Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
A cold wind blew through the cenote; luckily for the hiding tom, it came in from her backside, leaving him hidden. If she hadn't been so fantastical that night, she might have been able to count the shadows, realize that the number was off. But, she was on a mission, a mission to show NightClan what happened when you stepped out of line. At one point, NightClan residency had been enough to avoid her desire to watch the world burn; not after tonight. Tonight sparked another metamorphosis for the leader, one in which no cat was safe.
As soon as Stormreign was within her grasp, the leader leapt down, closing the distance between the two. "Well, if it isn't tonight's star," she purred, leaning in just a little too closely to not be unnerving. She pulled away with a sigh. "It seems that even as you wait, you still haven't learned a lesson. I thought our time in the prison together would have changed that." She rammed her shoulder into him, watching as he fell to the dirt. The grin on her face twisted even larger. "I'm almost relieved, though, that you walk in with that look on your face. It will make this so much more entertaining," she murmured, before letting her claws slash at the side he hadn't fallen on. It wasn't a deep cut, no she was going to enjoy the slow destruction of the tom in front of everyone, but the small bead of blood was enough to send a chill down her spine. Gods, she could hardly contain herself.
Before she got too... into it, before she found herself too far into the fight to keep any decency, the leader took three pawsteps forward. She stared down at him, unblinking, almost unhuman. "As much as I can't wait to get on to this, I really can't," her tail tip twitched in anticipation, "I suppose for the sake of saving face I'll allow you one final plea." She let out a sigh, before letting her voice rise.
"The prisoner is on trial for the failure of NightClan's succession in SummerClan. His ineptitude and pride lost us a battle we never should have lost. Not only that, though, but he has led to the deaths of several clanmates in the fray. When he was relinquished of his position for his absolute failure, he elected to do the unthinkable: he murdered the NightClan leader." She was leaving an important part out, but her clan mate's didn't need to know that, not yet. "For that, the only equalizer, the only repayment for his sins is death." By the end of her tyrade, her voice had lowered into a hiss.
"Have you any last words, Stormreign?" As she asked, the leader slammed her foot again into his side, a sharp kick that landed almost exactly where she had nicked him with her claws. "Or shall I commence with justice?"
Stormstar grunted as he hit the ground, and even grinding his back teeth didn’t silence his yip as she kicked him in the side.
“Some trial,” he murmured; coughed, started again. He pushed himself up into a sitting position and stared over the crowd, schooling his expression, doing the best he could to look pitying and unamused, a king dealing with a tyrant, not a scared little kid.
“Every NightClan warrior in SummerClan knows the truth,” Stormstar replied simply. “This isn’t justice. Your warriors know, and they’ll topple you too. But now for,” he yawned forcibly, “go ahead and make me a martyr. The clans will scream my name.”
A commanding voice raised up as if on ever spread wings as it soared over the assembled cats. A black paw stepped out to face the assembled crowd, then another. A muscular form shrouded in wisps of shadowed fur, small kisses of starlight scattered upon his cheeks. A few cats might recognize him from previous gatherings, but to most of NightClan the cat standing before them was a complete stranger. There was a cloud of anger smoldering behind his deep blue gaze.
He didn't speak another word, instead stalking straight towards Aspenstar and Stormreign, daring any of them to remain in his path. Those that did so, would soon find themselves writhing around on the ground in an immense amount of pain. He focused his attention in on Aspenstar, and stopping her from completing the execution.
[He is an elemental. Those of you that choose to attack will be subjected to pain that he inflict, but not suffer any last physical damage. His ability allows him to cause pain to others, by causing their nerves to send pain signal to their brain even though they have not suffered any wounds. He is going to be stopped, but for plot reasons he does need to reach Aspenstar and Stormreign. Those affected will recover rather quickly afterwards, just incapacitated temporarily]
Despite everything, Dawnbringer had still managed to stay quiet. One wrong word, and he knew that Aspenstar would punish him. Perhaps even for any word. This entire situation just didn't sit right with him, but he was absolutely powerless. All that Dawnbringer could ever do was stay silent and not argue anything, especially if he wanted to stay alive, even if it went against his morals. It was subtle, but the tips of the Loyal Guard's claws were digging into the dirt.
And then a second stranger appeared.
Dawnbringer silently let out a breath that he didn't know he had been holding, his vibrant gaze locked onto the new figure. "This is an eventful day," he muttered, his voice just below a whisper so that only those standing next to him would be able to hear.
