Lupinepaw glanced at Pantherpaw and then back down at the kits as Crimsonkit slipped and crashed into Mudkit. "Careful! Just walk or you'll get us all in trouble." Pantherpaw was probably right, they could get caught or worse if there was a lot of noise and playing. He wasn't so sure he would be able to protect so many kits if something happened.
"Awwww," Ghostkit pouted, rebelliously jumping forward into the next track of paw prints before looking back up at the apprentices as if daring them to tell him to stop playing.

"We're just havin' fun," Crimsonkit mumbled as he got back to his feet. "What's wrong about that?"
"Nothing's wrong about it unless you want to get eaten by a fox or a badger," Pantherpaw meowed. "Now everyone be walk quietly and listen to Lupinepaw and me or we'll take you right back to camp. Understand?"
Crimsonkit's crash landing sent Mudkit falling sideways into a rather large pile of snow, sending fluffy flakes flying into the air from the impact. "I'm okay!" she chirped, her voice slightly muffled from being so deep in the snow. It took a bit of effort on the kit's part to climb back out, but eventually she managed to flop back on solid ground next to Ghostkit, just in time to hear Pantherpaw's warning. "Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine," she sighed dramatically, shaking the snowfalkes off of her head. "Sorry, Pantherpaw. Sorry, Lupinepaw." As much fun as jumping around was, getting to the lake was her number one goal.

Lupinepaw was slightly surprised by the sternness in Pantherpaw's voice. She was way better at this than he was. Something about her already seemed warrior like and he admired that. The two apprentices were similar in age but she seemed much more mature than him.
Ghostkit giggled again as Crimsonkit resurfaced covering in little snowflakes. "Hey, do you think that if I'm covered with enough little snowflakes that I'll become one big snowflake?" The silver tabby wondered aloud, taking a small paw and swiping at the snow in front of him with a squeal.

"Yeah! Just like Mudkit," Crimsonkit told Ghostkit, with a laugh. "She had more snow on her than all of us combined." He looked over at the she kit and made a face.
Pantherpaw looked over at Lupinepaw as they walked side by side. "We're almost to the lake," she meowed. "I hope all this risk is worth it." She didn't want to mention what was in the back of her head. The two of them could be held back from becoming warriors if they get caught. Because of her fun-loving nature, she decided to go on this adventure but now she was having her doubts.
Mudkit pouted at Crimsonkit, playfully sticking her tongue out at him. "Well, at least I can pounce and keep my balance!" She retorted, bounding over across the snow to walk alongside her friends again. "When we're apprentices, I'll be the best hunter in the entire clan, no contest!" The brown kit held her head high proudly, but as she wasn't looking where she was walking, she nearly tripped over her own paws, barely catching her balance as she flushed embarassedly under her fur. "T-That was on purpose, I swear!"

"Sure it was," Crimsonkit said in a teasing tone and a gleam in his eye. "You've got a long way to go to become the best hunter in SummerClan because you're gonna have to beat me at it first!" He held his head high and walked confidently. "And I'm gonna be the best fighter too, even better than Dustfeather!" Dustfeather, had told him stories of his own exploits creating in Crimsonkit a desire to be like him.

"I'm going to be the best fighter. You can be the best hunter." Ghostkit said to Crimsonkit matter-of-factly. Nobody could be both so it was better for them to compromise. His father was a good hunter, but he would rather be good at fighting.

"We'll see," Crimsonkit boasted. He had his sight set on being the best in everything. "I'm gonna try my best to be the best."
"It's always good to try your best at everything you do," Pantherpaw commented to Crimsonkit. "And I have a feeling you're going to be a very good apprentice, Mudkit." She saw in her determination to work hard. "Look there it is, the lake." Sure enough there was the lake glistening in the starlight. "What was it were supposed to do now that we're here?" she asked the mud brown kit. She couldn't remember what her brother had said.
"H-Hey! Don't leave me out of this!" Mudkit hissed indignantly at her two friends, who were apparently trying to reserve the spots for being the best in Summerclan. "If you both are gonna be like that, then I'll just have to be the best hunter and fighter!" The proud she-cat huffed and marched ahead by Pantherpaw's side, feeling happy about the apprentice's praise. She padded on for a good several paces until Pantherpaw finally spotted the lake in the distance, and Mudkit was forced to stand on the tips of her toes to see it herself. "There it is!" She gasped eagerly, before turning back to the older cat, her face scrunching as she attempted to remember Greythorn's words.
"Um...um...o-oh! I remember now! Greythorn said Starclan will come and dance on the lake when the moon is at it's highest!" Mudkit's head snapped upwards, nearly causing her to tumble onto her back, though this time she regained her balance much quicker. "I-I can't tell...is the moon at the highest point yet?"

The playful argument was all but forgotten for Crimsonkit now that they had arrived at the lake. The only thing on Crimsonkit's mind was the prophecy about StarClan cats dancing on the lake. He ran forward brushing against Mudkit in an effort to get a look.
Pantherpaw looked up into the dark night sky that was dotted with brightly lit stars. The moon was hanging majestically overhead, a bright disc that dimmed the stars nearby. "If not then it soon will be," she replied. She then looked back at the lake and noticed some strange starting to happen. Was it starting to happen? Small lights that reminded Pantherpaw of fireflies began to form over the lake. "Look over there!" she gasped.
It was beautiful. Above their heads, Silverpelt was shining at it's most brilliant; billions of tiny dazzling, twinkling stars flicked and shone brightly over the icy lake. The stars were so bright that it almost felt like daytime, none of the young cats had any trouble seeing at all. A soft fog surrounded the outside of the body of water, gently floating upwards in puffy clouds. Mudkit's eyes were wide in awe, and without thinking, she darted to the very edge of the lake before stopping to stare at its enchanting beauty. Then, after a few moments, she noticed large blobs of light bouncing around on the surface, almost...twirling.
Then the lights began to shift. Their forms changing and sparkling, until ghostly forms emerged that looked just like cats.
A gorgeous sleek silver she-cat stretched as she observed the lake around her, taking it all in for a few seconds. It had been so many moons since she had last been in the world of the living; it was just as wonderful as she remembered. Her thoughts were paused as another she-cat, with a fluffy white pelt, moved beside her and licked her ear lovingly. "What do you think, my darling? Lovely, isn't it?" "It's amazing, mother. I never knew that Starclan could even do this!"
Suddenly, a ginger form flew past them, sliding on the ice and kicking up snow in his wake. Ragingfire laughed at the startled reactions of his mate and daughter, before turning to skate around them in several large circles. "Come on! There's no time for chit-chat! Rosewhisper! Beautifulgift! Come dance with me!"

Pantherpaw stood fixated, her eyes glued to the fantastic spectacle. Crimsonkit bounded over to Mudkit and watched the sight in uncharacteristic silence. He swayed in time to the StarClan cats dancing.
Graystar and his grandson Hawkstar glided gracefully on the ice. "I love this night," Graystar said. "It's the one time in a year we get to do this." "I so enjoy coming back to our territory," Hawkstar replied. "I enjoy being in StarClan but I miss this place so much." "I know what you mean," Graystar agreed. The two former leaders locked paws and spun around in a circle.

Min purred as he followed his companions around on the ice. He smiled at the small kits along the bank, content with his afterlife in Starclan. He recognized one of the apprentices from his living days and flicked his tail. "It's so nice to stretch my paws again." The small brown tom called out as he slid along gracefully.
Lupinepaw's jaws gaped open with surprise. He hadn't listened to the tale and most certainly didn't expect it to be real! "It's amazing." He whispered to himself, glancing among the starry figures in the hopes that maybe his father, Dragonrage, was among the starry figures. He was not and the black tom couldn't help but feel slightly disappointed by that.
"Oh. my. Starclan. Literally." Ghostkit squealed, jumping high into the air with his excitement and tumbling a bit as he landed. But none of that mattered and he stared, unable to detach himself from the amazing sight before him.

Crimsonkit was mesmerized by the awesome sight. Cats of all ages and sizes were gliding around on the frozen lake. He wanted to join them but some unseen force seemed to hold him back so he settled with just watching.

"Who told you all about this, again?" Lupinepaw asked, not bothering to stop and look at the kits or Pantherpaw, they were all far too mesmerized to look away after all.

"Graythorn," Pantherpaw meowed. "I never had heard about it before." She wondered how her brother knew and then she figured it out. "Some StarClan cat must have told him about it during one of his visits to the MoonCreek."

"Maybe. Do you think he's seen it before? How come he isn't here?" He asked curiously. Despite being their medicine cat, he was technically than even Lupinepaw who was currently the oldest apprentice in the den and would become a warrior soon.

Pantherpaw still had her eyes on the dancing StarClan warriors not wanting to look away even once. "Who knows what goes on his grumpy head?" she whispered. "He probably didn't want to leave his warm nest." Then the thought crossed her mind -- Maybe he didn't want to get in trouble.
"SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Mudkit's head snapped around and shushed the pair of talkative apprentices with a stern and surprisingly serious glare. This was far too beautiful a moment to ruin by gossiping about how grumpy her adoptive father was, even if it was completely and totally true. But this wasn't the time! "Keep your voices down!" She ordered in a harsh whisper. "I'm gonna try and get closer..."
"Hey! Min, right?! Can I skate with you?!" Beautifulgift let out a squeal of laughter as she swirled around her fellow member of Starclan, doing several dizzying loops around the poor brown tom before finally stopping in front of him. The young silver she-cat stuck out her tongue playfully. "My buzzkill of a mate didn't want to make the journey down here with us," she explained with an expression of exaggerated annoyance. "And my parents are too busy being totally cute and in love, so I need somebody to dance with!" She tilted her head across the lake, where Rosewhisper and Ragingfire were now sliding along side-by-side, with their pelts brushing together.
A distance away from Graystar and Hawkstar, a lone golden-brown tabby tom watched the pair awkwardly, unsure of whether or not to approach them. It had barely been a week since Lightningswift had taken his last breath in the living world, leaving behind a mate, children, and grandchildren to mourn him. It didn't feel right...enjoying a festival like this with the knowledge that his family among the living were miserable? And since this was a Summerclan tradition, he similarly didn't believe it was his place to ask his Waterclan family in Starclan, such as Glowwormcreep or Reedstalk, to come with him.
