[ Literally gonna drag this on as long as I can until she slips up since her eyes look fairly normal from a distance haha, also I love Polarkit xD ]
Northkit exhaled the breath she had been holding as soon as her mothers attention turned to Polarkit, he was such a mommies boy but couldn't help being grateful for it in that moment. She knew it would be hard to hide her blindness from Stormsurge but she had already come this far and considering it hadn't been noticed thus far had a feeling it wasn't completely obvious from the outside. The she-cat pressed comfortingly against Arctickit, her body trembling lightly.
Puffing out his chest to the point of nearly falling over, the small tom grinned a satisfying smirk. "I'm the second to last kit, Mama." Polarkit looked at his other siblings, smug that their mother had asked him over the rest of them. The tom wanted to be the favorite, to be her golden child. By birthright that went to the oldest, but clearly, Polarkit could win her over with his excellence. Or, at least that's what the kit believed.

"Good," Stormsurge nodded coolly, which was about as kind as she'd been to any of her kits thus far. "Right, remember this kits: the order is Arctickit," she said his name disdainfully, "Aurorakit, Northkit, Polarkit, and Tundrakit. This is important to know because it establishes the peaking order. I will rely on the oldest to keep the youngest in order, at least until I determine the leader among you." Her eyes flicked to Polarkit when she said that. "So, for now I will allow you some free time, take this opportunity to explore camp together. I will be watching."
Tundrakit wanted to be the leader. Of course he did. But it seemed Stormsurge had firmly put him in the 'loser' category with his brothers. Aurorakit was quiet but well-behaved thus far and Polarkit was a very sneaky and seemed intent to be their mother's favorite.
Northkit shook out her thick fluffy pelt as their mother released them to explore, finally an escape from her bombardment of questions. The she-cat curled her tail around Arctickits shoulders and turned, not willing to leave her brother alone with Stormsurge for even a moment, she would stay close to him and protect him from her anger as best she could. Her ears opened to the sounds around, Northkit took in the scents of the camp until she pinpointed the fresh kill pile and began to lead her deaf brother toward it. The blind leading the deaf, what a mess. the thought was sudden and it caused her to chuckle. "I'll protect you brother." It was a whisper and she knew he would not hear it but she hoped he could see and feel it in her presence.
The world was different for him. Unlike his siblings, he had very little means of communication. He couldn’t hear what they said to one another, and couldn’t speak. His sounds were squeaks and grunts, mumbles and sneezes. It didn’t make much sense to others, but it was all he truly knew.
The touch of his sister was comforting. He could feel that she was saying something, but of course didn’t understand it. The vibrations of it was enough to let him know she were only comforting him. Arctickit let her lead him. Something told him that she was not quite like the other cats around them too. Though he was unsure of what. Perhaps he’d piece it together soon.
He made an odd chirping noise, and walked along side her.
Polarkit puffed out his chest, "I'll keep everyone in line mother. I can make sure we don't wander too far." Though, he was just as curious as any kit to explore their home. The tom didn't want to displease his mother though, to give her any reason to believe that he could be anything less than perfect. Turning to his siblings, he flicked his tail at them. "Stay in line now. We can start with," looking around he spotted a nearby den but not sure who it belonged too, "that den over there."
Northkit let out a huff as Polarkit tried to take charge, Stormsurge had released them and she wasn't about to start following mamas boy around. "You have fun with that, Arctickit and I are going this way." She called to him over her shoulder as she continued following her nose toward the fresh kill pile.
“We’re suppose to stay together. What’s mama gonna day when she sees you’ve wandered off?” Polarkit didn’t know if they had to stay together or not, but he wanted to be in charge. What better way then to make his siblings think they’ll get in trouble if they left him. Besides, he didn’t wanna be left behind.

Stormsurge watched as her children started sorting themselves out, especially watching the way Polarkit behaved towards Northkit and Arctickit. Arctickit was a disappointment and she was sure Northkit was hiding something from her, but she really wanted to see how Polarkit acted towards them. Tundrakit was too soft on them, Aurorakit seemed disinterested, so if any of her kits was going to take charge, it was Polarkit.
Tundrakit followed behind Northkit and Arctickit, feeling out of place. He didn't belong with them, they seemed bonded over their challenges, and he certainly wasn't going to be deputy to Polarkit, so where did that leave him? He felt alone among his siblings.
Northkit stopped for a moment and turned her head in Polarkit direction. "If it means so much to you then we will be over here, if not then go somewhere else. You aren't our boss." She turned her head forward and began to walk again, only stopping again once they reached the pile, its scent stronger than ever as the fluffy she-cat sat down beside it. "Who does he think he is, trying to take charge like that. He is such a mamas boy." Her words were whispered, she knew Arctickit would not hear, but Tundrakit if close enough would have been able to make them out.
Arctickit walked alongside Northkit until she stopped. He looked at her expectantly, awaiting for what she would do next. He watched her carefully, as if waiting for ques. Perhaps the two might just be the best guiding pair. The blind leading the deaf. Wasn’t that nice?

Tundrakit heard the angry whisper of his sister and felt himself nod without thinking. Usually the small cat tried not to take sides, but he was quickly seeing that Polarkit was not worth his loyalty. Northkit and Arctickit however, definitely seemed to be. Stormsurge cared nothing for his blind and deaf siblings, but Tundrakit had been born with a kind heart and had been unable to adopt the coldness she expected of him towards them. Well, towards Arctickit, his mother still had no idea about Northkit.
So he tried getting closer to them without crowding, trying to be a shadow they allowed with them.
