Spiritsanctuary frowned at the tree in front of her, blue-green eyes narrowed. Her day had been mediocre at best, until she had stumbled upon the feathers stuck to the tree. It looked like a bird had popped. But that couldn’t be right, could it?

Ravenstar could be found patrolling on her own that day when she came across one of her warriors staring rather meticulously at one of the trees... she glanced up to see the feathers. "Did it get away from you?" She asked with a chuckle.
She glanced over at the voice, smiling briefly at her leader before returning her attention to the case at hand. “No, no, I stumbled across these on my walk. There were more on the ground but the wind blew them away. It’s peculiar isn’t it?”

"It is..." she murmured quietly, sniffing around some of the feathers. "Do you smell anything odd? Other cats? Clans maybe?" She was definitely keeping her eye on those clans calling themselves the pride clans these days. They were always up to something peculiar these days.
Spiritsanctuary closed her eyes to focus on her senses and surroundings. Trees, water, wind, bird droppings... She lifted her chin. Cat. A familiar cat. She frowned and opened her eyes. No wonder she hadn’t noticed it before. It was completely out of the ordinary. “It’s one of ours. A young one.”

Ravenstar caught the same scent and chuckled. "That would be Ghostpaw. He is always getting himself in trouble or coming up with crazy ideas. I'll bet you he's not fair." She mused, sniffing again. The scent was fairly fresh too.
She hummed, glancing at the feathers. “Has he been dabbling in arts and crafts recently?” her tone was amused and she glanced at her. “Is it worth the hunt?”

"Honestly, I don't know what that boy is up to most of the time. He has his mother's spontaneous attitude and his father's knack for making himself scarce." She shook her head. She had watched Ghostpaw's parents grow up from the time they were still suckling until having their own kits and it made her feel rather old these days. "Shall we see what he's up to?"
She made a small ‘hmm’ and nodded. “In case he’s gotten himself into any trouble. Though I suggest we remain downwind; I’d rather not incur the his wrath.” She chuckled.

The sleek black leader let out a mrrow of amusement. "Yes, I'm sure him and his posse of apprentices would be quite the contenders." She replied, flicking her tail as she moved down wind to track him. She was always curious what the apprentices were up to, they seemed to be getting more and more rebellious these days.
She smiled and walked alongside the she-cat, following her nose while pondering the scenery they passed by. She glanced over at her, a thoughtful look on her face. “How have things been? I don’t think we’ve ever spent time together like this. It’s nice honestly. I don’t have many friends.” She blushed in embarrassment.

She smiled softly. "I've been quite well, thank you. Have have you been?" It was a half truth. Ever since her lives ceremony she was particularly on edge, Turtlestar had been so cruel as to give her a life of hardship and she could not tell even those she trusted the most. "It's a shame I don't get to spend more time with my clanmates. I am hoping to make it more of a priority." She admitted. Ravenstar believed that bonds between clanmates were very crucial and important.
“I’ve been okay. Lonely, but... it’s up to me to fix that.” She laughed slightly. She had sensed a darkness that overcame the she-cat but believing it wasn’t her place to comment she held her tongue. “I’m sure we all understand you have priorities.” She smiled reassuringly.

She watched spiritsanctuary for a moment before responding. "Are you naturally shy? I know many warriors who seem to feel lonely these days. It's a real shame." Ravenstar couldn't say much. She had felt rather lonely these days and had even been seeing a tom from Winterclan lately. It wasn't her proudest action but she had no regrets regarding it.
She ducked her head. “Yes, though it seems to be a curse anymore. I try to be more outgoing and engage others but... they don’t seem interested, almost tired of me despite us never having shared words before.”

"I think we are all tired these days after everything everyone has been through. We have not had a plentiful seasons for a while now and we are all tired of the could. Don't give up, someone here will be willing to accompany you if you continue to speak to others." She hoped maybe her words could offer some encouragement, but suspected her company would help more.
She gave a soft ‘hmm’ in acknowledgement but found her thoughts more distressed than was her companion’s intent. To distract herself she inhaled a deep breath, trying to take comfort in the warmth at her side. She could hear the crunching of the undergrowth under her paws, the wind through the trees... a high voice snapping at something indistinctly. She opened her eyes. “Is that-“ She took a couple of quick steps forward, peering around the corner.

It was, in fact, Ghostpaw. He currently was surrounded with various birds as he pulled their feathers out. It was quite the sight, an apprentice practically smeared in bird blood with piles of feathers and partially naked birds around him. He froze as he spotted Spiritsanctuary and Ravenstar and a magpie feather fell from his jaws. He realized what a strange sigh it was and jumped up. "I can explain!" He announced awkwardly.
"Please, do." Ravenstar wasn't really sure how to feel, or what kind of exmplanation he had to provide.
"I was practicing hunting birds and then I wanted feathers for mine and the other apprentices nests. I was going to bring the rest of them back." He felt a bit awkward between the two, mostly because there were so many birds and feathers everywhere.
Spiritsanctuary shifted uncomfortably. She had suspected but... to see it done in front of her. "Were you planning to make use of the bodies?" She tilted her head. "They'll spoil if you open them to disease before they're ready. It would be a waste of supply." She glanced at Ravenstar apologetically, ducking her head. It wasn't her place.

Ravenstar nodded in agreement with the warrior beside her. "She is right, do you have a use for the bodies?" After everything the clan went through with the prey sickness and now this mind sickness... cats were hesitant to eat any prey that looked different or messed with. Cats as young as Ghostpaw may not care or remember but Ravenstar lost many clanmates and even kits to the sickness.
"I... thought we could eat them. They are still edible... right?"
