Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The apprentice nodded at her words, then realized she obviously couldn't see his affirmation and felt embarrassment heat his cheeks. With a slight shake of his head he instead gave a sort of grunt of agreement through the prey he carried. The tom was always a bit too awkward for his own good.
Nevertheless, Pinepaw was ecstatic that he was having the chance to really get a feel for the territory - and with the deputy no less. It was also nice to get to know one of his clanmates a little better, no matter how awkward the tom may be.
Breezestep led him onward in silence, letting her mind drift elsewhere. She had many duties to attend to eventually, and she was sure that Heavystar had his own ideas to share with her during their next meeting. Eventually there was a lot they needed to get done, including scoping out their next camp, but they had only recently arrived here and she had no desire to worry about the distant future just yet.
She was just searching of something new to say to the apprentice when she inhaled deeply and then paused, her posture straightening as a thrill raced through her. Breezestep broke away from their path and veered through the trees to find a vertical creeping vine woven through a yellow-and-white flowering bush. She leaned in close to take a deep breath of the sweet scent.
"Have you seen this plant before?" she asked Pinepaw, not turning away from the bush; instead, she closed her eyes, letting the heavenly scent pour over her. "This is honeysuckle."
Pinepaw followed as she veered in a new direction, curious as to what had brought it on. As the drew close he dropped his prey and inhaled deeply himself, letting the sweet scent waft around him as fuzzy nostalgia rubbed around in his head. "Hmm.." He started with eyes half closed, "The scent is so familiar. I recognize it but never knew the name. I've always loved the scent."
The apprentice had a large appreciation for flowers and plants, especially sweet smelling ones. A perfect pitstop. He thought to himself, carefully brushing his fur against the flowers in an attempt to trap the scent on himself.
A quiet, unconscious purr was rumbling in the deputy's throat, the sweet scent bringing back even sweeter memories. "Beck-- my mate-- and I used to lay beneath these bushes all day long. Breathing in the air; just laughing and talking about life. I thought all the bushes would have been destroyed in the flood." She wondered if this one was newly grown or had survived, and decided she didn't care. It was just nice to be here.
Pinepaw found himself smiling himself at her reverie, but kept himself from asking anymore intrusive questions. He supposed he'd probed her past enough for one day. "That sounds nice. Having sweet spots like this and close friends to enjoy them with - it's the substance of life.." He thought back to a recent memory he had made with another apprentice, Feverpaw, and his own slight purr made its way to the surface. He pushed such thoughts away, feeling a bit embarrassed that he felt such a soft spot so suddenly for one he hardly knew.
Breezestep nodded, too keen on her own memories to notice anything amiss with the apprentice. She basked in the scent of the bush a few moments longer, feeling more relaxed and at peace already. Then, briskly, she shook herself.
"We should continue on, when you're ready," she told him, taking a step away from the plant and glancing back at Pinepaw.
