Crimsonkit took off running as fast as he could. There was a favorite bush he liked hiding under near the camp wall behind the elder's den. He crawled under and moved as far back as he could. There was a tiny hole in the leaves that allowed him to be able to spy out into the camp, something he did often when playing here.
"Sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty!" Finishing her count, Sunpaw sat up and glanced around. It seemed they had managed to hide from sight, but it remained to be seen if her other senses could pick them up. She closed her eyes and scented carefully, pricking her ears for any unusual movement.

Crimsonkit held his breath when he saw Sunpaw look his way. Knowing he would be very difficult to spot, only his eyes were visible, he held still just the same. He was safe here!
Again, she scented, struggling to pick apart her playmates' scents from the many others. Crimsonkit's was the first scent she managed to separate. Slowly, she meandered over near the elders' den, glancing about.

Crimsonkit held his breath not even daring to move a muscle when he saw Sunpaw get closer to his hiding spot. Aw, come on, he thought. Go look for Lionesspaw.
Cautiously, she peered into the elders' den, but saw nothing that would warrant angering its occupants. With a sigh, she moved on, whiskers twitching with irritation. She scented again. Crimsonkit was nearby, she was sure of it, so why couldn't she find him. She swept her gaze about, deciding to move on to the process of elimination.

In a flash, Crimsonkit dove out of the bush and ran as fast as he could to the place near the medicine den where Sunpaw had done her counting. "Can't catch me!" he yowled. He knew he had to reach the place before Sunpaw could catch him so he wouldn't be 'it'.
Sunpaw was not particularly strong, but she had long legs compared to most cats and was glad to put them to use. She leaped after the kit, letting her strides lengthen as she went. "I'm coming to get you!" She called in a goofy voice.

Crimsonkit was fast for a kit but not as quick as an apprentice. He ran as fast as his paws would let him, laughing at Sunpaw's comical reply. He glanced over his shoulder to see how far ahead he was and missed seeing a small twig in his path. Unfortunately for him his feet didn't miss the twig. It tangled up in his paws sending him crashing to the ground. "FOX DUNG!" he yowled as he spat out dirt from his mouth.

Sunpaw managed to keep herself from flying into the kit and instead managed to come to a fairly graceful stop by his side. "First of all, are you alright? That was a nasty fall."
I stayed where I was knowing that Sunpaw would soon be after me, as I heard Crimsonkit tease her, into trying to catch him. I stifled a laugh at his antics. I crept through the grass closer to the entrance, but remained hidden in the grass.

"I'm alright," Crimsonkit mewed, still spitting out dirt. "I woulda beat you to the spot if it wasn't for that mouse-brained stick!" He gave the offending twig a swat with his front paw and it went sailing for a few tail lengths before it fell to the ground again.
"Perhaps so, but secondly, you may want to watch your language. What would your mother have said?" Sunpaw asked, an edge of sternness in her otherwise gentle voice.
Whiskers twitching with amusement, Sunpaw rested her tail on his shoulder. "I'm glad you're okay." she mewed, blue eyes gentle. "Now, to find Lionesspaw..." She glanced about, eyes narrowed.

I smiled and kept myself hidden within the grass, keeping myself as low as I could.
