Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
(This thread is where Burningstar's secret kits are born. Burningstar is out with her sister Soaringbird when her kits start coming so Soaringbird is forced to grab the medicine cat apprentices to help her with the delivery. And they're sworn to secrecy as a result)
Soaringbird wasn't able to run as fast as she would've prefered, as she had to also be stealthy. In her head she cursed her mousebrained sister as she made her way from the cave she'd been forced to leave her practically kitting sister so she could get the two young medicine cat apprentices.
She doubted Brightpaw and Turbulentpaw would be much help, but they were the only healers in the clan, perhaps StarClan could guide their paws or something to make this all come out okay.
She breathed out a sigh of relief when she spotted the two young cats, alone doing something that likely related to medicine cat things she assumed. Whatever they were alone, and they were in front of her.
"Turbulentpaw! Brightpaw!" She hissed. "Burningstar needs you immediately!" She skidded to a halt just behind the two young cats.
"Whatever you need to help a mother kit," Soaringbird said. "You have an idea how to help with that right?" She asked suddenly, then she waved her tail. "Look grab whatever herbs will help, and we need to move. This is an emergency, and don't tell anyone either. This is a highly confidential emergency that can have grave consequences if it gets out. So you need to keep it quiet."
Soaringbird's tail lashed impatiently. "Turbulentpaw, you go grab what Brightpaw just said, then follow our scent trail back, Burningstar needs at least one cat with her when the kitting starts... and she wants me to fetch..." She trailed off her blue eyes narrowed as she turned her head seemingly in the direction of camp, but her head focus was on the clan that lay south of them. Where the real father of Burningstar's kits lived. "So i need to get you to her, before I go grab who I need to grab, so come on, hurry."

Turbulentpaw nodded in agreement, he also wanted to grab a few more things while he was in the den that they shared "Go on ahead, I can carry more than you" he replied motioning for Brightpaw to go on. He hadn't even known that she was pregnant... How could he have missed that? He ran into the den, getting togather the herbs that the pair might need and placing them into a bundle. He hadn't ever seen a birthing before, but their mentors had talked them through the basics. He could only hope that there were no complications, he wasn't sure that he and Brightpaw were equipped with the knowledge that they needed for that yet. <Cobwebs, raspberry leafs, borage, poppy seeds...> he tried to figure out what else they would need, and stuffed a few other things into the bundle before taking off, following the scent of Brightpaw the best that he could. He hadn't had a lot of practice following scents.
Soaringbird quickly led Brightpaw through the territory, heading towards the MoonClan border. When they came to the edge of their territory, Soaringbird crossed without hesitation, heading towards a large tree. "She's over here." She told Brightpaw, heading around the tree, revealing that a long abandoned old badger set was by the base of that tree. And lying in that old set was Burningstar, the ginger she cat lifting her head weakly.
"Brightpaw, good." Burningstar said flanks heaving. "Is Turbulentpaw coming or...?" She glanced at Soaringbird.
"I'll make sure he's heading in the right direction, but Brightpaw's here to help. And after I direct Turbulentpaw... I'll grab the father," Soaringbird muttered curling her lip in displeasure.
Burningstar chuckled weakly. "I know you don't approve but, thank you Soaringbird, I appreciate it."

Turbulentpaw followed the scent the best he could, keeping his thin paws moving swiftly. The scent was muddled with that of his other clan-mates who had also traveled the same path, and the herbs that he carried made it even more difficult for him to pick up on the correct scent. Still he had to hurry, his leader was waiting on him.

Brightpaw moved towards Burningstar. "How are you doing?" She asked quietly. She was nervous about asking questions last she got a sharp reply from her leader.
She felt her swollen belly and felt small movements within. "Once you start knitting, there's a nice thick stick for you to bite on. It helps." She counted the small kits that were inside, checking how many there were. One. Two. Three. Four? She guessed. She hoped she was right.
"I think there are four kits, but I'm not 100% sure." She told Burningstar. She looked down at her belly. She had questions, so she decided to ask a small but important one. "What's going to happen to the kits after? What will Bonforekit and Ironkit say?"
Soaringbird trotted over to Turbulentpaw, “Turbulentpaw, there you are, Burningstar’s that way,” she gestured in the direction of the tree Burningstar was hiding by. “I have to go fetch the father... but take care of her as best you can,” she said before hurrying off past him onto MoonClan territory.
“Four kits? That’s not too bad,” Burningstar mused, wincing as a contraction hit. “As for Bonfirekit and ironkit and the others, i’ll Return to them once I’ve recovered and these kits are with their father...” she murmured.
Devilhorns spent many evening near the MoonClan-NightClan border. His son thought it was longing for his old home, but Grandsky didn't know the half of it. How the tom wished to be by Burningstar's side at this moment, to know when exactly the kits were born, to be there when it happened. All he could do was wait, day in and day out.
A silver and gray tabby she cat came up to him. "Oh good you made this easy on me," Soaringbird noted. "Burningstar's kitting," she said, "She sent me to fetch you."
Devilhorns hadn't met Soaringbird before but he figured this was the cat that Burningstar had said would come to find him when it was time. Rushing to his paws, "are they alright? How's Burningstar?" He was worried, both for the kits and his lover. Were the kits here yet? Would he be there for their birth or after they were here? What would their names be?
“Burningstar’s fine, the medicine cats are with her to help her through it,” Soaringbird said a bit stiffly. She really wished her sister would kindly stop needlessly making their lives complicated. But she beckoned for Devilhorns to follow as she led the way along the Night and Moon border until the borders ended and she padded towards a large tree.
Soaringbird came around the tree, “I brought him, Turbulentpaw and Brightpaw, I want you to understand you cannot tell anyone in the clan about this.” The silver and white tabby warned the pair of young cats, before beckoning Devilhorns over.
Burningstar groaned, “I was hoping they’d be here before he arrived,” she muttered, “But it’s all right.” She said with a sigh. “But oh well, Devilhorns? You can come closer, the kits will be here soon.”

Brightpaw nodded solemnly to Soaringbird. She pressed down on Burningstar's belly to feel for the contractions as Bruniaberry had once taught them.
"Ok, Burningstar, it seems like the next contraction is going to give us a kit. When that happens, push! Turbulentpaw will grab them and I'll get them to breathe." She informed the panting she-cat.
Brightpaw looked over warily at the MoonClan cat before slowly coming to the realization. "Oh my Starclan! Turbulentpaw! He's the father!" She whispered in shock to her Clanmate. Of all cats, Burningstar was the one to have an outsider's kits. WHat about her mate? Brightpaw's head whirled.
Devilhorns ignored them all as he moved toward Burningstar's head. He whispered sweet nothings to the birthing mother. If he could he'd take the pain and misfortune all upon himself that this kitting would cause. He only hoped that things would turn out just as Buningstar wanted. "Just breathe, darling."
Burningstar just looked at him with slitted eyes. "I am, can't really not. Since I don't feel like dying." She grumbled, gritting her teeth as another contraction rippled through her. The she cat starting to pant heavily, her forepaws digging into the ground. "Why is it taking so long!" She ground out, twisting her head to check her belly. "is there something wrong-agh!" She hissed jerking her head back in pain as the first kit finally began to emerge.
After some straining and barely repressed hisses from the dark ginger she cat, a small bundle slipped out beside it's mother.

Turbulentpaw quickly grabbed the slick bundle and broke the sack. His lip upturning at the taste, being the first time he had ever done this. He had only the basics from what his mentors had been telling him about how to help a queen in labor. He cleared the young kits face, and began stimulating it to make it cry. He was a little rough, but that was what he had been told to do. Their words echoing in his ears 'a quiet kit is a dead kit'. He was starting to worry, but then the little kit began to cry out in protest and he smiled. "This one looks healthy" he told her calmly as he finished cleaning the kit and placing it at Burningstar's side.
Burningstar looked down at the kit who was a dark black and gray tabby. The kit squirmed close to Burningstar and Burningstar let out a weak purr. "She's beautiful." She whispered. Which was all she was able to get out before pain rippled through her and she let out another hiss as the contractions picked up once more, before soon another bundle wound up beside her.
Soaringbird, now seeing how Turbulentpaw had done it. Bit open the sack and began to work to stimulate the kits, breathing as Burningstar's breathing hitched, the leader panting hard as another bundle landed on the ground beside her.
"Just one more," Soaringbird assured her sister, Burningstar groaning softly resting her head on the ground for a moment before picking it back up the ginger she cat shuddering with the pain and stress of labor.

Turbulent paw nodded to Soaringbird, only hoping that he was teaching her the right way of doing this. He had only ever been told about what actions to take, and had never done them himself. It seemed to be working though, as one kit after another began to cry out loudly under their attentions. At least he knew their air ways were clean "your almost done" he purred. "Once the last kit emerges we can give you something to help ease the pain" he remembered the warning against giving a laboring mother in pain any sort of herb that would reduce it. Herbs for pain would make it more difficult for them to push, and increase the time that the kits would spend inside the birth canal. it would also risk the kits being affected by the herbs, and they needed to be awake enough to nurse immediately.
