The wannabe puppeteers and deranged psychos were as thick and intoxicating as smoke. For Lucistic it was like smelling fresh kill in the morning, just another toasty morning among fellow murderers. He skipped across camp and over to the scrawny freshkill pile where there was little to no prey because everyone fended for themself and it wasn't a clan after all, no one was required to do so. But there were orphaned kits and cats that didn't want to admit they were elders out of fear that the league would turn on them. The weak were all around them, it was a fact of life and in all honesty anyone who was strong would eventually die weak or be killed for not being strong enough. That was just the circle of life here, it was why he planned to retire in either WaterClan or DayClan.
Already even in new leaf the trees leaves were thicker than the stuffy air around him. The light was forced out by the dark leaves and crowded trees. Ivy clung to the bark and mushrooms were sprawled across the land in damp mossy patches of grass. The tom had obsidian night fur with radioactive green eyes that held a halo of copper wrung around it, possessed looking. He was a massive tom like his father with his mothers hour glass figure towering over everyone like a giant, a monster. He strode out into a clearing and squinted at the sunlight, he was looking for something to hunt down.

The night had been filled with the screams of ghosts, their paws reaching for his pelt, begging him to join them. He had told them, time and time again, he would not join them. Why would he? He couldn’t, he was a god. He was above them, their superior. Exsperavit crept across the camp, wooly, knotted tail hung high. The grey tabby tom, his fur tangled and chewed off in some places, fixed his wife eyes upon the sky. “It’s almost time. Oh, it’s almost time. Why, I wonder why, oh why, the world has to come to an end. But do not fear, I will save them all.” The ruffled tom crept to a dark corner, circled for a bit, and started to dig. “The end will come in stages. Floods will leave this place in ruins, then fire will run through the land, and when the sun begins to fall I will push it back.” They would have to hide underground first, to escape the floods and fire, and he must start their new underground home before it happened. “It’s a simple case. A case that I have solved, the case of the end of the world. Only the evil will perish. The world is mad to think we are safe.”
Lucistic decided not to look back at the leagues psychopath of the night and quickly ran right into a tree.
My patience is being tested tonight...
Lucistic got up and rubbed his head with his paw before deciding to do probably the next craziest thing, reason with a lunatic, "Hey, y'know if we die would it really be that bad? Like we know there's an afterlife, even if it's a dark one. So like, why not live our best lives and enjoy today right?"
The tom had a slick sounding voice that was as smooth as a calm river with a playful edge. He wasn't considerate, but he could definitely sympathize for the poor future cult leader. After all Lucistic considered himself pretty unstable and he knew parts of his life couldn't be controlled. Maybe this weirdo just couldn't catch a break and life beat him down. Either way he decided not to force the guy to stop or give him too hard of a time, at least not in a violent sense.

Exsperavit jumped, his claws unsheathing and his tail spiking. "Who is here? A friend or foe?" He looked up to see the tom above him. "I think life-sucker! You will not take me, mother warned me about you! If you do, then you will die. The world will die, and it will be your fault." He shook out his head to this cat's words. "How could you be dense, mortal? How can we enjoy tonight when it will end? It's a... A...." He trailed off, his mind blanking for a moment. The ghosts had stopped their whisperings. They had left him alone with this strange mortal. The woolly-furred tabby tom continued to dig. This tom did not no a thing, not a single thing. But, nobody could match Exsperavit's intelligence. His cunning abilities. His powers. Of course he would think they were dumb compared to him. "Help me with these diggings. Little lizard diggings, little mole diggings for little mole homes. Homes for us when the world floods and burns! That is if you are pure enough. The universe has a funny way of thinking. Very funny. A real staraugh." The word sounded tasty on his tongue, a flower-petal of goodness. "If you wish to suck out my power, you must leave me. I will fight you. You've been hunting me, hunting me long time, and now you caught me. But you can't kill me! I will come back, a ghostie, but a powerful ghost. You would pay as the world is destroyed." He eyed the tom, his greenish-yellow eyes little slits of a claw. "Maybe you are not a life-sucker. I shall give you a chance, mortal. I can see the admiration in your eyes, for your savior, Exsperavit."

(I'll be a little slower this week, it's my finals week)
"Oh yayyyy. I get to hangout with you more," Lucistic said with nervous mock excitement, "Y'know we don't actually have to dig, at our old territory there's an entire underground city. Of course there's cougars and rabid bats... But hey, it's roomy. Listen um. What's your name? You can Leu if you want, but I think you're just making yourself a little too anxious here. Maybe stop thinking so much about others and think about you. What do you want? She-cats, prey, power, toms?"
Sure the guy was a little crazy and probably a future mad man in the making, but maybe he was just stressed. Who wouldn't be stressed if they felt they were the only ones that could save the world? The poor guy just needed some me time. Or maybe he could get into this cult or whatever this tom was trying to rally forces to do. He didn't want to be the only one not apart of the apocalyptic membership.

Exsperavit stared at the tom for a good few moments, his head tilted. “Mortal does not understand. This mortal is a fool.” He examined the tom, then turned away and stared at the small hole he dug. “I must dig them, or they will be destroyed.” He turned back to watch the tom as he spoke. “I am not anxious. I am not mad. You cannot dare assume. You don’t understand, mortal fool, you don’t understand . I’m the only one who has clear eyes, the only one that can see the near end. Everyone else is blinded by insanity.” As the tom spoke some more, Exsperavit started to wonder. What did he want? He didn’t want most of the options listed, maybe the power, but everyone already loved him. All he needed was to be reorganized as their leader. He shook his head. “I want...need to do what mother wanted, what mother prophesied.” He circled the tom. “She knew all along, all along. That I would save us all. I just hope I can do it before I die. Before the ghosts come to collect me. It is suppose to happen soon, very soon, but I will stop it.” He stopped clicking once he got dizzy. “Exsperavit, is my name. Who are you, mortal?”
"Not to brag, but my dad was literally considered the incarnate of death and my mom was hailed as a reaper so I can't be that mortal. My names Lucistic, it translates to enjoying the pain of light. But dude, like-"
Lucistic's gaze caught on Exsperavit's determined look. He let out a relieved breath of air, "Heh, I was just testing you Mr. Prophecy. Look, I don't want to be saved cause if the ends coming then that's just my fate," he shrugged, "But if you want to build your panic hole I'll help, it sounds like your destined for greatness and that can't be easy to hold on your shoulders right? Especially if you're trying to make your mom proud. So how about you tell me the plan mister boss man."
He couldn't deny how stressed Exspervait looked. The guy probably had to work out somethings and once he saw that all hell wasn't going to break lose he could probably use someone who could help him through it. He didn't seem like a lunatic, I mean, okay yeah he did, but a stressed out one who genuinely feared for others. That was kind of a nice fresh of air so why not go along with it?

“Exsperavit!” He hissed. “I don’t care if you want to get saved, I could let the earth die if I wanted to. I couldn’t care less for the mortals, they’re just little bugs. Fluttering, annoying flies. But I won’t, mother wanted me to fulfill my duty. That’s why I was hidden, so I could save you all when the time comes. You don’t seem to understand, mortal. I expect you to be bowing down to me.” He lashed his knotted tail. A crawling sensation spread through the fur above his tail, near the large bald patch. Stupid itch! Annoying itch! He bent over and nibbled at it, getting his mouth full of fur. He spit it out and straightened up. “It’s not a ‘panic hole,’ it’s a tunnel system that will save us all until I can push back the sun. I already started some out there somewhere but they need to connect.” He wandered back to the hole he just started digging. “I will tell you what you must do, mortal, you must dig. Start digging.” He ripped up more dirt, dirt getting under his claws. He must have dug in a particularly rough spot, as a pain shot up his paw. He lifted it up to see a claw, pulled loose and sending pain radiating through him. “I don’t care if your claws get ripped out.” He shook out his own. Mother would not let him succumb to this measly pain. He continued to dig. “Dig.”
"I mean, no offense, okay maybe a little, but I kind of feel you can't force me or honestly anyone to bow down to you let alone dig a hole," Lucistic lied down on the ground beside Mr. Prophecy, "But listen, I know a place that already has an underground. It's our old territory just a little ways from here. Has an entire underground city and it could be all yours if you want, it's not like anyone else remembers it," He said, but made a tsk noise, "if you're interested that is I could show you the way."
Digging sounded like. Well work and if there was an even grander underground area that he knew of why not let the guy go there. There were cougars and rabid bats, so maybe Exsperavit would fall in a ditch or get eaten alive or catch rabies... Maybe he already was rabid. But point being, there was nothing but benefits for taking him there so why not give him and himself an out from digging. After all he doubted the guy was going to be able to make a tunnel like this. At the rate Exsperavit was going he'd probably loose all his claws at the end of the day.

“I expect what I want from the mortals and get what I want.” He hissed. This tom was starting to urk him. “Mortal I said dig. Those tunnels you mentioned are too dangerous. They don’t have my blessings. I’m following what she wanted and she didn’t want dangerous tunnels that will get destroyed anyway.” He continued to dig, his train of thought running off its rails. “What’s your mother like?” He asked, suddenly. He zoned back out, his thoughts racing around, unable to be caught. “Show me. I could add on to it, bless it myself. Oh I’m a genius! Such a genius! Mortal, show me!”
"Wow you're right, dang. I can't argue with that kind of logic, you got me there otherworldly... Thing," Lucistic said as he walked over and began to dig.
"My moms a retired assassin who trained my siblings and I to be killing machines, but still calls my litter mates and I her beautiful angels. What was your mom like and does she live here? Cause if she lives here I have so many questions. Starting with, when did she decide to indoctrinate you into her cult and were you always this bossy or was it by nurture?"
This cat. This Mr. Prophecy tom was going to totally get annihilated here. There was no going around it, he was going to tell the wrong cat to dig and they were going to drag him far away and kill him. Or maybe he'd just be hanging in the middle of camp because after a while no one was going to get mad if the guy kept acting this way. Not to mention he was only caring about the guy cause he had nothing better to do... No wait, no he did have something better to do, why was he caring so much about this guy anyways?
"Also do you need an extra paw there? I am kind of bigger than you after all and your claws are... Falling off and all."
Why did you offer to help him? Why do you do this to yourself Lucistic?

He somewhat paid attention to the mortal’s story, more concerned with his own diggings. The question of his own mother came up and for a while he said nothing. “I don’t know where she is. The last time I saw her was before she hid me, and after she was nowhere. She was...” he wondered for a moment. He could barely remember a time before he was hidden, nothing but mother’s teachings and a few scattered memories. “She was like me.” He stated. “We don’t have enough followers to be a cult, no, no, not yet.” He fell silent again, his tail and ears twitching madly. “No, no, not on my side. You have yours, it’s faster. And my claws are not falling out! If they were then I’d be dying and I refuse to be dying just yet, not yet. It’s like your working with the ghosties. Or your a life sucker. If you were, though, you would have tried something, something long ago. If you’re a life sucker why have you waited so long?”
"Oh okay, not yet," Lucistic said with sarcastic disappointment.
The guys mom was like him? Poor Mr. Prophecy never really stood a chance at getting a normal life did he? His mom probably made him dig everyday, taught him about whatever the heck a ghosty was which was probably a ghost and when Exspeeeeer-aaa-vit was a kit he probably just called him ghosties and now that he was older he had no idea that wasn't how they were pronounced. Or at least that was his guess. Not to mention the name. He could sympathize, his name wasn't exactly easy to pronounce leu sis tick. Luckily no one had nicknamed him Lucy or Luck. But still Exsperavit couldn't be an easy name to grow up with.
He listened as the tom went on ranting to maybe him or his imagination, who honestly knew. He decided to make the poor choice and answer Exsperavit, "Uh, I don't know what a life sucker is, but I think even if I was one I'm too lazy to be evil, just seems like a lot of work."
He moved away from Exsperavit to dig on the other side or at least that's what he got from his directions.

Exsperavit dug for a while, dug until his claws were bleeding and caked uncomfortably in dirt. Finally, he sat up. “I’m hungry. Fetch me food, mortal.” He demanded. Exsperavit was very capable to catch his own food, he was actually a pretty good hunter, but what was the point in getting his own when a mortal was right here? Willing to serve his god, the mortal was. “I can tell you are not a Life-sucker. They’re not as lazy, no, not at all.” He sat, his tail quivering. He shuffled his paws impatiently. “Your god will not wait. Go, go, go ahead.”
About an hour later Lucistic had come back with a squirrel in his jaws. It definitely hadn't taken him an hour to hunt one, in fact he had caught about three mice and a river snake during that time. Slept the rest of the hour and then decided he was bored and truly who else was going to be more entertaining than Exsperavit? Still he couldn't come back empty pawed so he brought with him a brown squirrel and lied it at Exsperavit's paws, "For you, m'lord."

Exsperavit has grown increasingly impatient once the mortal left. He mood did an entire flip-flop and suddenly he was angry. Incredibly angry. The mortal returned. “What took you so long? I’ve been waiting her forever! Mother would never have taken this long for such a simple task.” He scoffed. “Idiotic mortals.” He snatched the squirrel closer to himself and ate quickly, quickly like he wouldn’t eat again for a while. He shook out his head again and glared at the mortal.
"Oh. So you're going to have to punish me then?" His smile widened when he said it, shifting into that genuine, contagious grin, "I mean, I basically starved you, such a powerful figure. You should just let me have it cause I get it. I won't fight back and if you want to bite too I'm cool with that, it doesn't have to just be claws, you can be creative and switch it up."
Lucistic was practically drooling at the idea of pain. Maybe he'd get bit in the neck or claw slowly over the same wound over and over for it to scar. Or he'd just really go at it tearing him apart piece by piece. What a dream! Maybe this guy wouldn't be such a waste of time after all. Or... Probably more likely this tom would be way more interested in digging a hole than actually getting up to hurt him. Not to mention most cats thought it was a trap when he asked them to use him as their personal combat training dummy. He was massive in size and his muscular form was easy to see. Most doubted he would just let them hurt him, but in truth he just didn't get hurt often enough to feel the pleasure of the warm electricity of agony.

Exsperavit would have, he would have long ago, but not anymore. Half of his claws were missing, so what damage could he really do? Some of his teeth were cracked and broken. He could tell this tom wanted it--needed it--and he wouldn't give him what he wanted. "No. The universe will punish you someday, very soon. The world does my bidding for me." He turned away and finished the squirrel, chewing on the bones afterwards. "You'll be punished eventually, eventually, mortal."
"GAAAAH, Fine. FINE! Ugh, y'know you're a real pain in my rear, not even paying me for the fruits of my labor. I mean look how far I got!"
Lucistic was gesturing to the mouse sized hole he made which was actually impressive. He somehow had narrowly dug as deep as he could go to make it look like a mouse actually dug it... Or maybe it made more sense that he just happened to be glancing at a mouse hole and was claiming he dug it when in fact it was just some mouses den he was taking credit for. Both were entirely plausible.
"Can you at least rally the troops, as in me. Give me a good reason why I shouldn't ditch you? Not that we're not great fantastic friends or anything, but... Maybe just remind me why I'm doing this again?"
