Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Flamingsoul, recently made deputy, walked confidently over to the apprentice's den. She was assigned two apprentices. Even though she had been here about a moon, she was still getting used to the way Nightclan worked. In both the league and Moonclan, a hunter would be assigned only one trainee unless said otherwise. It was unusual to her but she had a few ideas on how she would train both at the same time. She supposed it would be better that way. They could battle each other and make it easier for her to view them from afar.
When she reached the apprentices den, she poked her head into the den and called to her apprentices. "Fierypaw, Devinepaw. Get up. It's time to begin your training." She retreated and headed for the pond that made up the heart of the cenote. She settled at the water's edge and waited for her apprentices to join her. She stared down at her reflection and touched the scar across her muzzle, memories of being Primal Instinct's prisoner flashed before her eyes. She blinked her eyes to clear it and straightened up, clearing her throat.

THE CURIOUS - NIGHTCLAN APPRENTICE
THe young white tom was on her heels as soon as she entered into the apprentice's den. He had been awake the whole time just awaiting his mentor to make an apperance "What are we gonna do today boss?" he chirped cheerfully. She wasn't his first mentor and he felt like she probably wouldn't be the last. This might have bothered most cats, but the young cat tried to attack everything with unbridled enthusiasm
She let out an annoyed sigh before replying, "I will tell you when your clanmate gets out of her nest." Devinepaw was a little too enthusiastic for her liking but at least he wasn't so miserable that he became a nuisance.
Fierypaw yawned loudly as she picked herself up from her nest. She quickly smoothed down some of her fur that was sticking up before trotting out of the den to join Divinepaw and Flamingsoul. Her mentor was the new intimidating Clan Deputy. Though Fierypaw wasn't impressed a frown on her face as she joined them. While she was excited to begin her training and work with Divinepaw, she put on an expression of passivity. She didn't know how she felt about Flamingsoul... Aside from that she was in a position she didn't deserve. Though she understood why Soaringstar needed to be leader, she didn't understand why she chose the cat to follow after her should something befall her. Rather than go to SunClan and seek her mother's council on the matter.
In her eyes Flamingsoul being named deputy was wrong, if it hadn't been done by the urging of her mother, and the longer she thought on it, the more she came to develop a mixed opinion of Flamingsoul. She would have to see how she handled mentoring her and Divinepaw.
"Good evening," She said nodding to them, focusing longer on Divinepaw. "I'm excited to see what you've learned, I won't be behind for long." She said proudly lifting her chin.
"Good evening, Fireypaw" Flamingsoul greeted though her voice was bitter. "Since Devinepaw has already seen the territory, we wont bother with that today. I will take you out some other time, Fireypaw. Right now, I want to work on your swimming. Before you say anything, it's important for you to know how to battle in water. It's not usual for Nightclan cats to swim but what if one day you find yourself in the water? If you have no training, you will drown. So, I want to see you both in the water, now. Let me see how strong your swimming is."
Fierypaw curled her lip at the connotation that she'd be helpless in water. She'd seen plenty of cats swimming in the pool beside the cenote. How hard could it be?
"I'm not afraid of the water." She said and with that she jumped into the water. Not even bothering to wade in.
Instantly the ice cold of the water made her gasp, as her head went under the water. Immediately she started flailing coughing and struggling to get her head out of the water. After a few panicky moments she managed to get her paws under her, and shove her muzzle out of the water.
She coughed and spluttered, shivering in the water fighting to clear her lungs. "Mouse dung! Why didn't you say it was so cold?!" She hissed ears pressing back as she looked at Flamingsoul water dripping into her eyes making her have to blink rapidly.
Flamingsoul closed her eyes and let out a deep breath, steadying herself. "You should have tested the water first. You didnt need to rely on me to tell you the temperature of the water. Leafbare is upon us. Even a kit would know that the water is cold."
Fierypaw glared. "You're the one who told us to get in," She said tartly. "If it was cold you shouldn't have told us to get in." She got out and shook herself pointedly trying to get Flamingsoul wet. She wanted a new mentor. Maybe she could go to Aunt Soaringstar and ask.
"I'm far older than you. I know things" Flamingsoul mewed, bluntly, her annoyance getting to her. Fierypaw needed to learn her place. "I am the deputy. If I say get in the water, you get your butt in the water!"

Divinepaw couldn't help but smirk as the she-cat shivered in the water. Even though he knew he would soon be joining her, he didn't really mind it all the much. "Gotcha boss" with a grin he took a few steps backwards, before taking a running jump into the water instead of slowly lowering himself into it. He had been swimming plenty of times before, and sometimes it was better to just go ahead and get wet all over instead of prolonging the inevitable. As hit the water, a spray went up all around him landing on both his new partner and mentor as he disappered under the surface. A few moments later he came back to the surface with a goofy grin "Your right it is cold, so its best if you go ahead and get dunked. Then your body doesn't get shock over and over again"
Flamingsoul braced herself as icy water splashed her and soaked her flaming red fur. She narrowed her turquoise eyes and gave an annoyed look at Devinepaw but in a way, she kind of admired him. She allowed a smirk to pull on her lips as she admired the young tom for his enthusiasm despite the freezing water. She gave herself a shake, drops of water flinging from her pelt. "Not bad, Devinepaw. Let me see you swim around."

Pleased with the praise, he couldn't help but laugh "All I did was jump in" he swam around in a circle, feeling rather comfortable in the water. Exploring sometimes meant that you had to dive on in to the water to find out what was on the other side. "Its not really all that impressive"
Huffing Fierypaw jumped back into the water, making sure to aim as closely to Flamingsoul as possible.
She surfaced spitting out water and shaking her head to get some of the water out of her ears. She huffed at his comment of 'it not being that impressive' as he swam around in a circle.
Well, congrats for being older and seeing more of the world!
But she'd rather side with Divinepaw rather than Flamingsoul.
"You're right Divinepaw!" Fierypaw said. "After getting wet that first time, it's not as bad now." She shot Flamingsoul a look. "Jumping right on in and staying in is the smart choice." She said before nodding to Divinepaw. Then she started imitating Divinepaw's movements trying to get used to swimming. It was a little slow going and she paddled a little more furiously than was probably best for saving her energy.

Divinepaw yawned as he treaded water, after his new training partner jumped in after him. aT Least this one wasn't afraid to stand up for herself, as it drew a chuckle from him. He swam forward exaggerating his movements for her slightly when he felt her eyes watching him to make easier on her. He closed his eyes remembering when he first learned how to swim... How his father had just thrown him in, and it was either swim or sink. Even after all this time he couldn't help but wonder if his father owuld have saved him if he hadn't made it back to shore....
(Aww Divinepaw's bit about his dad is making me want to make a thread with his siblings and Stealthclaw and them just chilling XP)
Fierypaw copied Divinepaw's movements, fortunately he'd slowed down a bit. Perhaps he'd noticed her looking?
After she got the basics down she lifted her chin and began to swim as she'd seen him. Taking care to try and cast subtle glances at him rather than just watching him openly.

The young tom looked back at their mentor "I think its pretty clear that we got this boss lady" he winked playfully at Fierypaw now that she was getting the hang of it "Watcha got next for us? Plllllleeeeeeaassseee make it something fun" he kept him limbs moving lazily under the water
Flamingsoul padded into the water, herself. "Well done, my apprentices but there is more. Training is rarely ever fun." Flamingsoul answered the enthusiastic apprentice. Thank Starclan Divinepaw already knew how to swim and was able to teach Fierypaw. That was one less thing Flamingsoul had to teach the ungrateful wench. "Now, you must learn to battle in water. Divinepaw, will you be my assistant?" Divinepaw seemed to be more well suited. He made it easier to train and he learned fast. Perhaps using him in all her demonstrations would help Fierypaw.
Fierypaw huffed as Flamingsoul picked Divinepaw to demonstrate. Already their mentor was picking favorites, but she hadn't expected any less from the deputy. She held her tongue this time, simply letting her ear twitch in irritation.
