Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
(Cleaverlavellan) Amberpaw grinned, hurrying to his brother-in-law's side he called out, "hear that! We're going home. Seablossom's gonna be so surprised!" And so will he. Seablossom hadn't found out about the pregnancy until they'd made it to FallClan and had been there for about a week. So there was no way he knew about the kits! A good surprise after all that'd happened in the last year.
Back at camp, Seablossom could feel something happening. With no other queens in the nursery, or anyone around, she wasn't aware of what it was. Just believing it to be the kits acting up before they were even born she ignored the small pains she was feeling. Until they got worse. She knew then that it was time, but also realized that no one was here to help her and she had no idea what she was doing. Panic surged through the new mother. The pain intensified and quickly. Something seemed wrong and she had no idea what to do.
Seablossom was here, and she was alive. He felt a surge of relief and nearly collapsed right there. "Home," he echoed softly, golden eyes glowing. His voice was thick. He really had found them after all this time. "Well-- well, lead the way, I guess."
Amberpaw hurried them back towards camp, excited for the surprise that Crownglass and Seablossom were both in for. Seablososm for her mate having found her at last, and Crownglass for the kits he was about to be a father for. The grey tom was practically vibrating with excitement as they approach camp. Only a few more feet and they be home.
Meanwhile, in camp, Seablossom had some complications birthing her children. She lay dying, kits laying around her along with a lot of blood. The last kit had taken all of her strength to birth, especially since he'd become turned around. The life was slowly leaving her, her eyes open long enough to see that her three kists were at least alive. Her prayers went to StarClan, praying someone would come by soon and at least make sure her children would survive. Her life was lost, but she had others remaining still fro her time as EarthClan's leader.
He spent the walk back struggling to think of the right words to say. He had to prepare to present himself in front of the new clan, but that took too much mental effort for his strained body, and his thoughts were adrift. He was too tired to think about any of this, but one last time, he had to do it. Then there was the matter of his mate. What was he going to say to her? He loved her fiercely, but he couldn't overwhelm her, note hen he had no idea what she had gone through in his absence. He felt a stab of guilt for having left her, but it wasn't his choice...
But all his planning was for naught, because he hadn't expected to come upon her like this, he never could have imagined. As Crownglass entered the camp he saw her first, the scent of blood mingling with her scent, unmistakably the mate he had lost despite all this time, and now.... now it looked like he was losing her forever. The ebony tom stumbled to her side and broke down at her side, nuzzling her neck before feeling for her breath, his heart thudding when he didn't feel her stirring. He didn't come all this way to lose his mate, he couldn't, he wouldn't. He lifted his head and looked back at the medicine cats desperately, her blood dripping from his chin. "Help her, please, do something," he pleaded, wrapping around her in a vain attempt to warm her body and revive her.
Brookkit lay quietly beside his mother as the life slowly left her body, his breathing while light was enough to indicate he was holding onto life, the silence broke when Crownglass ran in and curled around Seablossom causing the new kit to cry out toward the new source of warmth.
Tatteredraven hearing the cry of the kit poked her head into the den, her breathe taken from her at the sight of Seablossom laying eerily still. "Someone come quick and help!" She called out loudly before entering the den and nudging each of the kits closer together, all the while her eye remaining on the queen. "Is she still breathing, Crownglass?"
The hairless tom would have immediately jumped into action, but he paused with Tatteredraven's entrance to roll his eyes. "I'm right here already, quiet down," Hystericplague said, then closed the distance between him and the dying queen. "Tatteredraven, you," he motioned to Crownglass, already forgetting the tom's name, "move the kits so I have room. Amberpaw, go get some juniper berries from our den. You do remember what they look like, right?" Probably not, but he didn't have time to teach right now. After pushing everyone away, he went to work on checking Seablossom's condition. "Yes, she's still alive, barely," he answered Tatteredraven's previous question, although it wasn't directed at him.
(Seablossom has leader lives still so she's lost one here. I'm trying to get rid of them ok lol)
Seablossom could feel the life coming back to her, but the strength of it was still weak from the blood loss. Without help, she'd lose another life. Voices were faint and hard to focus on, but she could feel a warm next to her that she'd recognize anywhere. Part of her thought it was a dream, a hallucination that Crownglass was there. Or..maybe this was the afterlife pulling her in towards her lover.
Amberpaw had stood frozen for a moment before he raced off to get one of the few herbs he knew. Juniper berries, blue little berries that tasted awful. Coming back with a mouthful of them he could only watch as his mentor got to work. Mind not fully processing that his sister was dying. His eyes darted over towards the kits that'd been moved to a different nest. They were crying, and so small. Alive, but small.
Crownglass whined low in his throat, but numbly he rose to his paws and left her body. He carried her kits out of the way without a second thought to them, unable to process right now where or who they had come from, and was quickly back at her side. "Save her, Amberpaw," he rasped.
Hystericplague's tail twitched in annoyance at Crownglass' words, but ignored it as he worked. If he hadn't just learned of Seablossom's past a few minutes ago, it would have shocked him as he watched the former leader's pulse die, just after he said that she was still alive, and then sputter back to life shortly after. At least his moons of being a leader's personal doctor had taught him something, otherwise it probably would have unnerved him to watch. He worked as quickly as he could, as he had no real idea of how many lives Seablossom even had. Mushing up the juniper berries, he forced the queen to swallow them. Hopefully they would get to work soon, and dull the pain while allowing her to regain strength.
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the kits squirming by themselves. "Someone needs to go help the kits," he said. They were still covered in blood, and probably needed body heat. "And will someone get me some raspberry leaves?" It was a herb that he had only briefly showed to Amberpaw, but didn't fully explain its usage of stopping bleeding during kitting.
(CleaverlavellanPhantomneverstarstarHoneystorm you are welcome to role play the kits here, but please make sure you get them added up to the joining thread if they haven't already been. )
Seablossom lay struggling to wake. Pain coursed through her, but slowly it was leaving. While she struggled to not lose another life, Amberpaw jumped to his paws and raced back to his den in order to collect the herbs requested by his mentor. He'd do anything to help his sister, and would follow his mentor's words to a T in order to do that. Hopefully, Crownglass would tend to the kits while he and Hysteriplague worked.
He had come all this way to find his mate, and she was dying. How could he care about anything else right now, how could he leave her side? He was choking on panic as he buried his muzzle deeper into his fur, realizing for the first time she might not have any lives left, and he could have been too late. Crownglass's breath shook as he hugged her close, fighting briefly against the medicine cat as he worked.
But then her breath was leaving her, and he knew he had lost. Numbly, he pushed him to his paws, felt Amberpaw pass him to get herbs. He felt a great emptiness inside of him, and it took all of his strength to turn away from her and limp back to the three tiny bodies. He collapsed beside them, his sick and grieving body unable to support him anymore, and curled up around them. Slowly, he began to clean their tiny pelts, his world restricting until it was just him and them and their tiny beating hearts.
Life was slow to return to her, but it did. That was her fifth life lost, only four remained. Two were lost during the flooding of the Survival Clans and another just now to birthing her kits. Her eyes opened slowly, the world a haze as life came back to her body. In the distance, she could hear her children crying...and a scent she hadn't scented in moons. Amberpaw spotted her eyes opening and called out, "she's awake!!"
She was awake! Crownglass stirred, lifting his head to look over at his mate, golden gaze watering. Sensation rushed back into his heart but he couldn't leave their little ones. "Seastar?" he called softly. "Seastar, are you here? It's--- it's me."
