He laughed, "Im not the one that nearly took a dunk!" He nudged her playfully. Then his smile faded and he was suddenly serious. "Cannalily, Ive been wanting to talk to you about something...."
He wasnt sure what to say or how to say it. He cleared his throat before he spoke, "I...I like you...a lot...and you might not want me too but I couldnt keep it in any longer. I have loved you since the day you saved my life. I know its stupid...and I'm not very good at this...but I was hoping...you would be my mate?..." He gulped nervously, feeling warm under his fur.

Cannalily blinked, caught entirely off guard. How could she even respond to something so entirely out of left field. It wasn't like she didn't like him too. She did, but at this moment she was stunned. Her best friend just confessed to her!
"O-or not. Its fine. I get it" he shrugged, nervously. "If you just want to be friends, I understand...." Never had he felt so uncomfortable, in love, and so frightened all at the same time. He hoped that confessing wouldnt end their friendship. He didnt want to lose her, even if they remained only friends.
"Im sorry...I guess I just came on too fast...I just really care about you...I was just afraid that if I told you, you wouldnt be my friend anymore" he admitted, his voice shaking.
She nuzzled him. "Don't be silly, Larkwing! Why wouldn't I want to be friends with you? You're my best friend. I wouldn't mind spending the rest of my life with you."

"Let me think about it." Cannalily said, then pausing, looking up at the sky, and looking back to Larkwing. "Done thinking! I'd love to be your mate, Larkwing!"
He purred loudly and pressed himself against her, breathing in her scent. "You've just made me the happiest tom alive." He purred, entwining his tail with hers.
"You are to me" he blushed when he realized how cheesey that sounded. He really did love here. Even when he was seeing Elsie, he knew there wasnt the same connection he had with Canalilly. There was just something so right about her. He just felt right with her.
