Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
here was a bright glow emitting from the small white she-cat as she lounged under the rays of the blaring sun. Though Leaf Fall had just begun, the days were still bright and hot, though a good breeze here and there made the hot days bearable. After a hefty and successful hunting patrol, Yarrowsong decided to bathe in the sun, a reward for her good day's work despite there being still so much to do. With the clan up in chatters about new clan mates, there was a much more exciting and active vibe through camp.
Yarrowsong released a long and content filled sigh as she laid peacefully on a warm smooth stone, her eyes shut peacefully and a long wide smile stamped across her expression. Today was going to be a great day, that she was confident of!
OOC Notes: WOOT WOOT! I had to start this up sooner than anticipated. Sorry not sorry.
(no worries! we can start the new thread with thistle and bee too!)
Bee had been living in Springclan for several days now, and had spent time with several other cats, though she’d met too many in the last few days to remember all their names. Blackstar has been hesitant, but thankfully had been persuaded thanks to Thistlemask, and her opinion of Bee had been bolstered by her hunting prowess. Bee wasn’t a bad fighter, but she excelled in hunting, and she had been determined not to be a burden.
With her days spent raking in prey, she had had a hard time making friends. The ginger she-cat had allowed herself this afternoon off, mostly because her exertion was catching up to her. She had been dozing a few feet from where Yarrowsong had laid down, and she now raised her head. “Hey,” she mumbled, mostly out of courtesy, before putting her head back down.
he sudden and unexpected voice cause the white she-cat to jump onto her stomach, her lids wide open revealing a pair of bright and very surprised pair of mismatched colored eyes. Having been lost in the peace of the moment, Yarrowsong had almost forgotten she was in a camp full of cats.
"Oh!" Yarrowsong quipped, her eyes widening at the sight of the ginger she-cat that laid just a few tail lengths from her. A large smile grew immediately on the young she-cat's face " You are the new cat! Bee right?" She meowed happily, sitting up quickly as her body hummed with a natural shock of spontaneous energy. Of course Yarrowsong didn't need confirmation from the she-cat of her identity. She knew very much who the she-cat was. Everyone did, even down to the newest born kits.
Bee, who had fully expected to close her eyes and doze back off, was startled back into the conversation by Yarrowsong’s question. The probationary Springclan member raised her head again, taken off guard. “Ah, yep, I’m Bee. Bee is me, ha ha.” Bee laughed weakly at her own attempt at humor.
“I don’t think we’ve met yet. What’s your name?” Bee asked in return, pushing herself up more slowly than Yarrowsong had.
arrowsong offered a wider smile, her white tail sway cheerfully behind her as she giggled at Bee's joke. "I am Yarrowsong!" She spoke up proudly, puffing out her small chest in attempt to look a bit larger. "I heard you used to live in a loner pack." She gushed with no hesitation, scooting herself off the rock without rising, inching closer to Bee while still giving her that comfortable distance of space. "What was that like? Was it wild and ruleless?" Her dam of curiousity broke immediately as Yarrowsong sought her opportunity to act "When I was a kit, I heard from one of the old story tellers-" she paused and looked up to the sky with a quick somber change of emotions and murmured "Rest in peace Redwind." before looking back down at Bee, her emotions shifting back in a blink of an eye to the overwhelming state of excitment she was in prior "-that some loner groups have a ritual where if they find stray kittens that carry a clan scent, they snatch them and gobble them up for dinner." Yarrowsong shuddered at the old memory "I am almost scared to ask if its true."
OOC Notes: Bruh this response made me choke on air and my co worker passed by and asked if I was okay XD
(lol xD) Bee blinked hard, wondering if she’d actually fallen asleep and this was all a fever dream. When she didn’t awake she decided she might as well proceed under the assumption that she was awake and this other cat, Yarrowsong, was a real cat.
“I mean it was kind of laid back, but there weren’t really a lot of rules. Cats came and went, except for a few of us. And our group didn’t steal clan kits or eat other cats,” she wrinkled her nose, thinking of the fact that she was some form of a stolen kitten. “It wasn’t anything crazy, we weren’t a bad group of cats.”
Oh... really?" Yarrowsong quipped, confusion and internal conflict was clear as day on the she-cat's expression as she battled the contradiction with her kithood story. "Well, Redwind was pretty old. I'm sure he might have mixed up some details." She meowed cheerfully, ending all her confusion with a swift and optimistic excuse for the Story Teller.
"Well I am just glad that is not true!" She admitted with visible relief. "Now I just gotta break the new to the kits that the stories weren't true." Yarrowsong mentally noted the mask, organizing it in the back of her mind before continuing "Compared to loner life, Clan life is waaay different!" She gushed, pausing as she quietly took in her surroundings before leaning over slowly to Bee "Honestly, I think if we had less rules, clan life would be so much more fun- but don't let The Trusted or the leaders hear you!" She whispered, quickly and urgent added the last warning "They'll assign you more patrols if they hear you complain." She murmured, her mind wandering off to past consequence given patrols she had.
"Bee. Bee suits you." Yarrowsong leaned back up, her voice rising back up to it's original volume. "Are you eventually going to take a warrior name?"
OOC Notes: Haha I can't! I really love them already!
(theyre super funny together cx) Bee had to take another second to process the rapid steam of information. Then she took another moment to formulate her answer. “I think clan life is a step up, honestly. The lack of rules made things confusing. Sometimes there was a lot to eat, sometimes there wasn’t anything because no one bothered to hunt. Everyone tried to use seniority or skill to claim a superior position over each other.”
And what about her warrior name? She had been thinking about that for a while. “Yes, I was thinking of Beedust. I want to keep my loner name incorporated somewhere. Is that stupid?” She asked, a little insecure due to the fact she had no experience in warrior names. Was Beedust even a good name? There didn’t seem to be many rules about what someone could be named.
arrowsong listened pensively, her mind clouded as she recreated only what she could imagine was the life Bee described. "That sounds awfully frustrating." She huffed, her brows furrowed slightly "Almost makes me not want to complain about my life." She murmured, thinking about her declaration again a moment after she spoke it. Almost.
Yarrowsong perked up at the sound of Bee's choice of name "Oh Bee! That's a lovely idea for a warrior name!" She gushed, rising fully to her paws in a new wave of excitement. "You are so creative!" She pressed on, her mind reeling "Your kits are going to have such lovely names." Yarrowsong gasped , her tail twitched into a frozen state of shock "Oh wow, that was so inconsiderate of me to say!" She added quickly "I don't even know if you want kits of your own. Do you?" She asked inquizitively "If not, you have to name my future kits. Its official, you have to promise. Promise?!" There was a sense of urgency with the she-cats words.
“Oh! Um, yes, I think I would want my own some day. If I ever find someone,” Bee knew she was being a little jaded over her betrayal, but she was young and she would, eventually, believe someone was meant for her. Yarrowsong’s rapid stream of consciousness was starting to give her a headache though- or maybe it was the fact that she saw Thistlemask across camp, speaking with one of the Trusted.
“I guess I could still help you name any kits you have or adopt though, if you still want me to then. Or if you still think my naming skills are good.” Bee told her after dragging her gaze back to Yarrowsong. “Did you want to go for a walk? I need to get out of camp for a bit.”
arrowsong sighed with relief, knowing she did not offend the she-cat. She was great at making friends but worse at creating them out of enemies. She watched as Bee's golden gaze trailed off somewhere behind Yarrowsong, causing the pure she-cat to turn back with curiousity, follow the trail to see Thistlemask's serious expression, pensively listening as the fellow Trusted rambled on, the conversation muffled due to the distance.
Yarrowsong turned back to Bee, a confused expression written brightly on her expressive face, but it melted away the moment Bee declared her future aid. "Oh! Yea sure!" Yarrowberry's tail whisked around in content, already on her four paws and ready to go. As she watched Bee rise, her mind wandered back to what she saw just moments prior. "I heard you came to camp on your first day with Thistlemask." She added cheerfully "He is a boring tom isn't he? So serious all the time, I mean he is nice and nice to look at, but I get bored too long around him." She glanced back at him, wrinkling her nose at the sight of him. "I'm surprise he didn't scare you away the moment you saw him. He is one of those cats who is a stickler for rules." She continued, seemingly without taking a breath "I mean I guess that is how you should expect a Deputy to act, but I mean still. You can still be a Deputy and be fun you know?"
OOC Notes: Ooooh I just thought of an idea. Maybe in passing, this is when Bee asks Thistle if they can spend some time, like what was mentioned in their thread we are writing right now?!
(ooh i like it, connect the story lines hehe) “I think he’s nice,” Bee defended a Thistlemask weakly after they started walking- she didn’t want to come off like she was interested in him or anything ludicrous like that. “He was really kind after he let me off the ground.” The word took a moment to click, and Bee tilted her head. The question was on the tip of her lips, but then they approached Thistlemask and another question took its place.
“One sec,” Bee told Yarrowsong as she stepped away. “Hey, Thistlemask,” she interrupted the conversation with an apologetic expression. “Can we talk soon? I know you said I could ask you any questions I had...” She would ask Yarrowsong what a deputy was after she got the tom’s answer, she decided.
arrowsong's ears flickered in surprise, her dual colored eyes blinked a few times "Off the ground?" she repeated, her mind veering off to an imaginary standoff. Bee's sudden and unexpected departure snapped Yarrowsong from her daydream, churning more confusion in the she-cat as she watched her new friend walk away towards Thistlemask.
We can double the group to patrol the northern border for a short time." Thistlemask's voice was stern as his pensive green eyes took in his fellow clan mate's "I know it would be a lot ask our warriors to take on more shifts, but if there is a risk of running into another badger, I don't want our cats to be short-handed-" Before Thistlemask could continue, his thought was interupted by a familiar voice. He turned quickly, his serious mask softening the second he realized who it was "Bee." He spoke up, pleasant surprise leaking from his voice.
"Of course." He responded, probably a bit more quicker than he should have. His mind wandered to the next few days, thinking deeply for a moment on the upcoming time he had "How about two days from now. We can patrol the borders, bright and early. We can talk then." He stared at Bee, hoping to find some satisfaction in her expression with his lame answer.
OOC Notes: Ohohoho. Conni coming in with dual-character responses *puts a pair of shades on*
“That works!” She told him, her expression brightening considerably. “I’ll see you then! Sorry again,” she apologized to the other cat, and Thistlemask one last time before backing away, giving Thistlemask one more smile before rejoining Yarrowsong.
“Sorry about that; we have catching up to do. Can you tell me what a deputy is?” She asked, unused to the term on her tongue. Thistlemask seemed to hold some amount of power, if his conversation with the other cat was any indication.
arrowsong watched as her ginger companion made her way back to her, a new sunny desposition replacing her previous serious one. The new transformation churned curiousity in the white she-cat as her gaze bounced from Bee, to Thistlemask whose own serious gaze had visibly changed and softened, his sharp eyes following Bee for some long moments as she walked away before he slowly turned back to the fellow Trusted, his expression sharpening back to it original intimidating stony expression as he pressed on with his clan mates on whatever they had been discussing prior.
The sudden question snapped Yarrowsong out of her deep and rather serious observations, bringing her signature smile back to her face as she looked at Bee, "Oh? You don't know?" She asked excitingly "Well a Deputy is only second to the Leader." She said somewhat proudly as she began to educate Bee "A deputy works hand in hand with the Leader. He or she is in charge of organizing the patrols. If the leader gets sick, steps down or worse dies, the Deputy becomes the Leader!" She finished proudly, having enjoyed the opportunity to be a teacher for a minute before it all melted down to a somewhat sly smile "I am surprised Thistlemask didn't tell you."
"Oh," Bee blinked, caught off guard by the fact that Thistlemask held that much power in the clan. For a moment her mind flashed back to Jay and his lackey, Steel, and worry welled up in her chest. Power was a fragile thing, and it had been used to kill her parents. It had been used to lie to her about who she was. Was Thistlemask like that? Her bitter side wanted to condemn him immediately, but her softer side reminded her of how kindly he had treated her. Confused, she decided to think about all that at a later time.
"I didn't even know he was the Deputy, let alone what it meant," she admitted, flicking an ear back. "He probably didn't want to worry me, which was nice of him really. You're a warrior, right? And I am too? That's a baseline position?" Bee wanted to shift the discussion off Thistlemask, because it admittedly made her heart flutter.
arrowsong nodding happily "Yup! We are Warriors!" She chirped proudly "We are the back bone of this clan! We contribute every way possible to help the clan grow!" She glanced back at the camp as the two made their way forward out of the camp entrance "We also have the Trusted, an elite squad of Warriors who are the best of the best." She went on, enjoying to teaching position she took on "They are hand picked by the Leader. They work along the Leader and Deputy during times of trouble, Their perspective's and wisdom is taking into high consideration when changes are to be made for the clan"
"Then we have medicine cats! They are in charge of healing the sick and wounded cats. They are so smart! They use leaves and seeds and flowers to create remedies, Its almost like magic, I don't understand how they do it!" She spoke in awe before moving on to the next point "Then we have Apprentices who are trained by the Warriors the ways of the clan, rules, how to defend, fight and hunt!"
"Then the queens who birth and nurse the kits, the kits of course and then our Story Tellers; retired warriors who live out their days at our camp." She paused and visibly thought hard on her words " They like to tell stories of their past to the kits and apprentices who also have a responsiblity to clean their den from time to time, but apparently they aren't always accurate or true stories." There was a slight bitterness as Yarrowsong was reminded of the false narrative of loners that Redwind gave her before shoving the thought aside and giving Bee a large smile.
"That's the general gist of it all!" She exclaimed " I am really surprised Thistlemask didn't tell you any of this, you two seem so close." She added, her dual colored eyes bright with mischief as she waited, watching the ginger she-cat's reaction to her comment.
Neat." Yarrowsong repeated, a wide smile slowly growing across her white face, her tail curling in growing anticipation "Sure I guess he is neat, but cats don't even go up to him unless they need to report to him- well except the she-cats." Yarrowsong paused, visibly taking a moment to look lost in thought before continuing "He does attract a lot of attention from a lot of the she-cats at camp from time to time." She pointed out nonchalantly, looking around the green foliage as the two walked, all while casually sneaking glances at Bee for her reactions.
"Then they're silly for fawning over him simply because he's handsome," Bee responded with a roll of her eyes before realizing exactly what had escaped her mouth. "I-I, you know, he's conventionally attractive. Objectively speaking." She tried to qualify her response, setting her chin in a stubborn, borderline childish motion. Bee did find him attractive, in all honesty, but admitting that made it sound like she liked him or something.
Bee tried her best to shake off Yarrowsong's comments, trying to remain unbothered by the fact that other she-cats had an interest in Thistlemask. If he liked one of them, then it didn't bother her one bit, she told herself firmly.
