Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Shadowkit was outside of the nursery, his tiny snout was pushing over a pebble, seemingly leading it into a direction when his eyes latched onto Duskkit, "Frieeeeeend."
In almost an instant Shadowkit was at Duskkit's hip, "Hey friend! Whachyah doing? I was just moving a pebble to make a tiny camp for the mice to live in. That way they'll think they can make their own clan, but bam! They don't realize that they're in our camp and we're going to eat them!"
Duskkit's thick fur was puffed out as he stumbled from the nursery, bleaking blearily as he glanced around camp. His stomach rumbled softly so he started to search out food when suddenly the other kit ran up and joined him. He blinked, one paw halfway in the air as he stopped midstep, then slowly placed it back on the ground and looked back at the little pebble. "Will that work soon? I'm hungry now."
"Oh it'll work soon. It's in its final stages, come and see, just uh, move that pebble for a fellow mouse lover, will yah?" Shadowkit said more than asked and lead Duskkit over to his master piece.
There were tiny mounds of dirt set up with little entry way holes he had poked open with his claws. He had made little dens out of torn up grass with some sticks covering up a hole that when one stick was removed the mouse would fall through into the pit. There was a wall of pebbles to keep them in with a small little tunnel way for them to initially come through that would later be blocked by a giant stone that was right next to the tunnel. All that was left was to put the last pebble on the wall.
He considered, his head tilting to the side. Then he shrugged and followed after the other tom, curious to see what his plan was. The little camp did look kind of interesting, though he wasn't sure if it was accurate or not: was this how mice built their nests? "You need some sort of lure," Duskkit suggested after a moment of observing. "How else are they gonna find it?"
"Well I was going to try to befriend two generations of mice to earn their trust and then have them talk to their mice friends into getting them to move. Buuuuut, I guess I could put some corn or wheat in there. But then at the same time we don't have any corn or wheat in SunClan. Maybe mice don't live in SunClan," He realized with a horrified look in his eyes, "All this work would have been for nought!"
Shadowkit narrowed his eyes as he struggled to balance a leaf atop of a twig before glancing back over to Duskkit, "Uh..."
His stick collapsed to the ground, "Yeah okay, you can, mom said I'm almost ready for prey, but not yet. Mom also kind of sucks cause she doesn't feed any of my siblings."
Shadowkit padded over to Duskkit's side, "What piece of prey are you going to choose?"
"Thanks." He led the way over to the kill pile, then stood up on his hind legs and braced his forepaws against a rabbit for balance. He nosed through the prey he could reach, but some of it was too high up for the little cat to reach. "Maybe a shrew, if I can find it," Duskkit suggested. "They're pretty tasty."
"Maybe I'll eat that when my teeth are sharp enough," Shadowkit said, "Hey, I know a secret place if you're interested. There's this cat I know, he lives far away, but I bet I could sneak us close. It's a lot of walking, but if we bring that shrew we'd never go hungry again! At least at our size."
"We're not supposed to leave," Duskkit reminded him without looking back. He dug deeper into the stack, and found a mouse instead. "I guess that's close enough to a shrew," he sighed, and started to tease it out.
"Oh yeah, well. Hedgehogs can't fly, but I just saw one flying right outside of camp. And if you don't believe me I'll prove it. You just gotta follow me outside of camp," Shadowkit said with a big grin across his face, "Unless your ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-chicken!"
Shadowkit nudged Duskkit, "You're not chicken are you? Of being proved wrong?"
"I'm not chicken, I'm hungry," he replied. Duskkit paced away with his catch and laid down, his ear flicking down toward Shadowkit as he dug in. He was a little curious about what it was all like out there, but he wasn't supposed to look, and Duskkit was a good kit.
It was only a moment later that Shadowkit already had his tiny dull fangs in Duskkit's scruff trying to haul him back despite not even having enough grip to be able to tear through meat. Yet he felt he could shove Duskkit out of camp and into doing something interest. He wondered how far he had gotten as he struggled to pull and drag at Duskkit only to blink and realize he hadn't gotten anywhere trying to pull on Duskkit's scruff, "Aw c'mon! Let's have fun!" He said, his voice squeaking at the last word.
"Noooo! Hey, let me gooo!" he complained, planting his paws and struggling against the younger kit. "I just want to eat! Let me eat!" He leaned forward and tore away a mouthful of prey.
"You can snack on the way, I'm not going to live a boring life just because you decided to do something senseless like eating or whatever. You don't need to eat to live," Duskkit said playfully as he managed to drag the kit a bit further at least into a bush that he didn't feel like taking the extra energy to go around.
"I need to eat. We can do something after," he protested, staring with mournful eyes after his prey as he was slowly pulled back away from it. He went limp except for his forepaws reaching out for the abandoned food.
"And I hunted you this twig!" Shadowkit said in despair, "Who else is going to hunt you a twig? Nobody! Nobody is as creative to get you this beautiful piece of nature and dare you to try new things. I care about you Duskkit. It's why I took you out of the warmth and comfort of camp and am pushing you to eat this. Can't you at least try to enjoy yourself?"
"I can't eat a twig, can I?!" Duskkit hissed, his pelt spiking on end. He was getting way too upset over this. "Just let me finish eating and then I'll do whatever it is you need help with, okay? For StarClan's sake, I just need a few minutes!"
