Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Winterpaw nodded in agreement; that was what made the outdoors so nice: being away from the chaos of the clan. as i write that sentence i realize they're always outdoors but its fine At one point, Winterpaw had been afraid herself to exit the camp by alone or even with her siblings, but in the last few moons, it had been her only source of sollace. "Once we get to the border," she meowed to her sister, "and cross it, then we'll really be free of that." There was a wistfulness in her voice; did that suggest Winterpaw wanted to be free of the clan altogether?
Springpaw gave her sister a glance, before exhaling briefly and continuing onward. "You know, if for whatever reason someone didn't want to....be in BrookClan anymore, I suppose this would be the ideal time to make a break for it," she said, letting her words hang in the air, "while the Clan is so upside-down that barely anyone knows who's even alive or dead."
"You trying to suggest something?" she meowed, looking a little bit concerned. Was she having some second thoughts about being in the group? She kind of didn't blame her, but did that mean that the two should divert?
Springpaw huffed, smirking. "Yes," she answered simply, willing to let Winterpaw expand on that herself if she wanted to. "I mean, yeah, but I'm not gonna go off on my own and ditch the Clan just yet. Not on my own, at least."
Winterpaw and Springpaw were the only two left of the litter, and she really couldn't imagine her life without the lazy dolt. "Where would we go?" she meowed, managing to insert herself with her sister as a united we. "If not here, then where?" And what about Smallfire and the rest of them, she almost asked, not quite making eye contact.
Springpaw shrugged. "That depends," she replied, "on where you would want to go." She paused for a few seconds. "I hear some of the Clans are in situations similar to ours...Maybe not quite as bad, but in a bad state nonetheless. And honestly, I've been thinking I'm not really cut out for Clan life recently anyway..."
Concern laced her eyes. She'd do it because she needed her sister. But, did this mean she was going to become a rogue? Was she cut out for that life? She wasn't sure, but she was pretty sure she wasn't. "Well, if the clan life isn't for you...." Her tail flicked. "Like does that mean we'll be loners?"
Springpaw cocked her head. "Well, I guess we would be loners," she replied, seemingly deep in thought. "But we wouldn't be loners, y'know. We'd have each other. Still," she added, "I won't go anywhere if you don't want to. I'm basically just a lost puppy, following you around," she said with a lopsided grin.
"I worry about Ma a bit," she admitted, looking at her paws as they walked. "We'd have to at least sort of tell her goodbye if we left. I'm okay if we leave after that, I guess," she meowed with an unsteady nod. Was there any reason she wouldn't be okay with this? Their large extended family was one reaason, but at the same time, getting out now meant getting away from her demons, getting a second chance. That couldn't be bad, right? "Sorta-loners-but-not-rogues-because-uh-they-are-mean. That's what we'll be. Me and my dumb lost puppy." She reached over to give her sister a lick on the shoulder.
Springpaw gave a small bark of laughter. "Glad to see we agree on that," she murmured, giving a shallow exhale. "I agree with you about Smallfire, too. It'd be...unfair to her, if we packed up 'n left without even telling her goodbye, maybe even giving her a little thank-you present. At the same time, it's probably for the best that we at sorta quickly, if we're serious about all this."
She flicked her tail, not entirely sure that she really believed what she had just agreed to. Winterpaw, the she-cat who so grounded herself in order, now was about to send herself in the exact opposite direction of order. She was going to regret this, she was absolutely sure, but how could Winter exist without Spring? "Maybe we should go tell her now and then go?" she mewed. This wasn't the best solution, but she didn't know what else they could do. "Or, should we sleep on it?"
