Universewander
A creature who has lived many lives and seen many things, born of the ash that created the universe and cursed to never find a place in which his bones would forever find rest and solace. He is the kind of creature meant not to exist as a permanent fixture of anything, rather moments of existence meant to be caught only through half-raised eyelids as they open towards the light for the first time in the morning. He is a ghost, one whose memory is often forgotten, limited to these spaces of semi-consciousness. Sometimes, it is argued if he is real at all, or just a myth, a group delusion, as he often disappears just as he appears, without a trace. He is neither here nor there, yet at the same time, he is both here and there. He enters the lives of others like the moonlight enters the sky after dusk, but is always gone by the time the first rays of the sun enter. After all, true nomad, one who wishes that one day he finds a place where his soul can rest. This is not of his own choosing, though. Every cell in his body, every fragment of his own universe, craves a space in which he can call home. Perhaps this is why he travels so often. It is his mission, his entire purpose, to find the one place in which he is meant to exist for more than just the space between blinks. He comes to see if this is the place in which his pieces will align and he will fit, and leaves once he knows that it is not. Or, perhaps, there are some people who are never meant to stay, no matter how much they desire to settle down. Perhaps he is not the only one and there are others who feel bound to eternally wander the cosmos in search of a place they may never find, ones that stay in one spot just long enough that they can serve those around them before fading from a collective existence. Perhaps there is beauty in this, beauty in the fact that some creatures know just how long to stay in a place before their stay becomes unwelcomed. Perhaps there is an ultimate sadness in this, the fact that some will never find home. Perhaps, he is the only one, though, and that his wandering of the universe is a task that has only been carved out for his soul, a purpose given by some higher, merciless power. Perhaps, he goes to seek a great perhaps. Perhaps, despite his desire to let his paws become roots, he understands that this is his destiny and he must follow the call of the cosmos. Would it be sad, then, if he were only following a pre-destination? There is no way to know, as no matter how hard he tries to limit the attachment of others towards him, there is always a trail of sadness in his wake. It is hard to separate this from the sadness of his journey, the fact that, although he is only remembered as an old friend, a flame that burnt out too quickly before he moved to his next destination, he will never truly be understood. Either way, heart-wrenching or not, Universewander knows that his name-sake describes the path in which he must take: he must forever drift through the cosmos, only to hope that one day, he may break this curse.
