Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Doefreckle padded listlessly beneath the soft, grey morning sky, head clouded and eyes blurred by that terrible sort of numb disinterest that came with misery. He had wandered further than he ever had before, through cold, misty meadows glinting with silvery dew in the pale sunlight; through dim-lit forests and fields specked with flowers; across white twoleg fences and gurgling streams. He hardly noticed. It was one of those days - the ones where all the unkindness caught up to him. The ones where he called himself all sorts of cruel names like stupid and weak; the ones where he believed he deserved all the abuse he had endured, where he half-convinced himself he would never find peace or happiness, where he found himself teetering on the edge of simply giving up.
His whole body ached with hunger and exhaustion, the sort that felt far more sick than it did greedy. Far more hollow. It didn't matter, really. Not much did anymore. There was only hope dished out without thinking and spat back in his face like acid. There were only naive, sickening pipedreams cutting into his throat like a noose - and they wouldn't stop. They would never stop. He was always going to get back up, always going to forgive, always going to smile and dance and believe - and for what? For what?
He was so lonely.
His injured leg caught on the twig of a fallen log and sent him crashing to the ground. He let out a strangled cry - that was the final straw. Nothing went right. Nothing ever went right. There were just empty promises and pretty smiles and blood caked onto his fur the next morning. He collapsed on the ground, weak and limp as a kit, and stretched his neck out to rest his chin against the earth. He stared unseeingly at a point above the horizon, throat scratchy and eyes stinging. He blinked rapidly and squeezed them shut, swallowing thickly. Why not just let yourself cry? he thought quietly, in some gentle, broken corner of his mind that only made its voice heard at times like these, when it knew it could take advantage of him. It's about all you're good for.
Now that the sickness was beginning to clear from her mind, Ravenstar felt an equal mix of peace and horror. She had done some awful things while under the influence of the mind sickness, but fortunately it was not something that was completely irreversible. She had taken one of Thrushstar's lives and made an enemy of all of Fallclan. She could not give him his life back but he had 8 remaining and the relationship between the two clans would be mend able with time or at least she hoped as much.
The sound of a strangled cry pulled her from her thoughts of Fallclan and she followed the noise, curious and wondering what exactly was happening. The last time she had followed a noise like this it resulted in her bringing home 7 tiny furry bundles that she now called her children, but this cry was not the same one. It was a cry of pain and desperation, the cry of a cat who had lost everything and given up and the leader could not ignore it for even a second. The sight she stumbled across was worse than the one she had been expecting and she approached him with concern in her eyes. What should she do? He looked hungry, hurt, and maybe even a little sick. "Are you okay? Can you hear me?" She asked the tom, hurrying to his side.
"I'm not a kit — I'm fine," Doefreckle snapped, his temper, stoked by embarrassment and the sting of weakness, making a rare appearance. As quickly as it had surfaced, it slipped back down into the shadows of the sunflowers and rainwater inside his veins. He glanced up, insecure uncertainty making his ears lie flat against his head, and met the wide eyes of the other cat. He let out a weary, self-deprecating sigh — what a sight, ey? — and smiled thinly, shaking his head. "I'm sorry, you're very sweet. I..."
He let out another airy little laugh and pushed himself weakly into a sitting position, forelegs wobbling unsteadily. His muscles twitched with the effort. "It's a long and boring story to do with a tragic hero — that's me —" He offered a weak, sunny smile, "—and his complete and utter inability to do what's good for him. I know — what a chump. I—d'you know, I was actually stupid enough to leave my Clan — to leave my family — for some— for some tom who never looked at me twice once I was in his own Clan. I mean—" He laughed, all sour, flimsy sorrow, "—how much of an idiot can you possibly be? Well, that's me! Doefreckle the idiot. And I'm—ugh, I'm sorry, this isn't fair to you, I shouldn't be putting all of this onto you, I just... really don't want to go home right now. And I'm babbling. Another Doefreckle specialty."
He smiled weakly, eyes bleary and exhausted, and gestured towards her with a forepaw. "You look lovely, by the way. I'm, uh— I'm Doefreckle. BrookClan. Duh. Sorry."

Ravenstar allowed him to ramble with a bit of sympathy, her grey eyes warm and soft as they usually were. "Love can make us do some very unexpected things." She nodded with understanding. He was no threat to her or Summerclan. He was a hurt, angry, and embarrassed tom who had left behind everything... for what, she didn't know and it was really none of her business after. "I understand what that is like, it has made me do some.. unexpected things and it comes from the most unexpected places." She studied him for a moment. She wasn't entirely sure what it was, but there was something she liked about it.
"Have you made it this far because you are leaving Brookclan? It is not often we find cats from there in Summerclan territory."
Leaving BrookClan? Doefreckle blinked up at her, muddled and lost and more than a little defensive. He wasn't leaving — he had simply... His gaze drifted down to the wildflowers around them, cloudy and sorrowful. When his eyes flicked back up to her, they were pleading, any defensiveness melting away into help me. He forced a shaky smile and a little huff of a laugh, drawing vague patterns in the dust with one forepaw.
"Would that... Would that be an option?" He glanced up at her shyly; his voice was soft, the frail hope seeping through the feigned flippancy. "I haven't much to offer your Clan at the moment, but, I mean, at the very least, I can be a chew toy for the kits." He laughed, all air and weak sunshine. "I—well, I suppose I shouldn't unload all this delightful groveling onto you, sweet as you are to listen. Ravenstar is your leader, isn't she? Do you think she might grant me an audience so I can do this begging routine in person? I promise I'm not a spy, though I do suppose that is precisely what a spy would say. Hm." He smiled lopsidedly, humming a purr.

She smiled at him, intrigued and curious about him. Few cats would admit they have little to nothing to offer and the way he spoke... she believed he could be an asset to Summerclan.
"Hmm... she might if she likes your attitude. Can I ask what brings you this far to my border? It's okay if you won't, I will bring you back to our camp for you to rest and make a decision."
