Frozenfire stalked along the MoonClan border. Since the Pride had taken over, Burningstar had sanctioned NightClan patrols every other night that would also go around MoonClan's territory. This served both to keep an eye on MoonClan and also reaffirm the Pride's control over MoonClan. Plus it avoided any non cat threats from deciding to cause any trouble. Frozenfire chuckled as she trotted along. Pausing when she scented some prey.
She turned her head to the source and her icy blue eyes lit up.
Slipping smoothly into a crouch the icy gray tabby stalked the mouse, before giving a great pounce, completing the catch.
"Haha perfect," FRozenfire purred satisfied with her accomplishment bending her head to pick it up looking around for a nice spot to eat it.
"Oh certainly!" Frozenfire purred pointedly sitting down and beginning to eat it. Noisily enjoying the prey as she took her time digging into it. "Mmmm, worked up quite an appetite patrolling our borders, have to make sure everythings secure." She said licking her lips before continuing to eat.
Primrosepaw watched from the shadows, the MoonClan apprentice trying her best not to jump out and cause a scene. The furs on her back lifted ever so slightly, her ears swiveling to pin against the back of her cranium to show her obvious annoyance. Ever since the Pride had taken over MoonClan, Primrosepaw had felt trapped. There had been so much death and sorrow, that she feared MoonClan might not even live another season.
Without a word, the molly exited the shadows, making her appearance known. She looked at Swiftstorm with a gaze full of grief, and then when her attention shifted over to Frozenfire, she let out a hiss, "That mouse would be a nice gift to offer the Queens of MoonClan, don't you think? They need it to keep the kits healthy and strong."
"Not my job to feed you." Frozenfire drawled chewing noisily as she took another bite. "Thats your job, if i caught this mouse at the edge of the border, means you're slacking." She said primly picking up the last bit of food tossing it up and catching it again in her mouth finishing it in the most over the top way possible. "Besides with us around, not like you have anything to be doing besides hunting."
"Haha, oh that's a laugh, Glowstar would've razed this place, if she didn't need it so much," Frozenfire said with a flick of her tail licking her paw and beginning to wash her muzzle completely unimpressed by Swiftstorm telling her to leave.
Primrosepaw allowed herself to be pushed behind Swiftstorm, though her venomous gaze remained on Frozenfire the entire time. When Frozenfire mocked Swiftstorm and proceeded to come across MoonClan's border, Swiftstorm had leapt into action, leaving Primrosepaw stunnned. She had never truly fought another feline before, unless it was training, especially a warrior; she watched in slight fear as she awaited Frozenfire's next move.
"Thats enough!" Came a yowl that echoed through the trees. Larkwing gripped Swiftstorm by the scruff and hauled him off of Frozenfire. "Nothing you do to Frozenfire is going to free you" he meowed sternly to the Moonclan cat. The Nightclan deputy didnt agree with what the Pride was doing but he didnt have the power needed to change any of it. All he could do was at least keep blood from spilling.
"I don't know, if you had let him claw out Frozenfires tongue perhaps she would be a little less annoying at times." Coyoteway laughed, as the long legged chausie tom padded onto the scene. Casting and amused glance towards Larkwing, always a tad amused by the deputies softness. "Burningstar might have let them go for the achievement alone." Golden gems looked towards the two moonclan cats and a wicked smile curved his features as he took a step forward. "Ah and look, Frozenfire frightened the young thing as well. You really should have let Swiftstorm deform her face Larkwing, if only a little."
Frozenfire had been knocked over by Swiftstorm's attack, however when he tried to pin her she twisted free from the attempt losing chunks of her fur in the process. She hissed and was about to lash out at Swiftstorm when Larkwing cut in.
She bristled, though her fur flattened a bit before fluffing up once more at Coyoteway's comment. She snorted. "Hmph, like a pathetic MoonClan cat would pull that off." She sneered at Swiftstorm and Primrosepaw. "Besides, I don't know why they're sitting around and whining to me about catching prey on the border when they've clearly got plenty of paws that could be catching their own prey for their supposedly starving queens." Frozenfire said with a scoff rolling her eyes.
In an instant, the MoonClan apprentice and fellow warrior were surrounded by cats from NightClan. Primrosepaw let out a hiss and she moved closer to Swiftstorm, her ears swiveling to pin against her cranium, her hackles rising with her rage. "How dare you!" The molly spat, glaring at the NightClan felines. One day, MoonClan will be stronger, and you will all be sorry. A promise she made to herself inside of her head. "Of course we can catch our own prey, but it is quite rude to come upon MoonClan territory, claim it as part of the 'Pride', and then proceed to hunt our prey and kill our warriors. It is sickening. StarClan bows their heads in shame!"
“Nah, StarClan’s laughing their tails off while you’re left clambering to that moon god or whatever,” Frozenfire said dismissively. “Besides, MoonClan is a Pride Colony now, you don’r Like it maybe you should ask the cat who decided to give in to Foxstar. It’s not rude, you’re ours, get used to it. The sooner you accept that we’re going to be here doing as we please, the happier you’ll be. If you all stopped whining and moaning over how the Pride beat you into submission and just hunted and fed yourselves you’d be fine. Besides, SunClan didn’t even take you onto their territory and take your kits, you should be thanking us for our generosity and mercy,” Frozenfire said with a scoff.
"On the topic of you being ours." Coyoteway started, casting a salacious grin towards Primrosepaw, "perhaps this means I can settle down with a pretty moonclan she-cat to raise my kits. Nightclan she-cats are just too bitter for my taste." He purred simply to get a rise out of her. She was a bit to young for his taste, but she was providing endless amusement with her outraged behavior, arguing morals. Casting a glance over to Frozenfire he smirked crookedly at her, sharing his amusement privately for a moment. He didn't bother to glance towards Larkwing knowing the deputy would be aghast by the implication, almost as bad as the moonclan apprentice with his morals.
Larkwing narrowed his eyes and Coyoteway but said nothing. Instead, he walked over to the Moonclan apprentice in a nonthreatening way as to not frighten her. He remembered what Fernshadow had mentioned to him on their border patrol. "Primrosepaw, dont think of it as a bad thing. Think of it as we are offering protection and care for Moonclan and in return, we can hunt on your land. We mark your borders for you so that more of you can hunt for your clan and by us marking the borders for you, we are keeping away rogues and other dangerous animals away." He hoped that would ease the apprentice's mind so that she wasnt so scared. Part of that was true so it wasnt like he was lying to her. He offered a warm smile in hopes to gain her trust. So what if he was soft? Was that always such a bad thing?

Swiftstorm gathered himself together and swiftly went to stand by Primrosepaw once more, after Coyoteway's sleazy comments about the apprentice.
He hadn't met Larkwing before, but by the sound of it, he seemed like the most level-headed cat here. "I apologize Larkwing." He gave icy looks to the other two cats. "Your warriors on the other paw are taking all the prey that we have. What prey we have left goes to our kits, queens, and our elder. It's bad enough DayClan takes our prey as we sleep."
It was true, his clan had been slowly wasting away, of course, Sightline and Emberburn were looking better, but that was a mystery for another time.
Larkwing met Swiftstorm's gaze. "I understand" Larkwing really did feel bad for Moonclan and wanted to help. "I cant speak for the other clans but I, personally, will not hunt on Moonclan territory." He will keep that promise even if he gets in trouble for it.
The Moon God. Primrosepaw didn't know much about the Moon God, having only joined MoonClan recently. She was merely an apprentice, and the idea that a 'God' was slumbering in their territory was quite drastic. Primrosepaw bowed her head slightly and kept her mouth shut, having nothing to say to Frozenfire. Hatred burned deeply within her heart, and she wanted nothing more than to lunge at the molly and dig her claws into her flesh, but she knew better. She would never be able to win against a full-fledged warrior.
Upon hearing Coyoteway's comments about having to find a 'pretty MoonClan she-cat', a soft 'eek!' was exhaled from her lips and she pressed her side firmly against Swiftstorm's. She suddenly felt small compared to the rest of the felines, and the gravity of the situation finally began to weigh inside of Primrosepaw's mind. The brown tabby had come to realize that no, there was no way out of this for now, but once MoonClan grew stronger, maybe they had a fighting chance.
"Thank you, mister..." Primrosepaw dipped her head towards Larkwing, not knowing his name, or anyone else's for that matter. All she knew was Swiftstorm, and in complete honesty, that's all she wanted to know in this moment.
