Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Rune liked to pride himself on being different; what was the point in blending in? In his eyes, you only had one life. Except for those who had eight more. But for the average cat who held no hope in being blessed by the star creatures others worshipped — he didn’t understand the need to believe in a ‘StarClan’, they had the gods who were loyal, dedicated and didn’t just appear to the lucky ones — they had one life to lead. Time would tick away. He wasn’t going to waste what time he had worrying about what others thought.
Which is why he sat by a random stream leading to a lake, mixing dirt and water to make mud and drawing designs on his white pelt. He liked being creative. It was a nice outlet. He leaned into a mud covered paw and sniffed. Definitely wasn’t top notch cologne though.
"What are you doing?" Came a small voice, belonging to none other than Rudania, a tiny podarok with a big spirit. She sat close to Rune, and it was a wonder as to why he hadn't noticed her there before; maybe it was because she was quiet when she wanted to be.
Rudania was truly a BrookClan feline. She was sweet yet fiesty, abrasive yet loyal. Sometimes, her sharp tongue got her in trouble, but did she care? No. In this case, perhaps she would, for she had never recognized Rune before. It was common for Rudania to escape from the podaroks' dwelling and go out on her own, in search of adventure to satiate the burn she felt deep within her heart. This was just another one of her adventures, but this time, she had decided to follow the tom she hadn't recognized.
The brown tabby she-kit awaited for Rune's reply, chocolate brown eyes boring into his mud-matted fur.
He looked over at her and blinked at her silently before booping her lightly in the nosevwith a muddy paw, spreading the dirt from his pelt to hers. “I’m creating a masterpiece. It’s called me. What do you think?” He lifted his chin with a grin to proudly display the designs on his pelt.
She giggled as Rune's paw came in contact with her nose, and instantly she could smell all of earth as it was wiped upon her. When he asked his question, she pondered for a moment, looking him up and down and studying his current disposition. He was a peculiar cat, that's for sure, but Rudania loved creativity; the possibilities were endless. "I think you look beautiful," Rudania chattered happily, her tail wagging out from behind her. "I want to be beautiful, too!" She sprung forward, her paws coming in contact with the muddy water. Sitting back on her haunches, she began to draw intricate designs all along her fur, her white underbelly, paws and face all becoming brown in color. "Whatcha think?" She asked, turning towards Rune to present her underbelly, which was full of swirls.
Puffing his chest in pride at her praise, he watched with eyes alight with amusement and mischief as she did the same to herself. He ‘hmm’ed in thought, mocking a serious expression, looking her up and down. “You’ve missed a spot. Right...” He poked her lightly in the tummy, making a circle of mud with his paw, “There!” He laughed.
She awaited his response, and upon seeing his serious expression, her blood grew cold. Oh no, oh no, She thought, what if he doesn't like it? But, before she could respond to his gaze, he began to speak and within an instant, he poked her in the middle of her belly. This caused a flurry of laughter to escape her vocals, and she doubled over, falling into the shallow part of the water. She laughed and laughed, shaking her fur once she stood up, water droplets flying everywhere. "You big meanie!" She joked, splashing water towards him.
He raised a paw to shield himself from the water, though a chuckle still slipped out. His loud laughter had died down to a comfortable smile that turned into a smirk and he nuzzled his paw into the top of her head. “You’re alright kid. I may just like you.”
Rudania beamed up at Rune, her face full of light and happiness. It had been a while since she had been able to openly express herself, especially to someone as high as a voiny; most adults just turned a blind eye towards Rudania and her antics. "I think I like you too, mister," She chittered back, stepping out of the water and back onto dry land. "What do you think my mama's gonna say about this?" She asked, suddenly worried about her appearance.
He shrugged, standing as well. He didn’t seem concerned. “That you snuck off or that you’re with me? I don’t know. There’s a reason I don’t have kids. Well, multiple, but.”

"Rudania. I have been looking everywhere for you! OH, you're covered in mud!"
Instead of questioning what her mother would think, she should have been worrying over Naboris' outspoken opinion on the matter. The tall poda met the gaze of her sister with her own fierce amber then brought it up to Rune. Letting out a sigh, she strode over and began to clean the mud off of Rudania's pelt. "What were you doing anyways? Did you also get Rune dirty?" It wasn't that Naboris was mean or not fun. In fact, she loved her siblings so fiercely that it often came off as that way. Her independent nature coupled with the feeling of responsibility to look after their little tribe made her a little overly cautious and sometimes rigid.
"Naboris!" Rudania cheered happily, standing up from her position and wagging her tail like a dog. As Naboris approached her, she beamed up at her sibling, who seemed worried as to why Rudania and Rune were covered in mud. "We were creating designs," She answered gleefully, showing Naboris the swirls on her underbelly. "Rune showed me how to do them! Aren't they beautiful?"
Rune observed the show unfolding in front of him with barely restrained annoyance; Rudania had been alright, she’d been open minded and carefree. This other one though... she was too stiff, too adult-like. He could barely handle the other adults in his life (never mind that he was one) and he didn’t need another reminder. He stood. “I believe our game is over.”

Rudania's carefree spirit definitely came from their mother, Tatri. That feline was always out and about adventuring and doing whatever wasn't productive, leaving Naboris in charge. Well, that's how she saw it at least. It probably came from a fear of losing control and losing the only purpose she had, but that was not something the poda was old enough to be aware of yet. "That's...interesting." Naboris responded, attempting to put on her best impressed face. Her eyes quickly shifted to Rune, wondering what got under his pelt. Wasn't he supposed to be all high and mighty anyways?
Unaware of the internal commentary flowing through the young podarok’s mind, the white tom nodded his head once, shook out his fur — causing droplets of water mixed with mud — to land chaotically around him and took another step forward only to stop. “Make sure your sister gets cleaned up and home safely.” He looked around them, gaze focused on the sky. “It’ll be dark soon. Won’t be safe for you lot.” He started on his path home, leaving his ominous message behind with the two she-kits.
As Rune shook the droplets that stuck to his pelt, Rudania took cover behind her sister, Naboris, laughing quietly as her sister got hit with mud and water. But, upon watching Rune walk away, she began to chase after him. "Wait!" She called out, nearly falling over her own paws as she caught up to him. "Where are you going?" She asked, curiosity dancing in the young podarok's eyes.
He turned, admittedly surprised the kitten had the gall to go after him. Again he was struck with a wave of fondness for the young one; he admired her spirit and only hoped it would remain intact through the Monarchy’s dark days. “Home. I have work to do. You two need to head that way as well once you’re cleaned up.” He shot an amused look at Naboris’ now muddy pelt.

Naboris jumped back as the mud hit her pelt. The expected response would be one of disgust, yet she smiled a little. She was more at ease once she realized he didn't seem to mind being dirty. Maybe he wasn't too bad? She had a tendency to think of judgements as someone's character shifted. It was a bad habit of hers, honestly. It was like a part of her wanted everyone to fit into a box of safe, playful, responsible, etc. Her box was one of independence, yet she felt so attached to her siblings. It was like she would be lost without them. The thought didn't quite make sense in her young mind. Her eyes drifted around them as he began to leave. What creatures were out there? "Uh... Would you mind if we walked with you?" She asked weakly, suddenly growing nervous.
"You're leaving?" Rudania suddenly whined, sad that her short play date with the boyar had come to an end. She looked back at her sister, glaring at her for she suspected it was her doing that drove him off; she was being nosy, afterall. Ears pinned against the back of her head, she wiggled her nose at her sister. A peculiar act, indeed. As soon as Naboris asked if they could walk with him, though, she perked back up and looked up at Rune, a large grin spreading across her features. "Please, oh, please, mister Rune?!" She said in a high-pitched voice, excitement overtaking her small form.
His gaze slid between the two and he rolled his shoulders. “I don’t see why not. Clean yourselves up first though. Quickly.” His eyes turned to the heavens. “We don’t want to be caught out here come nightfall.”

Naboris let out a sigh of relief as he agreed and beckoned to Rudania. "Let's get the mud off, then." She told her, feeling a bit hurt at her sister's glare. Unfortunately, she was a bit of a stick-in-the-mud compared to her excitable siblings. That fact had become evident when they were young. "Thank you, Boyar Rune." She meowed, turning her attention back to the Boyar.
