Exsperavit fixed his gaze on the mortal, swirly pits of a long-lived insanity. For a few moments he stared, his mind completely blank. “You're doing this—“ he said harshly, his eyes stirring on the edge of unexplainable anger, “you’re doing this because I said so.” He circled around the mortal a few times. “I’m your God, I don’t need to ‘pay you for your fruits of labour,’ you do them on my command. Simple. Simple. You mortals don’t seem to understand simple.” He headed off with a flick of his tail.
Exsperavit measured the areas by his tunnels. Truthfully, without his tunnels he wouldn’t know where he was going. His mind painted a blurry picture of the land he walked on, measured out by his many, many holes that he had dug out. He was going in a direction he was sure he had no tunnels in. The unknown. But, he continued on his way. Mumbling a few words to himself here and there while strolling through an ocean of secrets. He should have covered this area a long time ago.
The ghosties got louder. Extremely louder. Exsperavit tripped over his own paws and fell to the ground, a great pain seizing his body. And he saw them. The ghosties. Huge white figures, vaguely shaped like cats, emerged from the ground and flew into the air. Their many eyes fixed on him. Their voices were loud—so loud—but it was like he couldn’t understand a word they said. and just like that, it ended. He buried his fake into his paws and yowled.
“They got me! Oh, look what they’ve done! It can’t be—I can’t be—I’ve got a world to save! Respect to earn! They’ve killed me and now everything will go wrong!”
"Well that was hot," Lucistic said as he watched Exsperavit walk away. The poor sap had no idea he was insane, what an enviable way to live.
Lucistic clicked his tongue listening as it echoed through the trees. He clicked his tongue louder before scraping at the dirt, "Doo doo dododododooo ♪♫"
"Rit to tooo to to tooo ♪♫"
"La dah dah dah shwamabadabingbing ♪♫"
He clicked his tongue again.
Yup.
He was bored.
Lucistic followed after Exsperavit's scent trail and found Exsperavit's face in his paws screaming into the ground. There were about only two ways he was going to rediscover the guy and this was probably the only logical way to find him. Did the guy really think he was dead?
"Hey, buddy? You doing alright there, gotta say I don't remember tampering with your prey, but if I did this is one heck of a trip, huh?"

Exsperavit twisted back so suddenly it kind of hurt. But he ignored his phantom pain, it wasn’t real, he was dead he couldn’t feel pain. Oh, he was dead! But, this mortal could see him! He bounded to him. “No, no, the ghosties have finally claimed me! They wanted me the whole time and they got me! But you can see me! But how? Nobody has ever seen my ghosties before! Wonderful, wonderful mortal.” He skipped around. In a matter of seconds his mood plummeted to zero. How could he be dancing around when he had just died? When he had a world to save?
”How am I going to push the sun back? How will I save the world?” Panic overwhelmed him, his heart beating against his chest. “Curse the ghosties! Why did they want me? Why not someone else?”
"Oh y'know, the world works in chaotic patterns, but people pretend there's an ultimate plan to lull themselves into this fake concept of sanity. Y'know the name of this place primal instinct is basically substituting sanity with our most basic instincts which... You seem to possess neither of those qualities just a rare case of cotard delusion or as the cool cats call it corpse syndrome."
"Anyways since you're," He waved his paw playfully at him before booping him on the nose, "Deaaad, and I can see you, I think it's only fit that you gotta serve me."

Exsperavit glanced around, his eyes wide as the ghosties seemed to surround him. They were coming after him. But he couldn’t run, no, and so he just stopped. Defeated.
Not yet. A voice rang, a higher pitched, female it seemed. She sounded familiar. Ahead was a bright light, a dancing shape of light that subtly took the form of a feline. There was a flash and he was...exactly where he was. And that lunatic was still talking.
“Shut up, mortal!” He spat, hissing. His heart still hammering in his chest, his ears still ringing, he reached a paw out. It landed on the mortals chest fur. Solid. He was solid. “Oh! I’m not dead! The molly saved me! The ghosties were scared, yes, so scared of her! If I were not a god, I would be too.” He chirped, dancing on his tip-toes. “They can’t claim me yet.”
"Yeah okay man, you just uh. Celebrate I guess, am I excused from your godly services or am I still a slave to your annoying non tormenting antics?" Lucistic asked with an annoyed expression, maybe there was still time to do something cool with his day before he went to sleep.

“Celebrate?” He let out a wheezy laugh, slamming his paw into the dirt below him. “Celebrate? Mortal, this isn’t a birthday party, this is life and death. I don’t see the ghosties celebrating their demise, in fact I hear them wailing. How do you not hear their cries?” Shaking his head and tsking, Exsperavit wound around the mortal and bounced passed him, stopping suddenly to get his chaotic thoughts in order.
“Mortal.” He said quietly, the sound a whisper through his teeth. He could faintly hear their tears, the little droplets hitting his ears. “Mortal, do you understand? You seem not to take me seriously. Am I a joke to you?” Turning suddenly, he let out a strained hiss. “I know in fact you are a cruel joke from the universe, one in which I hardly find amusing, but do you laugh at me?” Tilting his head, he took a few steps forward, unsheathing his claws. He had half the urge to give the Mortal a good scratching, and was about to do it when he shook his head aggressively.
He let out another laugh, one that crackled with insanity. “Mortal, Mortal!” He placed a paw on the tom’s chest. “Silly molly.” He purred, a sound rarely heard from him. “I find you amusing, I just pray you don’t think me a joke.”
His thoughts were disturbed as he jerked a paw away on instinct from Exsperavit. He rolled his acid green eyes at him and for just a moment he could hear his fathers demon, low and cruel sending frosty chills through his ears. His ear twitched at the prickle of cold, but it was gone in a moment, it always was, he doubted Senescence deflected such vicious temptations. He tilted his head up and with an attitude of a teenager he put up his paw pinching his claws together with a tiny inch of space as though to say he only laughed at this much.
Seeing Exsperavit's claws unsheathe warmth hit his cheeks fast, they were so pretty. Manicured to puncture through skin into pain, he could already picture them sliding through his flesh and the wonderful screams he could make come out of his throat. He shivered not expecting Exsperavit's touch, he thought the guy was just going to laugh manically while he fantasized getting beat up, why couldn't they ever be on the same page here?
"I find you amusing, I just pray you don’t think me a joke.”
Lucistic's ears flattened for a moment, his eyes daring to look back at Exsperavit's claws, they were so sharp. If he laughed at him he'd be pummeled to the ground, maybe he wouldn't even be able to get up afterwards. His entire body tingled at the thought, he pushed his best smug, boyish grin across his lips, his reptilian eyes locking onto Exsperavit's, "Actually, I think you're pretty cool."
He felt his tail sag slightly, but curved it up for Exsperavit not to notice. Yeah, yeah, pain would be cool, but the guy actually was afraid of his judgment. How many times had he openly been laughed at? Given that it was the league, probably a lot, didn't he deserve one person who took him seriously? To see him as a guy with knowledge and not the local lunatic? Ugh! He looked back at Exsperavit's claws, so shiny! So sharp! Couldn't he just get a taste of Exsperavit's fury, just a teensy bit?
He resisted and smiled back at Exsperavit, "You are mister prophecy man. Also did you just call me molly? Look, I know I'm hot stuff and all, but I gotta break it to you, I'm a tom."

Twitching his tail, Exsperavit let out an uneven purr, a sound he rarely made. “Cool, you say? I don’t think so, I’m pretty sure we’re warm blooded?” He tilted his head, a confused expression laid out on his face. “Mortal, you are one of the first to take me seriously, other than another pretty kitty a while back. She left, if I recall correctly.” The ghostie whisperings had started again, much quieter than they had been this past little while. He let out a crooked laugh.
“Now, Mortal, if you’re on my side, what would you like in return? I am, after all, very fair.”
"What do I want?" Lucistic wondered aloud, "I want you to be my best friend in every sense of the word. That means you gotta be honest, loyal, kind, and generous to me. If you could be my best friend, I'd love that," He purred. Although he pondered the idea aloud for a moment it seemed as though the idea had been in his mind for quite a while now. His black claw tapped against his fangs in thought before withdrawing his paw away and saying, "Unless that's too difficult for you? I just figure since you're at an immortal sort of status you'd be able to handle it and shouldn't question your capabilities sort of a thing," He shrugged.
