Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. The older toms voice seemed quiet to the shaking kit, but the words did not go unheard. He lifted his head and looked at Toadstream, giving the warrior a sheepish nod and standing, he wanted to be brave like him. "O-okay." He mewed, still shaking. Mousekit bunched up his legs and pushed himself off the ground, as his front paws hit the dirt on the other side his back legs landed in the water causing him to let out a frightened yowl.
Toadstream grabbed the kit by the scruff and lifted him in the air before gently setting him down back on the ground. "That was so great, Mousekit! I'm proud of you! You were so brave!" He purred, licking the kit's back end dry.

"I d-din't make i-it all th-the way." He mumbled, his body shaking roughly as Toadstream dried his now wet fur. He felt more scared than brave though, he didn't think he could do that again any time soon.
"But you still made the leap! That was courage! Well done!" He finished licking the kit and gestured for Mousekit to follow him once more. "Besides, that was a pretty great fail! And dont take that the wrong way! Failure leaves room for improvement. Nothing is ever learned from success."

A small smile appeared on Mousekits face at Toadstreams encouraging words, maybe the warrior wasn't so bad, though he still wasn't completely comfortable he felt more relaxed than when they started their journey. "I-im good at f-failing, m-must be all it-the practice I've g-go-gotten." Strangley enough there was a joking tone in the timid kits voice, something many ever got the chance to witness.
Toadstream let out a laugh. Mousekit was fun to hang out with. They arrived at the flower meadow. It stretched out before them, the clearing looked like a rainbow with all the different colored flowers. "Hey, Mousekit. Watch this!" The tortoiseshell reared up and came down hard on the ground with his paws and just as he landed, a bunch of grasshoppers leaped into the air.

Mousekit tilted his head, his eyes following Toadstream curiously when a frenzy of grasshoppers leaped into the air around them. "Wow!" The kit giggled, turning on his paws to watch them all as they vanished once more into the flowers and grass. "H-how did you d-do that?" He chirped, trying to mimic the warriors action to no avail.
"You got to hit the ground really hard to create a vibration in the ground!" He explained with hope that he may be getting the kit to warm up to him. "Like this!" He moved to a different spot and did it once more and grass hoppers leaped into the air again. One landed on Toadstream's nose for a moment and bounced off.

He watched the tom do it again and nodded, he couldn't help thinking g that it wouldnt work because he was so small but he tried again anyway. As he lifted his fore legs into the air, he used his hind legs to push off the ground so that all four paws were in the air and hit the earth at the same time, seconds after he was standing again a flurry of hopping bugs propelled into the air. There weren't many but the kits eyes still fluttered with joy.
"I-I did it! L-look!" He called out happily as he bounced up and down looking at Toadstream.
Toadstream let out a laugh. "You did! You did a lot today! I'm very proud of you! Now you have stories you can tell your mama!" He ruffled the kit's head fur with his paw.

Mousekit stiffened a little when Toadstreams paw rubbed the top of his head, but he quickly relaxed knowing that he could trust this warrior as Loststar did. "I-I wonder w-what ma-mama's doing..." he had never been so far away from her for so long, did she miss him?
"Im sure she is fine" the young warrior assured him with a warm smile. Then his face turned a little more serious, "Mousekit, I came here to talk to you about something."

Suddenly his fear returned, why was the warrior so serious now, did he do something wrong? "W-whats w-wrong?" His paws shuffled on the ground as he nervously awaited Toadstreams next words.
The tom wrapped his tail around the kit and drew him closer. "Nothing is wrong, Mousekit. I just want to ask you a question. What do you think about having a cat that you can call a father?"

A father? He had never considered it, he was happy with having Loststar, they had a happy life and she loved him as he loved her. If he were to gain a father, that would mean Loststar liked someone, would he have to share the time he spent with her? Would she choose to spend her time with this cat over him? The kit shook his head, not liking the direction his thoughts were going in. "I-i don't kn-know, w-what if m-mama loves -him more th-than me?" His mind so full of worry, hadn't even thought that the father Toadstream was asking about would be himself.
"Hey, now. Loststar would never love one more than the other! You are her whole world! It would only mean that you would have one more cat to love and guide you." He explained. "Mousekit, I would love to be your father. If you will have me."

"Y-you? You w-wanna be m-my father?" Mousekit looked up at Toadstream with deep blue eyes, mulling over everything the tom had said. "Does t-that mean you l-love mama, l-like me?" He wanted Loststar to be happy, though he knew it would take him a little while to grow used to the new addition, perhaps because it was Toadstream then it wouldnt be so bad.
"Yes. I love her very much. But I dont want you to be unhappy which is why I'm asking you if I can be apart if your family." He responded, getting down to the kit's level.
