sitting behind this rock thinking, was Flamingstar gone yet? Raspberrypaw carefully listened to hear if maybe she was still around or gone.
Flamingstar watched Bleakwind pad away before turning and realizing the apprentice was gone. The ginger she-cat looked to see where Raspberrypaw had gone. She let out an irritated growl and took off toward the camp entrance in an attempt to catch the apprentice's scent.
Raspberrypaw slowly crawled out from behind the rock, her eyes moving back to the piece of prey, why had she looked so sad? She looked back to dirt place at the other side of camp, that was her way out. Her head swerved back to Flamingstar, if she stayed here she would be grounded in cap for probably a whole moon. Miss the next gathering, miss her warrior name ceremony, and then when she did get her warrior name Flamingstar would give it! But if she stayed she would still have her siblings and wouldn't be forced to change her sleep schedule and everything she'd ever known, which were also very compelling. All these thoughts led her outside of camp. Like, right outside of it behind dirt place thinking about her strategy and what she really wanted.
Fifteen minutes had gone by when Raspberrypaw came back inside camp, her head was lowered as she returned back to where Flamingstar had been sitting and sat down waiting for her. Okay, she wouldn't leave yet, not until she said goodbye to her siblings, once she went back to her nest she would tell Skypaw everything and things would be back on track, but right now she couldn't do that with everyone awake and listening.
Flamingstar returned back, anger blazing in her eyes. That was when she saw Raspberrypaw back where she had left her. Confusion replaced the anger but her voice was edgy, "where did you run off to? I went searching all over Nightclan territory looking for you!"
“I hid from you,” Raspberrypaw admitted with a guilty expression, “But then I thought before acting and knew I would be in bigger trouble if I didn’t shape up and try to be a loyal member of NightClan. I’m sorry for misbehaving I just needed time to think about how bad my actions have been.”
She didn’t like it, but she meant those words. She knew she was too nice and she knew even before running away that if she was caught there was little chance she’d try to disobey again. It was easy to shame her into behaving. She looked back at the bird meat she had neatly stripped off for Flamingstar and then back at her, “Why have you been looking so sad, is it because I tried to run away from home?”
Flamingstar was surprised that Raspberrypaw not only told her the truth but actually made the decision to come back. Instead of saying anything more, the leader turned her back and picked up her bird and settled back on her throne-like rock with the bird between her paws. Rapberrypaw's next question caught her off-guard. She hadn't expected anyone to read her expression. "I wasn't sad" she mewed bluntly, taking a bite out of her bird. "You must have misread. It's not polite to assume."
"Oh okay, I'm sorry..." Raspberrypaw said, maybe she was just seeing things that weren't there. She was sitting down beside Flamingstar, but wondered if it would be rude to lay down, there was nothing else to do while she was eating, but maybe she wanted her alert. Then again she said it wasn't polite to assume so she shouldn't assume that of her. With that Raspberrypaw lied down, she was hungry too, but she felt strangely worried about being rejected food and instead decided not to ask. Like if she wasn't told no than she wasn't being punished as much, plus it felt dishonest to eat when she was determined to leave, it would just make her feel guilty taking food from the freshkill pile.
