(im planning on making Altair the breaker type within his family, not a bully, but man will he take joy in tying up loose ends when he's older)
The youngling paced back and forth, as if whatever was on his mind was of the utmost importance, whereas in reality it was almost as if he wasn't thinking at all. He was large for his age already, as if he wasn't part of the youngest litters in the group, to which he had the keenest sense of loyalty. He adored his sisters and brothers, but he had yet to really introduce himself and play with any other cats his age, probably intimidating being one of the few for consideration to be the next mage. Oh well, how could he help that. He came across a stick, and in his frustration of thinking about nothing, stomped on it, a smile coming across his muzzle as it snapped under his white paws, and then he sent the pieces skittering across the floor with a swipe, chasing after them with glee.

There really was little to do these days. Even Deco-chan was frantically pawing away at time, desperate to become a trainee just so she could have something. Anything really. But the black and white youngling was also easily frightened, and practically jumped out of her skin when a piece of Altair-chan's stick hit her in the flank. She was only a bit older than him, but didn't really look it. Short furred, like her father, made the winter even harder to deal with. "What are you doing?" She almost snapped, but her teeth chattering made any sort of threat disappear in her tone.

Altair-chans' head popped up as quickly as the other youngling snapped, his eyes searching quickly for where the voice had come from. When he laid his eyes on Deco-chan he furrowed his brows, as if confused, but his expression returned to its normal emotionless state as he let out a not-so-meaningful apology, "My bad," he offered, "I was just breaking these sticks," he explained, as if that made any sense at all, "What are you doing?"

In a clan of liars, taking someone at their word was a death sentence. But some faux naivety kept letting Deco-chan to give someone more chances than they deserved. She knew he didn't seem to mean it, but she just shook her head like she was just mildly disappointed. She could ask why he was snapping the twigs, but when there was so little to do, she could already predict the answer. "N-Nothing. Just waiting for this winter to be over." Her green eyes glared at the gray sky. "Are you gonna do anything with these once your done?" She fiddled with one of the sticks in front of her.

"Eat them maybe," the black capped kit joked, though his voice didn't translate the sarcasm well, his tone undeniably flat. He realized too late, but tried not to think of it, just moving on, "You're not doing anything better just sitting there and waiting, why don't you do something?" He asked, tilting his head as he went to collect the shards of the sticks he had shattered into a neat pile, planning on breaking any that remained large enough into smaller pieces, his ears pinned in concentration as he tried to remember where he had seen them fly off to.

Deco-chan's eyes narrowed. Okay, things were difficult. But there was no way this guy was actually thinking of eating these things. He sounded so serious too. Altair-chan could have easily figured out that he had her convinced. Deco was always too gullible, too trusting. At least that's what everyone liked to say. "Wh-What do you even mean do something?" Deco's teeth chattered between her words, a harsh breeze cutting right through her short coat. "What are we s-ssposed to do?"

Altair-chan almost scoffed, he was probably just as cold as the other youngling, but was so preoccupied with his little game he had yet to notice the chill, "I dont know, something better than just sitting there and waiting to freeze though," he huffed, rolling his eyes, "Maybe we could set these on fire, then you wouldn't be so cold," he offered, wholeheartedly believing that it was a realistic possibility, "Maybe my mom has something that can set something on fire, we can go check."

Deco-chan wasn't quite like that. She thrived around other cats. With talking and playing and bonding. But as it's gotten colder and she became hungrier, it was harder to ignore the pit in her stomach. Though she really shouldn't have believed Altair's mom would have anything, the idea of a fire was too tempting to ignore. Her pelt tried to fluff out again as she stood up. "Let's look then. You take the lead since you're her kit and all."
