Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. Subtlepaw couldn't help but feel excited. It was her first time celebrating the Spring Equinox. But the tortoiseshell apprentice hid her excitement. Instead, she retained her dignified countenance as she traveled with the group she had been assigned to. She knew what they had to find, and was eager to prove herself to everyone else. Besides... a little friendly competition never hurt anyone before. Subtlepaw looked around at the rest of the group. She assumed that the other warriors would take the lead on this expedition. It only seemed proper
"Right well, I guess we can start?" In all honesty, the tom didn't want to be there. He didn't feel much like celebrating anything, especially not with the amount of inner turmoil he'd been struggling with lately. Polarblast shuffled his paws, attempting to looking somewhat presentable and engaged, but ultimately failing at the task.

"I would have assumed that we started as soon as we left camp." Subtlepaw said shortly, the smallest hint of annoyance creeping through her voice. "But yes, I believe we can start. We are all aware of what it is we're looking for, correct?"

Kodiakkit had stayed close to the warriors in the group. As one of the youngest kits in the nursery his confidence was not the highest, and especially not away from his mother, or his siblings for that matter. And the list of things they needed to find was so scary! How would they be able to find a bear tooth?! He hadn't even seen a bear, and at this rate wasn't sure he wanted to. He poked his head out from between the warrior's legs to look at Subtlepaw when she spoke, waiting patiently for her to finish, "What are you gonna look for first Subtlepaw?" he asked, his ears perked with curiosity.

Subtlepaw flicked her ears as she looked down towards Kodiakkit. She recognized him as one of the kits the heir had adopted. The tortoiseshell apprentice twitched her whiskers, thinking about her answer carefully before she responded.
"Well, I believe I'll look for one of the easier items first." She responded. "Either the smooth pebble, or the crows feather. Or perhaps something as vague as something colorful."
Polarblast had been threatened to keep a close eye on Kodiakkit by the kit's mother and the clan's Heir Northernlights. "Stay close now, Kodiakkit. Can't have you wandering off now." He knew the Jagged Falls weren't the best place for a kit, or really any cat. The falls were dangerous. They were icy and jagged stones stuck out, plus the predators around here too. And don't even get him started on the long, long fall over the edge you happened to slip. There was no surviving that fall, that was for sure, especially not with the half frozen ice chunks below. "Stay away from the edge everyone, can't have someone falling over it now." Honestly, he didn't want to explain how anyone had died on this trip, espeically if it happened to be Kodiakkit.

Swiftkit jumped next to Kodiakkit, "We can do this! I have full confidence us guys will find this bear claw or whatever it is we are finding. After all we got warriors and we got you as well!" The cheerful orange and white kit lightly jumped in the foot print the warriors were making but keeping away from the edge like Polarblast asked.
Frostcloud walked on in silence. She didn't see the point in this scavenger hunt. It seemed pointless and a good way to get a kit killed but she knew better than to question Wintrystar on her choices. Her main focus was keeping a look out for the predators. The last thing they wanted was to come face to face with a predator such as a wolf or a bear. "Just keep close." She muttered to the kits, listening for the slightest sounds and smells of danger.
Tempestpaw followed behind the group. He took it upon himself to guard the back, for no reason other than his engagement to Wintrystar's daughter. If he couldn't help defend the patrol, then what? His eyes wandered the edges of the land for any sign of a predator, a predator hunting for kits.

Kodiakkit watched as Swiftkit bounded about. He was much more optimistic than he was, but he smiled at the idea of actually finding a bear tooth. He wondered if he brought it to his momma if she could find a way for him to wear it instead of the normal gen he wore on his neck. The idea made him warm, but polarblast's warning brought him back to reality, "Yes Polarblast," he mewed politely, making sure he was a good distance from the edges where he could fall. Everyone seemed so tense, and he wasn't quite sure what it was all over. This was just a fun scavenger hunt anyways, he thought to himself, "Do you want to help Subtlepaw find that pebble?" he asked Swiftkit, "We can all work together!"

(Hey so you know Swiftkit is a lil boy X3 but also I'm loving the interaction these two have)
The tom paused in his paw print jumping to turn and look at Kodiakkit with snow lightly splashed on his face. "I'd love to help Subtlepaw and you! Ooo and Tempestpaw can help too! Team work is what makes things...well work! And we can totally become cool friends over this mission!" Eyes sparkling with an excitement and curiosity of the things to come in this adventure. Swiftkit turned to walk alongside Kodiakkit almost tripping over his paws in the process. Luckily he hadn't been near the edge or else he would have fallen over it. He was sure lucky he had these awesome cats with him to watch over him and his friends.

Polarblast thought, maybe the faster they moved, the sooner they could get back. And the less likely Northernlights was to kill him about Kodiakkit being out of camp and in possible danger. "We'll probably be able to find the animal claws or teeth down by the bottom of the falls. They'll likely be broken off or left behind when the animal was getting a drink. Maybe two of us can break off and go look around there?"

So they'd have to sneak the kit away from the bear cub least they tick off momma bear and have her attacking them)
Polarblast nodded his head and lead the wall down the falls towards the bottom of it where it connected to the river. At least down here, they didn't have to worry about anyone falling over the edge of the falls and to their death, only them falling into the freezing cold water. "Alright, should we spread out and look?"

“I think it would be smarter to stick together, wouldn’t you?” Subtlepaw said with a raised brow. “As has been stated before we have no idea what might be out here or what to expect. Not to mention we do have some younger members with us.” The tortoiseshell said as she swept her tail towards the kits.
"Right. Well, review the list and let's get started then." He was blushing at his mistake and carelessness to have forgotten about the kits being with them. Polarblast glanced down at the kits, the warning from Northernlights echoing once more in his head.

The kit knew they were partly talking about him and Kodiakkit and this made him even more determined to kick butt at this scavenger hunt. "We got this lets gooooooo!" He rushed a ways further than the team not thinking of sticking with him. Onward the brave adventurous kit went looking for anything that resembled what they needed on the list. Looking high and low he searched until he found a claw of some type. Oh heck yes! He bounced up and down in joy...until he saw a lumbering figure approach him. Uh-oh.
What approached was not an adult but a young bear cub. Luck was on Swiftkit's side...well a tad bit at least. Probably would be better if there was no bear around at all but here they were. The bear cub sniffed the kitten in curiosity while the kit froze in fear. He wanted to yell for help but didn't know how to react, as fear floated through him. Instead he instinctively poofed up without realizing it which caused the bear cub to jump up in...playfulness? He wasn't sure but he was still spooked and uncertain with what to do. He stood still as the bear jumped up and down wanting to engage the small kit in playtime. Well this sure was a fine mess to be in.

The grown cats had been too wrapped up in arguing where they were going to look first to notice one of the kits had run off. Frostcloud was the first to realize they were down a head in her count. Her heart sank as she whipped her head around in all directions, hoping to catch glimpse of the missing kit. "Where's Swiftkit!?" She shot to her paws, looking around frantically until she caught sight of tiny paw prints in the snow. "Quick! This way!" She followed the prints, calling for the missing kit. "Swiftkit! ....Swiftkit!... Swift-" she cut off when she caught up with the kit and noticed the bear cub. Where there was a cub, there was a full grown adult mother bear nearby. "Swiftkit!" Frostcloud cried, racing toward them. "Run! Run away now!"
