The Sun God had rather been avoiding SunClan. For the past half moon, not one cat had seen him. The territory had felt empty, lonely, abandoned by the god. Of course, it was no coincidence that he had disappeared the moment Foxstar had returned to the clan... Some speculated that meant Foxstar was no longer the rightful leader, but both the High Priestess and Promised Littlebird contested that fact.
And on the dawn that marked the half moon of his disappearance, he returned. The deity's light could be seen flickering in the light of the early morning, his warmth spilling over and bringing a comforting warmth to the clan that had been missing in this time. It was also the day Foxstar's litter would open their eyes. When Foxstar woke that morning and gave prayer, power seemed to flow and thrum back into the earth, and cats no longer doubted her status. Or if they did, they realized there was little they could do any longer.
The deity himself, however, kept to himself, away from camp for the day as clouds gathered and thunder crashed, rain threatening to spill over and drench the place. He sort of hoped no one found him today...

LITTLEBIRD
SUNCLAN PRIESTESS PROMISED
Enough was enough. For the past moon, no one in the clan had been able to rest, especially Littlebird. She was juggling to many things, a new litter of kits, Foxstar's insanity, Leatherstar becoming leader once more, Lionpaw and Fernpaw questioning everything, Skipstep's anxiety, and the entire clan being fearful of what was going to happen next.
Littlebird had done everything the Sun God had asked of her. She had shown faith in his decision, went to war, and even used tactics she would have rather avoided in order to get back the High Priestess. Keeping one of the regime cat's and threatening them with torture should they not allow her and Foxstar to leave had been underhanded, but necessary. She had done all of this, merely to satisfy the deity's wishes, trusting that he had a plan.
Yet upon their return, he disappeared. Leaving her to deal with this whole mess he and Foxstar had created. The clan was scared. Half were ready to bolt, afraid Foxstar would order them to do something insane. The other half were gearing up for a civil war, ready to dethrone Foxstar and put Littlebird in her place.
Upon his reappearance, she was the first to seek out the Sun God braving the storm that loomed over head with little fear, for the storm within her own sould was far more frightening. She found the sun god, far away from their camp, to far to hear the cries of the clan that had been in constant prayer for him to act. A frustrated growl rumbled in her throat as she approached, he normal politeness melting away to reveal the utter rage and frustration underneath "fix her" two words, but it was enough to convey her intent in coming all the way out here.
"I have followed your every command, and brought back the priestess... or what remains of her. SunClan is living in constant fear under her shadow, and yet you have left us to that darkness. If something isn't done, there will be nothing left of your followers" her eyes narrowed, the same look she gave her children when they were misbehaving "If something isn't done I will end this myself, I would rather see her dead than to have the clan live like this any longer" she wasn't joking, knowing full well that any act against Foxstar would be considered treason and her own life would be forfeit "If I die, then so be it. You can find another Priestess to guide your flock of sheep, but I will not stand at the side line watching the clan fall any farther"

"Ah.. uh, uhm.. hmm." The deity pawed at his ear, his expression a look that could only be considered trying to figure out how to get out of this as fast as possible and hide from the tiny scary lady. "Well, uh, just, y'know, make her sane again? Problem solved." As if he wasn't the one who could actually, feasibly do that. "I'm sure she'll be just fine."
To be quite honest, he heard a lot of her ramblings from down below in the tunnels, and had rather hoped Littlebird would get her out before it had gotten to this point. SO it was really all her fault, right? That's how this worked? Something told him she might just go looking for a way to kill a deity if he suggested that option. Or worse, defect to MoonClan. That would be a bad look.

She had never seen the sun god act like this before, squirming under her gaze like a frightened child. It reminded her of Lionpaw, her sweet baby boy who couldn't hide a secret to save his life. She felt her claws emerging and digging into the soft earth below her feet "If it was that simple why haven't you done so already?" she scoffed, resisting the urge to lift her paw and cuff his ear they way she did her son when he was acting naive
"Sure maybe one day her mind will return, and perhaps not. However in the mean time you have left the entire clan defenseless, forced to follow her every delusional command. All she speaks of is fire and blood. What ever chaos she causes is on you. You are the one who ordered her to be brought back, and you are the only one who can overturn a direct order from the priestess. Do something. Fix her, take away her power, something. Stop hiding out here like a coward, instead of protecting the very cats that are serve you day in and day out."

Who did a deity pray to when they were the god? Praying to himself seemed both a touch arrogant for the situation, and more than a little ineffectual. "Well, uh. Kinda can't do that. Technically, I've already forgiven her for the things that are relevant, and everything else is just hurt feelings and not quite 'I hate you levels'. Probably should have planned better, but y'know, didn't actually think she'd go loopy. You're kinda just going to have to figure it out yourself. Minds are tricky things, and messing with them never goes well. You ever hear of the cats that came after the ancients, but before SunClan? No? Exactly."
Not the right answer, but he was sorta in a bind. Technically, he could break things now, but that felt like it would make him looks worse, turning on his first Priestess in her time of need. At the same time, he didn't really want to make her worse... and besides, Foxstar had hurt his feelings. He was sure they could figure something out. Probably. Hopefully.... He wasn't that optimistic, honestly.
"Treat it like a team building exercise. You have those Pride cats. I'm sure if anyone can fix her, it's them." And if not, Pandora would just destroy everything anyway, and he could pretend it all never happened.

LITTLEBIRD
SUNCLAN PRIESTESS PROMISED
"So your going to take no responsibility for this, and leave a mortal to solve the problems created by a deity" she rolled her eyes turning her back on him, only pausing after taking a few steps "You know you have the power to raze clans to the ground, set the forest aflame, and to kill all those that appose you with a mere look.... Everyone in SunClan looks up to you, and your only answer is that you can do nothing to figure out what the Sun God can not"
She shook her head, not even looking back at where the Sun God sat "Since when did you allow the followers to become more powerful than the god?" with that she was done. She wouldn't get any help here, not as long as the Sun God continued to hide and mope in the shadows instead of being their guiding light. If he wouldn't do something about this, she would. Even if it meant destroying herself in the process.

The deity looked genuinely hurt by the comment from Littlebird, lightning flashing across the gray sky and illuminating a rather sad face. "Well. That was uncalled for." He quipped, turning away from her to hide his face. But for a heartbeat, the Promised could glimpse that he truly did look about to cry. "I don't think you have any clue the difficulty of what you're asking. That Priestess has more to sort through than just her confinement. She has a lifetime of shattered body and mind to heal, and that isn't simply something you can wave away. There are things I can heal, but when you throw deep seated hatred and bad blood into the mix, it's a patchwork mess of 'maybe this will work's and 'can't fix that's. It wasn't the confinement itself that is the problem. It's her sitting with her own thought, her own anger and hurt that drove her to this. And unwinding it all, soothing the fury and mending the friendships, that's what will bring her back. You don't want the fixes I can offer, Littlebird. If I fixed her like you suggest, she would be a shell of herself, deluding her true feelings about her actions to be some smiley glued together doll that would fall apart all over again with the slightest touch."
Another crack of lightning streaked across the sky and the downpour started. All at once, his lights winked out, and the god looked rather sad after all, less power and more frustration and defeat. "It's not for want of her insanity that I do nothing. I am not the source of her unhappiness. Thus, I cannot mend the problem. Not in a way that would be genuine. She will either come out of this with the aid of those who care about her, or she won't. Until something changes. She is still Priestess, and she will remain as such until it is most probable that she won't recover." It wasn't much, but his words were a vague hope. At least, that last line was. He was keeping her as High Priestess, because for what he could see in the way that they couldn't, was that it was more likely than not she'd come out of this. Not without her own scars, but that her insanity would fade, all the same.

LITTLEBIRD
SUNCLAN PRIESTESS PROMISED
"Difficult for you?" she almost let loose her tongue again, but as his lights began to fade she stopped herself. She could see the struggle he was going through, even though what he had asked of her was near impossible. "She went after my son" her words were less harsh this time, more from a place of concern than anger. Tears welling up in her own eyes
"She could have him murdered at a moment's notice, order the clan to rip my new litter limb from limb. Lionpaw loved Foxstar, she was like a grandma to him, and she tried to have him killed. I even thought of sending him and his sister to their father until all this passes....." she shook her head, never having seen her little boy so afraid before. To know that someone he trusted now wanted him dead. "How many have to die to bring Foxstar back? How can you expect me to sit on the sidelines while she tears the clan apart and murders those that I have sworn to protect? Im fighting her at every opportunity, but you are the only one that can over turn her orders. If you can't fix her, then at least take away some of the power that she holds until she is in her right mind"

"There's something wrong with Foxstar even I can't place. There is no reason that this all should be hitting so hard, and no forethought ever predicted it. But as it has, and it has driven her to this, it will be you who must fix it. I cannot limit the power she has, but I can give you this. Do whatever you must to fix her. If it is not an absolute direct order from her, given to you since her return, then it no longer applies to you until her sanity is restored. Not one single rule. And cat who you use to aid you is freed from these rules as well so long as they are following your direct order, and it does not contradict an order from Foxstar." It was freedom that even the Janus were now allowed. It allowed her to commit treason, and allowed her any accomplices she wished, so long as they were acting on her order. Temporary, yes, but effective.
"And if they do not believe you, then show them this." He turned back around, reaching for Littlebird's paw. Turning it pad side up, he touched his paw to hers and pulled it away, a small, flickering fire sprouting from her paw, a strong orange with flickers of red and gold. He closed her paw and it disappeared, opened it and it reappeared, as if demonstrating how it worked. It disappeared once more as he set her foot back on the ground, a rather serious expression on his face. "Most would not doubt you, but this is their assurance if they should feel the need to question you."
Doubt still rang clear in her mind, but with this gift she at least had a fighting chance of trying to bring back Foxstar. She had never been the type of cat to enjoy breaking rules. Rules are what kept a clan together, what kept the peace. Perhaps that is why the Sun God felt comfortable entrusting her with this, knowing that this wasn't something she wanted nor take advantage of it.
She finally relented dipping her head "All I can promise is to try"
"Littlebird! Honey? Where are you?" Skipstep's voice had an anxious edge, the tom practically vibrating with nervous energy as he looked around for Littlebird, before he caught her scent and hurried over. He'd stuck Lionpaw and Fernpaw to stick with Littlebird's other kits, and Burningstar, he hoped the NightClan leader would be enough of an obstacle for Foxstar.... or at the least if Foxstar decided she wanted to sate her bloodlust she'd go for Burningstar who had lives to lose over his children.
When he saw her he rushed over to her, panting hard from running.
"Littlebird, Foxstar was chasing after Lionpaw, I think if I hadn't shown up when I did and got him away she might've tried to kill him we-" He trailed off when he saw the Sun God, his ears lowering and his eyes widening. Then he swallowed tightly. "I know she's the high priestess," He said stiffly. Tone controlled for the sake of the deity before them. "But I'm worried about what she might do to Lionpaw and Fernpaw. The kits we can keep a close eye on, or stick cats with them so she can't get to them as easily." Hopefully. "But we need to do something for Lionpaw and Fernpaw."

LITTLEBIRD
SUNCLAN PRIESTESS PROMISED
The gray she-cat's ear flickered towards his voice as he called her name, and as he approached she leaned into him. She felt drained and tired, having not slept in far to long. She closed her eyes, trying to figure out what to do next. She had feared that Foxstar might try to kill her children, but hearing that it had happened made it that much more real "You are not going to like this, but we only have one option"
She hated the thought of doing this, but keeping them here any longer would only put them in further danger "We will send them to winterclan, now that Leatherstar is leader he has the power to protect them" she hated to admit, but she couldn't help them now. If Foxstar directly ordered them to be killed, there was not a thing she could do to stop it "Mistyveil is their as well... she can help watch over them"
Skipstep flinched ears flattening at the thought. "Is that really our only option? Can't the Sun God like... disbar her or something." He glanced at the deity. "I mean I know the High Priestess is to be obeyed but shouldn't killing the Sun God's followers be counterintuitive as he'd run out of followers.... considering how insane and clearly murderous she is?" But even as he spoke a glance at Littlebird and the Sun God told him that option wasn't very viable. "Or... could we..." He grimaced not wanting to say it. If they did try to kill Foxstar, it wouldn't make SunClan any more safe for Lionpaw and Fernpaw, than going to WinterClan would. If anything it could just destabilize things or result in their deaths and then their children shortly afterwards.

"It would be safest if they were sent away for a short while." He didn't really want to be involved in their decisions, and unless Littlebird had more to ask, he could sense it was probably time for him to get going, but he did offer the Promised a slight nod. "Even if I did intend to strip her of her position, that would hardly stop her. If anything, it would embolden her, as she'd be free of any thought holding her back." The Sun God cleared his throat, glancing around him. Yes, it was probably time he go. She would be busy now. It totally didn't have anything to do with wanting to avoid his own worshipers or anything.

She just couldn't see any other way to keep them safe at this point, and the Sun God had made it pretty clear that he wasn't going to get involved in all of this. As he disappeared she moved forward and burried her nose in skipstep's fur. She felt torn between keeping them safe and keeping them at her side "They are going to hate me for this" she teared up unable to hold it back any more "What if they choose to never come back?"
Skipstep pulled her close. "They won't." He reassured her. "Lionpaw has seen first paw how crazy Foxstar has become, he'll be grateful to get away from her." Fernpaw he was a little less sure of. "Fernpaw will choose what she will... But she could never hate you. I know it in my heart." He assured his mate.

"Am I interrupting something? I can come back." Darkcomplex felt quite awkward stumbling upon this scene. Of course, even in the moment he'd arrived, he'd heard more than enough. Luckily for the pair, the tom was perhaps one of the best cats to have run into them. He'd been directly harmed by Foxstar's actions with his kits, and it was apparent to those who knew him well he did not much appreciate the Priestess.
Skipstep tensed when Darkcomplex arrived, he glanced at Littlebird before looking at Darkcomplex. Debating what to say. "We're in the middle of a discussion, is it important?" He asked. As a janus and the priestess promised, while Foxstar was compromised, Littlebird was pretty much leader so if there was an emergency or something she should be made aware.
"Er, I suppose not." The tom commented, pawing at his ear. "I just... wanted to talk with Littlebird about Foxstar. I'm concerned." He ended simply, choosing his words carefully so as not to reveal much of anything. To be quite honest, he wasn't sure how much she could say at this moment. With the Priestess back, that sort of muddied things, when any negative word could be used as an excuse for an execution. It wasn't that he didn't trust the two cats in front of him, but he didn't want anything he might say to get back to Foxstar.

Littlbird felt a ripple down her spine as the cat's voice intterupted them. How much of that had he heard? What if he told Foxstar of their plan to send her children away? She paused, forcing herself to remain calm and not assume anything just yet. "What are your concerns?" she left it open ended, watching carefully to see how he would react and what he would say.
