Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Greycloud slipped through SpringClan's territory, she was out in search of easy prey. Truthfully the fresh kill pile was stocked and the Clan wasn't desperate for more food so she wasn't really looking. She carried on until she came to the flower meadow near the mountain. It was one of her favorite places. She slipped out into the tall grass, the fresh scent of rabbit on the breeze. She scanned her surroundings lazily waiting to see if she caught sight of one. A bee buzzed lazily by Greycloud's nose, she sneezed before deciding against all logic and previous experiences - to follow it. She playfully swatted at it, humming along happily.
Smokecloud was in the same meadow searching for fever few, unbeknownst that Greycloud was not far off. After walking several more foxlengths in search of the herb, he came into view of the she-cat notorious for bee stings. What was she doing? Chasing a bee...He let out a sigh and stepped forward, an annoyed look on his face. "Greycloud. What are you doing?" Clearly he knew what she was up to but was quite curious to hear her excuse.
Greycloud stopped and spun around, surprised to see Smokecloud. "Chasing a bee...." She responded after several seconds of staring blankly at Smokecloud. "They're fun to chase, ya know?"
"It's always time to pay you a visit!" Greycloud purred in amusement. "I know that fixing my bee stings is your favorite thing in the whole world!" She added with slight sarcasm.
He smirked, "oh yes, I absolutely love using my herbs to fix your bee stings." His voice rang with sarcasm but a humorous gleam glinted in his amber eyes. He gave his eyes a roll while a smile spread across his cheeks.
"At least I'm not out fighting badger and foxes everyday. That would me a much worse drain on your herb storage!" she chirped in response. "What are you collecting today, anyway?" She asked, eyeing the herbs that Smokecloud had already gathered, it wasn't one she recognized.
He let out a purr, "well, I suppose your right." He looked down at his pile of herbs. "Fever few" he responded with a smile. "It helps to cure colds and cool fevers."
"Who has a cold in the middle of summer?" Greycloud asked with a small laugh. "Do you want some help? I'm not doing much of anything other than chasing the bee's!"
"Leaf-fall is just around the corner. I need to be prepared. I need to collect some catmint next" he responded. "I would grately appreciate the help, Greycloud. Thank you." He couldn't help but feel excited that she was coming to help him but wasnt sure why he was so excited. He supposed he just enjoyed her company. After all, she seemed to always be in his den for a bee sting. He enjoyed having her around.
"Yeah, yeah!" Greycloud responded, just now realizing how close leaf fall actually was. New leaf and Green leaf had flown by it felt like. Leaf bare was her least favorite season, I mean it was most of SpringClan's least favorite season so she wasn't particularly looking forward to the cold. "Where does the catmint grow?" She asked curiously. She knew that it was one of the most important herbs. It cured green cough and most other coughs but it was a fragile herb, making it hard to find and store.
Two - leg garden? That got Greycloud's attention. "I've never been into a two leg garden before! I tend to avoid them altogether and my mentor never bothered to show one to me. Have you ever seen a two leg?" She asked excitedly.
"Oh yeah, I have to get herbs from their gardens sometimes. They usually wont bother you and mostly stay inside their dens." He responded, turning toward the twoleg place with a flick of his tail for Greycloud to follow her.
"I thought they tried to capture Clan cats before? Has that ever happened to you?" she asked curiously, flanking Smokecloud in the direction of the two leg dens.
He shook his head, "the garden I get my herbs from belongs to a little old lady. Fawnheart showed it to me before she left. The poor thing just sits on her porch. I never see any visitors there with her. I would hate to grow old alone."
A stab of sympathy ran through Greycloud for the little old two leg. "That must be awful. At least we care for our elders. I'm surprised two legs don't do the same." She stated. "Then again, they are an odd creature."
"Maybe she doesn't have anyone to look out for her. But other twolegs should at least come take care of her" he mewed sadly as they neared the garden. A wave of bitter sweet smelling herbs hit his nose, drenching the air with their powerful aroma. He slid through a hole in the wooden fence that was caused by a broken board and came upon two large garden beds side by side, one had a surplus of herbs in a variety and one had overgrown vegetables, some rotting and some still fresh. The rest of the yard was over grown with long grass and weeds, dead leaves and twigs littered ground. On the far side of the yard, a large tree grew tall. One of the low-hanging branches held up a swing that had a wooden bottom. Not too far from that, a stagnant pond laid motionless like dirty glass surrounded by rocks. Algae floated on the surface, giving the pond a greenish hue. At one time, this yard would have looked beautiful but now it was run down and a little creepy. Smokecloud looked toward the two-leg den made of stone. Vines crept up the sides that branched out as it took over the old building. Beyond a small square wall of glass, Smokecloud could just make out the tip of the old lady's snow white hair as she sat in a chair facing a box with moving pictures on it. Most of the building inside was dark besides the glow of the magic box and what little light seeped through the walls of glass.
"It looks so lonely in there." He frowned and turned toward the herbs. Before he could pluck some off their stems, a strange smell hit his scent glands just moments before a voice sounded from above them.
"What do you think your doing?" It was hostile but mostly scared. Looking up, Smokecloud saw a plump calico she-cat above them, balancing wobbly on the top of the fence. Her eyes were a pretty forest green and her fur was silky and soft. She looked at them threateningly but there was a hint of fear in her bold green eyes. Perhaps that was why she had climbed the fence.
Smokecloud glanced at Graycloud for a moment before meeting the kittypet's gaze calmly. "I have never seen you before. Are you new?"
The kittypet growled, "I will be asking the questions! Which reminds me, you haven't answered mine!"
"Oh, right. We are here to collect some herbs from this garden." He explained.
The kittypet looked confused but responded with a forced strength in her voice, "This is my garden! You must leave immediately!"
"Ha! A kittypet isn't going to tell us what to do. We'll collect our herbs and leave when we're ready." Greycloud responded firmly, meeting the calico she-cats gaze with intensity. Greycloud was not the best of fighter's by any means and truthfully she'd never really hurt anyone unless her life depended on it and maybe not even then but she also wasn't going to get bossed around by a kittypet for StarClan's sake!
Smokecloud rested his tail on Greycloud's shoulder. "We just need a few herbs. We've been coming here to collect them for a long time."
The kittypet jumped down from the fence and faced the two forest cats. Even as she spoke to Smokecloud, she kept a hostile glare at Greycloud. "Why do you need this stuff anyway?"
"We use it to heal our clan. What do you need it for?" Smokecloud gently challenged.
The kittypet bristled, "yeah, like we need anymore pests like you! You forest cats are so filthy and feral, the house cats around here tell horror stories about you! Why would I let you take my plants so that you can cure all those...nasty diseases." Her face screwed up into a disgust look as she eyed Smokecloud and Greycloud.
