Ezekiel was intrigued rather than disgusted by the barbarism he often talked of with the other city cats, about the cannibal cats who seemed to dwell in the forest. "Torture you? I always thought cats in the forest have their own code or something, don't they? What if you don't have any information?" He seemed almost excited by the thought of it all. What a strange cat.

"Cats of the clans do." She responded, blinking at him with her green eyes. "The league is different. Much different." she paused. "Sometimes they don't care."

"Really?" he mused, "you know, I think I've met a few of them back in the day; they used to live in the city right? They didn't seem that scary from afar you know; do you get to train a lot? Fight a lot or something? It must be rough out there, no?"

Her ears flicked slightly. "Perhaps you met the softer cats." There were a few of those in the league, ones that had no backbone. Her eyes narrowed. "What is it you think of me, city cat?"

He shrugged. "Maybe," he replied with a chuckle,"the last one I met seemed a little bit like you, new to the whole world, a little lost, a little bit of that wide-eyed wonder...she was really curious about everything more than hostile actually, but I knew there was a side to her that was feral you know? You can see it in the eyes."
He gave her a look over. "Hmm...my first impression of you huh?" he hummed a little to himself before replying, "well I suppose you're young too, but you certainly have a lot of...what do they call it, gumption? You seem like you have something you need to prove, either to me or to someone else. I'm just curious to what that might be."

My worth. It came to her mind immediately. She was determined to make herself useful for the league. Kate had been named after such an important cat of the past, she felt it only right. Harley hadn't named her after his mother for no reason. At least, that's what she thought anyways. "Well." She mewed with the slightest of shrugs. "Perhaps."

"Oh come on," he teased, "haven't you been mysterious enough? At least tell me whether I got it right. It's a compliment really, and I'm not one of your friends from back home who will stab your back or whatever."

He was right. What could this cat do to hurt her? "I was named after my grandmother. Once a nemesis and shaman of my group. It's a lot to live up to. I feel like... I have to make something of myself." She admitted, something she'd never said to another cat. Ever.

His expression seemed to reflect an understanding. "Oh that sounds like a lot of pressure," he agreed, despite not knowing what that meant to her, only gauging that it was some important role or something back home, "you know, a lot of cats feel pressure to live up to something else and they end up buckling under all of that pressure...it's pretty rough from where I'm standing, watching cats crumble under the weight of expectations of everyone around them; you seem to be holding up well, no? I'm sure your family is proud, no?"

Kate rolled her eyes, managing a shrug in the process. "Nothing will ever bring me down. You can count on that." She responded, with a flick of her stubby little tail. Her eyes burning with a fire, one that simply would not, nor could not, be extinguished.

He chuckled, though not one out of teasing or malicious intent, rather one of agreement. "You certainly seem different than the others, I can tell you that," he purred. Of course, it was impossible to tell whether he meant it or not; Edom was a smooth talker, the kind who woo'ed cats by telling them what they wanted to hear.
"We're here at our first stop; here's the church," he gestured to the building with the spiral roof, a grand piece of architecture that made everything else look dull in comparison. It was a true cathedral, one that looked as if it was from a movie, "have you been inside a building before?" He paused for a moment. "Even if you have, the inside of here will probably make everything else look dull in comparison."
Kate raised a brow at the tom, but simply chose not to respond this time around. The feline followed after him until he came to an old looking twoleg building. Her ears wiggled curiously as she peered toward it, then mewed,"Well, let's go inside then." It meant she'd never been in there, and was obviously rather curious of it.

Inside the church, the ceilings seemed as vast as the exterior, its gothic architecture creating arches that reached far above, pillars chiseled and engraved with ornate depictions of leaves and patterns, light streaming through stained glass windows in a dapple of different colours. "What do you think?" he offered her a dazzling smile, "anything you've seen before?"

Her large eyes took in the sight with wonder. She had her mouth slightly open, and her head was turning as she took in the colors and intricate patterns. "Wow.." It definitely looked different once one was inside.

Edom chuckled. "Humans pray to their gods here," he spoke like a true guide, "they sing their songs and perform their ceremonies; I heard that wildcats in the forest do something similar. How strange, to be so tied to some mere story of a god that exists on a separate plane...do you believe in gods, Kate?"

Her brows furrowed at the concept. It took her a moment but finally she shook her head. "I don't. Perhaps simply because I've never known of them. Plus, it sounds a bit silly anyways, doesn't it?" She mused, head tilting to the side.

He chuckled. "It does," he mused, "I've always been curious, what drives a cat to believe in something sight unseen and put their whole being into it too. I'm not religious myself either, just a curious cat I suppose. I've always heard the forest cats have their own types of religions; it's unusual to meet one who doesn't believe in anything, no?"
He continued to walk, gesturing for Kate to follow. "So what do you believe in if not gods?"

This made her gears in her head turn. What did she believe in? Well, she had simply wanted more in life. More... power. More... of everything. She wanted to feel in charge, to be large. It was a bit of a question she found almost difficult to answer. Her mouth opened, but nothing came out. It was then she realized, she really did not know how to answer such a thing. "I... I don't know."
