Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Smokecloud had overheard them talking and instantly felt heated but decided to stay out of it. He helped the expecting queen to the nursery. "Easy now" he soothed as he laid her down in a soft nest lined with feathers. "Okay, take some deep breaths and push. Take your time, though. We don't want you to hurt yourself." He explained as he placed his paw on her belly.
Maplenose instantly let her head fall against the nest, her nose wriggling as she sniffed the feathers that lined said nest. Another contraction ripped through her belly and sent shock down her legs, and she cried out, her claws unsheathing.

She laid there, her breaths soft and fluttery, her head craned as she nuzzled up to the small bundles of joy that were fighting for food. She laughed lightly at the black one, "She's a fighter," She purred. "Four girls. Four beautiful, precious girls. I can't believe it."
Smokecloud looked down at the squirming little bundles of fur. For once, a smile came across his lips and for the first time in his life, he wondered what it would be like to be a father. "They are beautiful, Maplenose. You did a fine job." He honestly felt bad that Skeletonkey didn't want anything to do with the kits. These kits would probably grow up not knowing who their father was. Smokecloud didn't usually take pity on anyone but this was different. Something about this particular litter caught his heart.
The black and white tom sighed as he stood and padded to the entrance of the nursery. Time to evaluate their worth. He stuck his head through with a bored expression. “Is it done?”
The tom clenched his jaw. His anger didn’t stem from the healer’s disrespect; rather, it was from sheer, utter disappointment. Girls. All of them. He had had hope he’d be given a male heir; a silver lining in this nightmare. Instead he was cursed. He tried to resist the sneer of disgust from his lips but it was hard. What was he to do now? Part of him wanted to leave and never come back. But how could he, knowing his blood was muddled with the lives of these four kits. They’d further tarnish his reputation. They had to go. Besides, he couldn’t leave Eternalstar. Not when things were getting so interesting.
Smokecloud didnt say another word but frustration built up inside him. In all of his life, he had never seen a father disapprove of his own kits. It was down right unnatural. He would even adopt these kits as his own if he had to. Or atleast treat them as such. However, he would rather not get in the middle of the couple's relationship. It wasnt his place. He was finished with his work and dipped his head in farewell to the queen and slipping out of the den, leaving the mated pair alone.
"... How interesting." Eternalstar thought as she moved away from the nursery and headed towards her den. Delighted by the hidden devotion Smokecloud already seemed to have towards Maplenose's kits. Perhaps he would comfort Maplenose through her mates harsh cruelty. Eternalstar turned a blind eye towards the habits of all her clan members, and if Smokecloud decided to have a dalliance with the queen. Well, beside getting some entertainment from it, she would never say anything.
"Can you at least pretend to be happy?" Maplenose sneered as she caught sight of Skeletonkey, immediately hissing out these words. She nuzzled the four she-kits and let out a sigh, removing her gaze from him and placing her attention onto the little bundles of fur before her. "Why me? Why did you ever choose me? You're pathetic, Skeletonkey. You're a deadbeat father."
He smiled gently, eyes dancing. “Your cruel words fall on young ears, dear Maplenose. Do you care so little for your children that you dishonor their father in front of them? Tsk, tsk. I expected better. Perhaps you weren’t born with that maternal instinct. Do you doom your children to a life of sadness, being devoid of a caring mother? Do you wish them that painful a fate?”
"Dishonor? DISHONOR?!" The she-cat bristled, but once her kits began to mew, she calmed down. "Don't talk to me about dishonor, Skeletonkey. You know nothing of honor or valor. All you know is hate. And I, for one, do not want my kits to be raised on the principle of hate. They deserve to be loved and cherished. I'm sorry your life didn't have a better outcome, but that doesn't mean you have to bestow it upon my kits."
Obsidiankit, sensing her mother’s distress and the tension in the air, wailed. It was making her itchy underneath her pelt.
“What are you going to do? Hmm?” He purred and slid the rest of the way into the den, drawing himself to his full height and filling the den. “Do you think you can fight me? Do you think you’ll win?” He chuckled. “One day you’ll grow up, Maplenose, and realize the world isn’t made of sunshine and rainbows. It’s dark, it’s dirty and your only friend is death.”
In an instant, Maplenose had removed herself from her kits and instead chose to stand above them, staring down Skeletonkey. The hairs on her back had raised and her ears had swiveled to the back of her cranium, and with a growl rumbling deep within her throat, she bared her teeth at him. "Stay away from them." She said, tail lashing out behind her. "And most importantly, stay away from me."
"You'd really keep my children from me? You'd deprive them of their father?" He smirked. "Fine." He took a step back, making a visual display that he gave in to her demands. "On one condition. When they're of age and no longer under your supervision, they will be given the right to seek me out should they wish it."
"They will know that their father was a monster who never loved their mother," She replied, "and then, if they wish, they can seek you out." She agreed with his demands.
He chuckled and turned. "Very well." He looked at her from over his shoulder. "Until we meet again, Maplenose. I look forward to it." He grinned and slipped out of the nursery.
– TIME SKIP TO WHEN THE KITS ARE 3 MOONS – [ everyone is free to play their kits now btw ]
Obsidiankit yawned and stretched in her shared nest, opening her green and gold eyes to the darkness of the den. She turned over and gazed upon the sleeping form of her mother, smiling and sitting up. She placed small paws upon her pelt and shoved gently. "Mummy," she whispered, grunting as she crawled on top of her. "Mummy, wake up."
Maplenose was sleeping soundly, small snores leaving the openings of her nostrils. She was dreaming of a perfect life, with her kits grown up and her, happy with a new mate, and even more kits on the way. It was a peaceful dream, one Maplenose hoped to achieve, and she knew she will - she just had to. Upon feeling her firstborn's paws upon her stomach, though, her brilliant amber eyes fluttered open and she lifted her head, gazing over at Obsidiankit. "Good morning, my angel," She purred, sitting up on her stomach and rasping her tongue over Obsidiankit's head. "Wake up, my little ones," She said, her voice hushed, as she began running her tongue over Topazkit, Amberkit and Quartzkit.
Amberkit yawned so big her face almost looked ripped in half. She sleepily rubbed her green eyes as she snuggled more into her mother. "Mmmm... But my dream was just up to the good part...." She mumbled in a small dreary voice.
Topazkit blinked open her amber eyes and let out a big yawn, revealing white pointed teeth. The tiny she-kit slowly rose to her paws and padded closer to her mother, snuggling up to her.
Smokecloud entered the den, a plump mouse dangled from his jaws. He set it down in front of Maplenose. "I thought you might be hungry." Each day he had been visiting the kits, watching them grow. "I also brought a feather" he mewed as he pawed a red feather toward the kits to play with.
A chitter in the form of a curious run rising an octave escaped Obsidiankit’s throat and her ears swiveled at the sound of the feather. Instantly she was using her mother’s body asa springboard, landing on the ground in a heap and attacking the feather with gusto.
