Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Now this was what was what he was talking about. The multiple falls in NightClan were perfect for hunting, it was broad daylight so NightClan was probably asleep and okay maybe he didn't belong here, he was a DayClan cat, but he wasn't technically stealing prey from NightClan if they never at the fish. But he was starving for some actual good fish. DayClan had warm water and one waterfall that was cool, but he was tired of fishing in the same spot. NightClan had dozens of great fishing spots! Zephyrglade knew he shouldn't be invading their territory, but they were in an alliance and truthfully he felt too stupid openly asking them if he could fish on their territory. He saw how they talked to each other and it was like get emotionally mutilated sometimes if you didn't talk to the right NightClan warrior. He'd rather be caught than outright ask and get torn a part by their words. He shivered at the thought, but rolled his shoulders back.
Keep it cool Zephyrglade, your just fishing. This should be fun, they're asleep, and the only mean thing you've done is walk onto their land, but it's cool cause you'd make it up for them if they ever needed you or wanted prey. Zephyrglade let out a breath of air, yeah this would be okay. Zephyrglade walked out into the water with a big grin across his face and waited as a salmon popped out of the water and he gleefully leapt at it missing, but the fun part about it was there was fish everywhere. Once he caught just one fish he'd leave, he decided.
"What do you think your doing?" Came a voice that tried to sound brave but actually ended up sounding quite small. A small black and white tuxedo she-cat, no bigger than an apprentice, padded up to Zephyrglade. Her fur was fluffed up and looked like a little kitten trying to act tough.
"Fishing, do you want to try some fish?" He asked, his paw swiping the water and pulling out a small minnow, "Here you can try this, these are a good first fish to try. Don't worry about the warrior code, it would look more disrespectful bringing this slim fry back to camp than you eating it," He purred.
It was kind of an invisible rule in WaterClan that it was okay to eat tiny, barely claw sized fish while out hunting. No one was going to be able to even see those on a fresh kill pile anyways.
"I probably should, but... I haven't caught anything and I'm just going to feel sad all day if I leave. If I get yelled at, I'd honestly feel better about myself," Zephyrglade admitted before putting his paw back in the water waiting for a fish to pass by.
"Sometimes people who yell at you it's actually pretty cute how mad they look. But, personally, right now, I'd rather get yelled at than make it all this way and catch no fish. Even if in the end I have to release the little fella back into the water, it'll have been worth it, I just really miss fishing," Zephyrglade admitted.
His paw slid back into the water as he lied his belly down, focusing carefully on the fish swimming past him before slowly growing used to his hand where he'd be able to snatch them up once more.
"Well, I'd hate to break it to you. I'm not much of a yeller" she confessed, hesitantly padding to the edge of the stream. She sat down and curled her black tail neatly around her white paws. "I could get in a lot of trouble for letting you fish here" she mowed, casting glances around her to make sure no one was watching and would go rat her out to Burningstar. "If I let you fish, you have to promise to release it."
"I'm not releasing this tasty fish when you're not even going to eat it. You can beat me up if you want, but I'm going to keep trying to catch a fish while getting my tail whipped. Nothing's going to stop me. StarClan could come down from the heavens and it still won't stop me," Zephyrglade proclaimed as he swiped a fish out from the water and smacked it hard onto the ground stunning it before placing a paw back into the water, waiting.
"Hey, what's happening?" Beetleflight padded up to join the cats, he looked at the tuxedo cat and then at Zephyrglade, he blinked. "Who are you?" He noted the fish on the ground and tilted his head. Most of NightClan weren't big on fish, he was rather impressed that the tom had caught one... But he tried to cover it up by trying to figure out what exactly was happening here.
"You're a NightClan warrior aren't you?" Zephyrglade said to Beetleflight and finally turning away from the river, "Now, I cannot say whether you are ignoring a threat or you do not understand the caliber of disaster that is at your paws indicated by the bugs in your clan. Cause let me tell you you've got big trouble right here in the waters of NightClan. Now I'm a fishing kind of hunter, but when I see a six legged, long nosed, skinny body fly I know what I've spotted and it's the south brook mosquito. These dangerous little suckers are lured by bass fish and these waters are infested with bass fish!" Zephyrglade exclaimed, "Now I'm sure you're thinking, well what's a little mosquito bite, but they do more than bite. They spread disease, one of the most infectious, ferocious creatures known to cat kind. Only survival cats really had to deal with them, but now that I've spotted these fiendish bugs in NightClan I sprung into action and I've been fishing up every bass that I could find. I even caught a minnow to try and lure more bass."
He tsked twice, "It's not looking good for NightClan, but I assure you I have the skills to fish as long and as much as needed to get rid of possibly the most deadly thing that has ever flown into your lands."
Beetleflights ears lowered at the sound of it, the way the tom described those mosquitoes was rather frightening if he was being honest. "But... bugs reproduce really quickly though..." He pointed out. He glanced towards the fish on the ground. "And if you caught a lot... where are the others?" He asked, "Because that's just one." He said gesturing to it.
"Well that's just the marvelous thing about bass fish, they're flirty fellows. Once they notice bass fish are disappearing their natural instinct kicks in telling them to carry on elsewhere. Some die from heartbreak, the poor devils," He shook his head, but eyes widened with joy, "So here's what I'm thinking we'll do. I'll fish the waters for as many bass fish as I can and once the bass fish begin disappearing they'll know to get the heck out and once they leave so will those south brook mosquitoes. Now, I can't put a price on helping a brilliant allies such as NightClan, but unfortunately I am a warrior of DayClan. I should really ought go back over there, but I'm one of the few cats that can fish. I feel a responsibility as though it were StarClan's will to stay here. I want to assist you in erradciating the fiendish bugs by catching the bass fish, but if I am to do that I will need to take some of the fish back to DayClan so I have something to show for my day. So what do you say? I fish out your nasty problem and to help me out I get to take the bass fish home?" Zephyrglade asked, his steely blue gaze staring almost dreamily into Beetleflight's.
Echomelody jumped slightly at Beetleflight's sudden voice. She whirled around to see her friend approaching them. Instantly, her heart began to race. Would he get her in trouble for allowing a Dayclan warrior to hunt on their land? However, Beetleflight didnt seem all that bothered by the other tom. He seemed more worried about the bugs that the Dayclan warrior was rambling on about. These so-called brook mosquitoes sounded dreadful. If Zephyrglade was right, these mosquitoes could spread diseases throughout the clan. Echomelody never considered herself one to call all the shots and make decision, she was more of a peace keeper. When Zephyrglade suggested a deal, the tuxedo she-cat wasn't sure what to say. It sounded important that they got the fish out of the water and the Dayclan warrior's plan sounded like it might work but how did they know he wasn't lying? She had never heard of mosquitoes causing diseases and that getting rid of the fish would make them go away. Mosquitoes were just pesky bugs and they were everywhere.
"How do we know we can trust you?" She questioned, narrowing her pretty green eyes. "What if your just telling us that this will work and you run off with our fish? Granted, we dont usually eat fish but in desperate times, Nightclan has resorted to eating fish to stay alive. Leaf-bare is around the corner. If one of our clanmates can fish, the bass would be a feast. If you take them to the point that they leave, we are left with minnows and carp and Dayclan get our bass."
"Maybe we should get a second opinion," Beetleflight said uncertainly. "Maybe we should go see if Turbulentsea knows about these mosquitoes, he'll have spoken to the other medicine cats at half moon. Surely if it was such a problem, then BrookClan or WaterClan's medicine cats would've shared this with him?"
"Uh well..." Beetleflight paused. With Burningstar and Larkwing away... Who did they take him to. "I guess one of us goes and gets Turbulentsea and then we see what he says. If Turbulentsea says there is such a disease we can work out what we should do."
"Yes, Turbulentseas, that sounds like a Survival Clan name to me. Surely he must have met with the medicine cats there and heard all about it," Zephyrglade said nodding along with the two before he let out a gasp as he took a good look up close at Echomelody's paw, "My my my, look at that paw," Zephyrglade said walking forward to examine it, "Why, I've only seen paws as plum perfect as these in WaterClan. Slick fur, light bones, and your paw is perfectly fanned out to catch bass. I know we have to wait for Turbulentseas, but I'm telling you, I've seen these mosquitoes wipe out a quarter of the nursery if these things aren't sought out fast. You have the genuine perfect gene makeup to catch these fiends clean out of the water. What do you say? I teach you how to pluck a fish from water while we wait? Knowledge is strength, after all."
Echomelody blushed at both embarrassment and flattery as Zephryglade complimented her paws. Now that the Dayclan warrior pointed out her body design, she realized that she did look like she belonged in Waterclan. She had slick and shiny fur, soft paws, and she was small and petite. Echomelody was found abandoned and Stealthclaw had brought her in and raised her. Perhaps there was a chance she had survival clan blood in her. Flattered by Zephryglade's compliments, she eagerly nodded her head, "I'd love to!"
