Damon walked through the forest, the light of the moon giving everything it touches a silvery glow. A gentle breeze rattled the dogwood trees, causing the white flower petals to drift down like snow. He closed his stunning green eyes and breathed in the sweet scent of spring. Frogs and crickets could be heard in their chorus while the same warm, gentle breeze that swirled around the flower petals made his light brown tabby fur dance. The forest was alive with song and dance as he made his way through it. After some time, he arrived in a clearing. He rolled onto his back and stared up at the star speckled sky.

(I'm so sorry things have been crazy I'm nearing the end of the quarter and things are so hectic)
These days she found herself.... wandering. It was a strange feeling but lately in her free time when she was not training, helping out around the various posts, or guarding them, she felt... lost. Earlier that day she had visited her brother's second litter of kits and she realized how quickly life moved without her. It felt like just yesterday when her father was the commander of RR, a strong and well built, confident tom who she had always looked up to. She was so young at the time and she remembered Ex-commander Fjord's apologetic attitude towards her in the beginning but over time she came to accept him as her commander and several others afterwards. Now, he was sitting in the veteran's post with her father's lifelong love grooming his pinecones. Oh how strange this world was.
Despite all the thoughts and memories running through her mind she felt slightly numb and for once was not attentive of her surroundings. She rarely wandered on the surface like this but today was one of those rare days. She didn't see, hear, or smell anyone so she kept going in a straight line until she stepped on something... long and furry... definitely not a stick... a loud howl announced to her that she had, in fact, stomped on another cat's tail.

Surprised by the cat's sudden appearance - at least to her - she jumped and bolted a few steps sideways, her blue eyes wide. "Oh, I'm sorry I didn't see you." It felt like a lam apology but what else was she supposed to say? It wasn't exactly the mercenary's strong suit.
He sighed, putting his tail back down. "No, no. It's alright. I'm sure it was an accident." He looked at her and perked his ears, pointing his paw at her, "Your Elsie, right?"

(Alright, classes are over and I am here for the summer!)
The grey-blue she-cat's ears perked at her name and she nodded. "You are Damon if I remember correctly." She tipped her head to him. She vaguely remembered him joining the regime not that long ago. After all, it was important to know who surrounded you and that you may one day have to fight besides. It would be good to take this opportunity to get to know him. Learning his strengths and weaknesses would be greatly in her favor. "What are you doing out here?" She asked curiously.
(I'm so sorry! I somehow missed your comment and your bump! Ugh! This move to Florida has really put me behind!)
He nodded as she said his name. He was actually surprised that she knew him. Many of the Regime cats really didn't pay him much attention. "I just like coming out here and looking at the stars. I try to make shapes out of them sometimes. How some cats look at clouds, I look at stars" He paused, narrowing his eyes questioningly. "What about you? What brings you out here this time of night?"
(That’s okay! I’ve been really busy too lol glad to see we are continuing this rp though!)
She peered at him curiously and thought it was a bit strange that he came out simply to gaze at the stars and attempt to make sense of them. Then again, at least he had a reason. “Just because. The fresh air is nice and I don’t have any duties.” Elsie looked up at the aforementioned stars and remembered back to something a clan cat had once told her.
“Did you know that clan cats believe stars are their dead? When their warriors die, they believe a new star appears in the sky that they call silverpelt.” She, of course, did not believe in that but she had always found clan life to be interesting even if it was not for her.
He looked at her as if she had birds flying out of her ears. He looked back up at the sky, a confused look on his face. "Really?" He didn't understand why they would think that was their ancestors. "What happens when there is a shooting star? What does that mean to them?"

She shook her head, "I don't know. I was never a clan cat, I just used to know a few - here and there. Maybe it means that cat has fallen from grace or they are returning to be reincarnated, the clan cats believe in such things as well. It sounds crazy, right?" She smiled a little bit and glanced at him, blue eyes glinting in the dark starlight. "Since you are still new to the regime... what do you believe will happen when you die?" Some would consider their conversation very morbid but... Elsie had witnessed much death in her life in the Regime. Her own father was murdered by their family and she watched her fellow mercenaries fall one by one by the paws and jaws of their foes.
He was taken a little by surprise at her question. He guessed he never really thought about it. He used to be a street cat and he had seen many cats hit by monsters but he never thought about where they went after death. None he was really close to. He only remembered faded memories of his mother. He ran the streets when he was old enough to eat solid food and couldn't remember what happened to his mother. He thought about her question, really thinking about what he believed in. "Well...I'm not sure...I guess I just believe you die. Nothing happens to you. You just...stop living" he shrugged like it didn't matter to him but now that he thought about it, he was almost afraid. What if he died? Would it really be the end for him? Or will there be a place for him among the stars like the clan cats believed? "What about you? What do you believe will happen?"

"The blind protector will come to collect me, just as he has come to collect many I have once known. It probably seems strange to talk about, huh? I don't know what life is like outside of the Regime, but cats die in battle here more than we die of sickness or accidents so it's only natural I think of it. I will admit, I was always curious of what was outside of here and my father's love left for a long time and came back but... she refuses to talk of her time while she was gone, even to her own children. What is it like out there?" She was not particularly close to Veteran Astrid but a piece of her wanted to be, it was one of the few links she had left to her father. Despite him having her with her mother, his lifelong love had been someone else and she was always curious about it. She did not know much of love but she knew plenty about family, she felt that she was related to the whole of the regime.
(For the record... she pretty much is related to most of the regime which is why I was trying to look outside of it or the changes of accidental incest were way too high x'D)
(haha oh I see! Well luckily I have Damon! He's not from around here XD)
The blind protector? He wondered to himself. He was still fairly knew about what the Regime believed in. Would that thing come for him if he died in the Regime? He held back a shudder, he really didn't want to think about that right now. "Its much more dangerous out there. You don't have other cats to look out for you and family means nothing. Usually a kitten is on its own by the time they are old enough to retrieve their own food. I was about four moons old when my mother finally left. However, I didn't see much of her anyway. She wasn't around very much and would only be there to feed me and then leave. I was her only kit in that litter but she probably has more kits somewhere." He shrugged. He couldn't really feel bad about it since he grew up in that kind of life. "You can't really miss what you never really had" he mewed, slightly solemn as if he had once thought of what it would be like if he had a mother that cared about him. "Its nice to belong somewhere where they care about family. I never even knew my father. My mother never spoke of him, ever. Trust me, you have it good here. A pretty feline like yourself doesn't need to be going anywhere outside the Regime. It's far too dangerous, especially for females--err...I mean, not that I have anything against them." He corrected himself quickly. He didn't want her to think he thought she-cats were weak. Some she-cats are stronger than any tom he had ever come across. "But the streets aren't exactly kind to she-cats" he added, giving his chest fur a couple of embarrassed licks.

(I thought I replied but apparently not cx i love this two already and we barely have any replies)
For some reason, him calling her pretty stuck out in that sentence and she warmed under her fur, glancing away in an attempt to hide her embarrassment. That really wasn't even the point of the conversation and he probably didn't mean it, it was just simply a term and she shouldn't think about it too much. She tried to shake the thought out of her head and looked at him again, clearing her throat. "Somehow that doesn't surprise me. Family is important here and since you're one of us, you are like family. You are in a place where we would all risk our lives for each other. Loyalty is everything." She smiled. "I guess that's especially true for me, I have a huge family and I can't even keep track of all of them. My half-brother, Reisi, keeps having kits too I can hardly keep track of all my nieces and nephews." She purred with amusement.
Damon chuckled, "it must be nice having a family. Well, I really don't have much room to talk, I have Renegade Regime I can call family but I guess I just would eventually like to start my own family, you know? Being here made me realize how important family is. I want that life." He shifted his weight, his green eyes sparkling. "But in all honesty, I don't think I could have too many kits. A litter or two is plenty for me. Hopefully I can be the father mine was not. And hopefully I find the right she-cat who will be the mother she needs to be for the kits we share." His gaze kind of went hazy, as if he were thinking about what it would he like to watch his own kits be born and grow to be fine soldiers of Renegade Regime.

She nodded, "Good luck finding that here. Many she-cats are afraid to have kits because suddenly they are responsible for someone outside of themselves. We can return to our duties at any point once they are weaned but many do not stick around. For some reason when they aren't raisers it's like the kits are aliens or something. I think kits are cute but I can see why many of them are scared because it's a lot of responsibility. A lot of us have families and some of them even big, but many of us feel disconnected from our mothers since we are often not raised by them." She smiled. The tabby wondered if she would ever have kits of her own, but decided she would never make the decision but allow something like that to just happen. What will happen will happen and she was a firm believe that the Blind Protector looked over and guided each of their paws to where they should be. "There are a lot of good cats here in the Regime, you'll just have to look around." She smiled. It was a bit odd to be talking about mates and kits with a tom cat she barely knew but it was kind of nice too. "I think I want kits one day myself, but I decided I wouldn't seek out a mate or kits per se and figured that maybe one day it would just... happen if it was meant for me."
"Anyways.... Care to join me on a walk? I could show you some of the best places nearby for sparring or relaxing."
He listened to her, curious about what she thought and the way the group worked. "Sure! I would like that. Clearly laying on the ground isn't the best place to relax" he joked, bringing up the time she stepped on him just a few moments ago. He wanted to ask her why she didnt want to seek out a mate and how she could find one if she never looked but he pushed that away. She changed the subject for a reason and he wasn't going to press her to tell him everything. They had only just met.

She offered a sheepish smile and flicked her tail in a gesture to move forward. "Sorry about that, I don't often come across others on the surface. Have you gotten well acquainted to the territory? There's some pretty neat stuff up here that you can't find in the dirt tunnels."
He followed, confidently falling into step with her. "I suppose I am. Living in the tunnels is going to take some getting used to but I didnt fall in love with the territory. I fell in love with the group. That's the reason I am here. So, unfortunately, we hide out in tunnels but the Regime kindly took me in and gave me a place to rest my head. I couldnt ever repay that generosity. However, I'm learning more about the territory as I explore. But it does help having someone give a tour." He chuckled, keeping a steady pace with Elsie.
