Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Breezestep woke up alone and cold. Her heart stopped, then doubled in pace. Where are my kits? Nightmares flashed in the back of her mind as she scrambled to her paws, frantically searched the cold nest, then burst out into the camp yowling.
"My kits, they're---" she stopped suddenly as her pale green gaze fell on the pair playing not too far from the den. "they're.... they're going to be skinned and fed to dogs for leaving the den so early without telling me," she rumbled, but they flashed her grins and ignored the empty threat. Her grey-and-white hackles slowly fell as she tried to still her beating heart, shaking her head. Pondpaw had always stayed to cuddle with her, but he was promoted early, and the other kits had grown to an independent age. They didn't need her anymore.
(What was our plot with this again? I forgot. I know it's with Seablossom so I might tie in these new kits of Peanutblossom's with it but idk what we originally had planned)
Seablossom scrambled out of the den at the sound of the other queen. While, she herself did not actually have her own kits, she was rasing her late father's newest batch of little ones. She nearly ran teh otehr queen over in her hast to get out o fthe den. It took her a moment to process that it was a false alarm and that no kits were in actually missing. With a yawn, "morning."
Amberkit was nearly pushed out of the nest in his big sister's hast to get out of the nest. The kit glanced around, trying to decide if it was worth it to get up yet.
"Morning," she sighed, ears pinning back before she glanced over at the other she-cat with a soft smile. "I... apologize for the ruckus. I hope I didn't wake you?"
Once, she really would have cared about waking the other cat. But this was the deputy, so as far as she was concerned, she shared the responsibility for the decisions that had stolen away her kits. Let her have an early morning as a petty revenge. Breezestep shook out her fur and hardened her smile, though it looked no more genuine. "You must be tired from raising all of those kits."
"No, you're fine. I needed to get up soon anyway." Another yawn escaped her. Luckily enough, there weren't any duties requiring her attention this morning. She'd gotten a little ahead yesterday in hopes of having today off. And as luck would have it, she did. Seablossom nodded her head. "Yea, my father's kits aren't the easiest," though she spoke of more than the new ones. Ivorypaw was just as much a handful as the kits were.
She purred softly, wistful, but sympathetic. "Compared to others, I'm sure my litter has been frightfully mellow, but they are exhausting all the same." The two left with her were playful and rebellious but still listened when they were called, and for the most part, her little girls were sweet and untroubled; her sons had taken the brunt of her worry, but even sour Firepaw had not been much of a challenging kit to raise.
"I wish that was the case. Both litters have been a handful, both energy wise and just to handle. I wish them on no one." Seablossom could just imagine if any of her younger siblings had been raised by one of the other queens in the nursery. They'd torn their fur out foresure. Somedays, she wants too, but she hasn't yet. She powered through, day by day, even though she had to make the hard decisions. Both for the clan and her family. To be honest, she was surprised the she-cat was even speaking to her.
She murmured sympathetically. "And to raise them on your own... surely you must get offers to help? Having a father really does help the kits," she prodded. She was lucky that her issues with Creekghost had resolved themselves enough that the kits had their father as a strong figure in their life. She loved him with all her heart and he was always there for her.
"No.." Not at the moment at least. There was potential with Crownglass, but she wasn't sure what was even going on there. Especially lately, since they hadn't seen each other in months. A sad smile graced her face, "no, no one to help. My brother, Applecrisp has been trying with Ivorypaw, but that's..." Hasn't been going well lately. He was trying, but it wasn't like the tom was getting through to the apprentice any better than Seablossom was. "What about you? Has Creekghost been helping?"
She clicked her tongue lightly. "You really ought to find yourself a tom... or a she-cat. You must have a lot of stress, deputy on top of all these kits to look after, and you need someone to share your stress," she told her. Shifting, she allowed a warm smile. "Creekghost has been much better lately. He really helps keep me calm sometimes, when he isn't off being a fuzzbrain."
"Well, I..I suppose." Wasn't this queen just mad at her? Seablossom had assumed so when she'd first stepped out of the den. And well, for the last moon or so at that. It wasn't like it was news to the she-cat. The queen wasn't happy with her or Solsticestar, anyone could tell that. But now it seemed like Breezestep was being nice to her? Or was she imagining things? She tried a smile, "well, I hope it continues. I'm sure the help is great, even when he's being," what'd she say..foxbrained? No, maybe, "fuzzbrained?"
She chuckled. "It is. Besides, he's always a fuzzbrain, that's why I love him." It had been so many moons ago that they met, when she was just an apprentice; how time had passed since then. For moons they had merely met outside the borders, curled up together to watch the sky or chased rabbits over the plains, laughing and sharing news and enjoying each other's company, until finally he had come to live with her. They had their struggles, but she loved him all the more fiercely for having survived them.
Thinking about him she could not help but smile, and it was hard to be angry toward the she-cat while she was feeling happy, so she had given up trying. "He doesn't always know what he's doing, but he tries, and that's enough. It's better than no help," she added, arching a brow as she glanced back at her seriously.
"I guess." She was really confused now. Seablossom just didn't understand love at all. Sure she thought she was in love with Crownglass, but how did you know? Had her father really loved his flings? How did one know? It wasn't like she had a mother to tell her and her father hadn't been in the best place to take that role on. Could she?-no the queen didn't want to hear about her life. She hated Seablossom...right?
Breezestep watched her with a slightly arched brow. She knew it wasn't her business who the deputy took as a mate, but she was a little nosy by nature, and she was worried about the pressure being placed on her by being deputy and basically a single mother. "Just think about it," she urged. "Find someone nice and friendly that wouldn't mind lending you some support. Someone you could be happy with, even if you aren't head-over-tail in love."
Breezestep would know right?? Surely, she'd understand being a mother and all, especially with dealing with her own mate. "And..if I possibly found someone?" She was tentative to ask, not wanting anymore gossip about her family flying around but she didn't really have many cats to talk to. Seablossom didn't understand this feeling she got when Crownglass was near, but she also knew she didn't exactly have the time to try and figure it out. There were kits to raise, siblings to try and get to get-along, and a clan to help run. Did she even have a chance with a tom like Crownglass? One so far away and out of reach but distance-wise and physically? The tom was handsome and she was just plain Seablossom. Daughter of Peanutblossom and Sealife, sister to Ivorycrown, Applecrisp, and the new kits. Basically a mother and deputy all in one, and yet trying to do it all on her own.
(She reminds me a little of Tiana the disney princess with a I don't have time for love thing lol. The disney theme my cats have been taking lately)
The grey and white she-cat smiled in pleasant surprise. "Well then, you just have to talk to them. Or drop some hints and wait for them to come to you... but that wastes time, really, toms are so oblivious. You just walk up and talk to him, tell him straight out what you want, and see what he says. I doubt he'll say no, unless he already has a mate," Breezestep reassured her. She wondered who it could be that they hadn't made a move yet, and belatedly wondered if she'd read Seablossom wrong, and the deputy was merely not interested in toms and worried about clan perception of that. "Or she," she corrected herself, "if you found a nice she-cat to settle with, that's just fine as well."
"No a tom...but..." Would he really? She couldn't be like her father in the love department. It'd driven him mad. Her family was cursed when it came to cross clan lovers. They either died or left, leaving kits behind with one parent. Sitting down, eyes on the ground and ears low. No, she couldn't do it. Seablossom would just have to forget about him. Stop visiting their spot altogether.
(I can so see Breezestep grilling her, like nope tell me who and we'll make a plan for you to get your man lol)
