The Temple of The Sun had been quiet lately. With Bloodyrondo unable to enter any longer, this had become her refuge from all the pain and despair reality brought. Littlecrow had been spending more time here than ever before, waiting, preparing for inevitable. She may have been defeated, but that did not mean she had given up just yet. Instead of wallowing in self pity, she had taken this time to continue her studies. When the oppertunity to retaliate presented itself, she would be ready. Armed with knowledge and skills of the ancients.
Her favorite cat to visit with was the Guardian of The Flame, the tiger had been there the first time the Sun God had been killed... He had been the one to do so along with the Lying Lioness. He understood her actions, supported them even. It is what had to happen if SunClan was to thrive. She stood by the eternal flame speaking to him, as the fire suddenly roared to life, sending out embers into the air. Someone was coming to the temple.
Embers swirled past the she-cat like tiny tornadoes licked with flames. The embers smoldered, dissipated into grey puffs of smoke as the blurry silhouette of the she-cat moved into view. Her coat were like patches of the SunClan's rich prairie land. Fur as grey as the rocky cusps of SunClan, drew over her adorable slender build with blacker shades shadowing over the grey like long shadows. Bursts of burnt orange flared in small patches along her body like dappled sunlight. Along her chest and underbelly her fur was a bold white color like a hot shock of lightning in the dry seasons.
Faithpaw took a few steps, her body practically twirling as she took in every unique feature with slow speculation. There was no wariness to the new landscape, only childish wonder. This felt like a place that her father and grandfather could have told in stories it was so fanciful, but the place itself seemed to be its own story. As though the very environment were one long eternal story that no one could reach the end of.
Finally her gaze relaxed, unable to strain her eyes any further. Her head had been tipped back so far she could feel the affect of dizziness hitting her like a stone. It was about when she realized that even when her paw steps at stopped she could still hear the echo. She smiled, but rather gently asked, "Is anyone home?" even though the idea of shouting felt like a pleasing idea she didn't wish to bother whoever was dwelling here. They must be huge to live in such a large home!

The young apprentice emerged from the flames, eyes wide with wonderment. Littlestar sat with the Guardian of The Flame for a few moments, simply watching as she spun around looking at the chamber with curiosity brimming in her gaze. But what caught her attention more than anything was the symbol that seemed to shine on her forehead... A symbol she was all to familiar with, that of the Soothsayer. She looked up at the Guardian of the Flame who gave her a single nod, but when she looked back to the young cat the symbol was gone. The she-cat unaware of it ever being there, but the sign was clear enough. This cat was to be SunClan's next soothsayer.
Moving forward into Faithpaw's line of eye sight, she smiled kindly "Welcome to the Temple of The Sun, Soothsayer"
Faithpaw turned, noticing Littlestar and the Guardian of The Flame for the first time. Her blue eyes rounded like mythical pools of water, her eyes were just as enchanting as her mothers. She had never heard of a soothsayer before, or actually maybe she had. She heard Bloodystar say the word sometimes. She wanted to correct the she-cat, but she looked so pretty and kind. She didn't need to be told to respect her, she just felt it the instant she looked at her. "Oh hello, I'm A- Faithpaw" Faithpaw said, but she didn't dip her head in greeting like most clan cats, instead she stared eagerly at them, a typical sign of respect in the Regime, but felt like a challenge in clan culture.
"Is this something called a palace?" She asked, trying to scrape her mind about everything palace related. She had only heard so much about places like this, but they were bigger than she ever imagined. Then she perked up looking at the Guardian of The Flame, "Are you what is called a tiger?"

"It is similar to a palace" she agreed "but the Temple of Sun holds much more spiritual significance than any palace you will come across in your travels" so full of life and curiosity, she couldn't help but to smile even though it made her heart ache for her own children. They would be apprentices by now... would they even remember her?
Pushing the thoughts away she focused on the cat before her "I'm Littlerstar, and this is the Guardian of The Flame. Yes he is a tiger, and there many other types of cats here for you to meet as you explore. The Temple of The Sun is a place for learning. It seems the Sun God has chosen you, to help lead SunClan back into his light"
Her eyes sparked with joy, a past leader of SunClan, remarkable! She wondered briefly how old she must be, after all in the Regime hardly any commanders were dead and gone. However hearing about the Sun God she immediately looked a bit confused, "They said that the Sun God's not here anymore though," Faithpaw said with surprise before thinking more about it, "Or isn't found. But I don't know if I count as a SunClan cat, I grew up in Renegade Regime. My parents and us returned because Bloodystar said their missionary trip was over."

" When you feel the sun warm your pelt, the light that keeps the darkness of night at bay, this is all the work of the Sun God. The Sun God is always with his chosen." she lifted her paw gently placing it on the she-cat's chest "in here" he paw slowly falling back to the sandstone floor "It matters not where you come from or what blood flows through your veins. I became High Priestess, and I have not a single drop of SunClan blood running through mine. What matters most is what lies within your soul, and your devotion to our God and Clan. However there is some truth to what you have heard. The Sun God is still alive, but reborn far away from SunClan in a new form. His powers are still at work on our sacred lands, but I fear the longer he is away the weaker they will become" she paused letting her words sink in
"I won't pretend to understand why you were chosen, the Sun God works in mysterious ways that are beyond our comprehension, but you have been brought here for a reason Faithpaw, and I believe that is to help guide SunClan back onto the right path so that the Sun God may return to SunClan once more" she stood smiling "Perhaps you will be the one to guide him back home"
She stared at Littlestar, this was the moment she grew to long for. When she would find the mythical horse in the field or find out that she was really a fanged cat and have to feed on others in the night. That she was chosen for a great adventure like all the stories her father and her grandfather told her. She used to mock the main characters for not wanting to be a part of an epic story, but now that she was living in it she could understand why. What did it mean to be chosen? Could she trust Littlestar? She touched the edges of her ear in thought. Her mother didn't hesitate to move from SunClan to the Regime with Duskslayer because she trusted and loved him. And her father Duskslayer never hesitated when he was called to go back to SunClan because Bloodystar needed him. But both had to make sacrifices and leave family behind. Since she was born, the idea that good people needed to make tough sacrifices was drilled into her mind so when her gaze focused onto Littlestar's reassuring smile she toughened her gaze and smiled back at her, "Okay, I will do my best."
She turned back the way she came as if she knew where she was going or what she was going to do. She got a little bit caught up in the moment. Turning back to look at Littlestar she gave a bit of a sheepish smile, "So, how do I start? Is there a special soothsayer committee I have to talk to or a special kind of training?"

"Learning what a Soothsayer is would be a good place to start" she chuckled, her fluffy tail flicking on the young cat's shoulder as she stood, leading the way down the stone steps "The Soothsayer is an important member of SunClan. While the High Priest or Priestess both leads and heals the clan, the Soothsayer helps guide the clan on spiritual matters" she leapt down onto the next step, waiting on Faithpaw to join her before she continued to speak
"The Soothsayer looks for and interprets omens from the Sun God, conducts important spiritual rituals, and assists the High Priest or Priestess in training the Janus" she leapt down to the next step "This place is called the Temple of The Sun, and as a Soothsayer you will spend a lot of time here in the pursuit of knowledge learning from the cats that came before you. However, I must warn you the existence of the Temple of The Sun is a closely guarded secret even from most members of SunClan. Only janus, promised, the High Priest or Priestess, and the Soothsayer are able to come here. It is important that you don't speak of it or the things you learn here to anyone else or there will be consequences..." she paused, moving on to the next step giving her a chance to ask her questions
Faithpaw listened, she wondered briefly how she would be able to teach cats older than herself or if she should ask what an omen was. Omens just weren't a thing in the Regime and she had never heard of one in her time in SunClan. Plus she didn't know any spiritual rituals, but at least she had the Temple of the Sun, she was going to have to study here a lot before understanding any of this. However at the mention of keeping things secret she had to take a double look at Littlestar. Her parents always told her to not keep secrets from them. Especially ones that adults told her to keep. But something about the temple told her instincts that this was a trustworthy place. At least she could talk about it to her dad. "Your secrets safe with me, I promise Littlestar," Faithpaw said as the priestess could hear the audible hopping sound with each pounce she took down the steps.

As they reached the tunnels, she waited until the young cat was able to catch up before staring down into the darkness "These tunnels will take you where you need to go, all you need to to do is think about what it is that you are seeking and begin walking. In the Temple of The Sun, the knowledge of SunClan is at the tip of your claws waiting for you to seize it" she hesitated at the entrance
"However, not all cats that you meet here are willing to part with wisdom or the skills the process so freely as I. The information they give you always comes at a cost. Sometimes they might ask for something simple such as a story or an update on one of their decedents. Others may ask you to complete a task, or to bring them something from the material world. As you start learning here, you must be careful with you words. The ancients are bound to keeping their word, but they can be tricky. Be careful what you agree to, and never offer a favor as payment. It is untelling what they may ask of you"
"Like in story 18 of the dark chronicles when Sun God and Blind Protector discovered the genie in the seashell, got it. Thanks mom!" Faithpaw smiled, before realizing she accidentally called her new mythical guide mom. Silent, she spun on her paws and walked down the tunnel deciding that anywhere that could teleport her away from this conversation she wrecked was a technological miracle. But where did she need to go? She kept walking. Did this tunnel get further the more she walked or was she just walking in place? It really didn't go anywhere until she decided. Spirituality and omens, that was what Littlestar pressed hard about, that's where she needed to go.

[Time skip] "Here, drink this" Littlestar gently poured the sweet mixture she had prepared into a leaf so that she could drink it. It was a mixture of honey and warm water to help soothe her throat "I apologize, I didn't realize your father had been chosen as a promised. Unfourtantly the ceremony was not done correctly, for so long as I am living Bloodystar can not be the true High Priest in the eyes of the Sun God"she smiled apologetically "Your throat should recover quickly, when you go back ask for some honey and warm water" She ruffled the fur on top of Faithpaw's head gently
The the burn had been initially frightening, she had tried to talk to her dad about the temple, she wanted advice. However the more she spoke the more her throat burned, until she fell into a fit of coughing. Her father was convinced a bee had stung her, that they shared the same allergy, but that had not been the case.
Faithpaw watched as Littlestar poured the tea with a skeptical expression, but drank up nonetheless. After all, apprentices shouldn't appear sassy. She listened as Littlestar spoke, her ears pricking upon hearing that she was still alive. She had so many questions, but the tea was soothing on her throat. She took a few more laps before licking her lips. A natural, yet slightly painful purr rumbled in her throat as Littlestar ruffled her fur. She moved into Littlestar's side, pressing up against her in a sign of forgiveness and gratitude for the tea. She was resting her voice for the time being. She could speak softly, but since her dad had spent every waking moment with Mountainsound for Bravepaw's health he wasn't afraid to tell her she couldn't speak for the rest of the day.

She smiled gently, not wanting to push the young apprentice into doing something that she wasn't ready for "I believe you are almost ready to reveal that you are the Sootsayed to the rest of clan..." she trailed off wanting to be honest with her and up front that it wasn't going to be easy. Many wouldn't believe that she was was the soothsayer, and she was afraid of Bloodystar harming her....
"You have mastered the basics of what you are going to need to know as a Soothsayer. I believe that you have a lot of potential to do big things in SunClan" she paused taking in a deep breathe "But I also fear for you Faithpaw... There are those in the clan that won't accept you as their soothsayer easily. I fear you might come to harm, especially if you are unable to convince Bloodystar"
Faithpaw's eyes rounded in surprise, did she really think so? Huntleigh didn't like Bloodystar, but he was bitter. Now she was hearing it from her new friend who was like her mythical god-mother. Bloodystar was always like an uncle in her family, he was busy most days, but from what she gathered from her father he was just going through a rough time. But this was two people now, it wasn't something she should let her guard down about. Maybe she just meant that if Bloodystar didn't approve her other, more meaner people who followed Bloodystar would harm her, but not him.
She gave a thoughtful look, but nodded at what Littlestar was saying. If that were all true then waiting longer wasn't going to help anything, at the very least the clan had the right to know. It would be horrible for her to assume the worse of her clan. She placed a paw over Littlestar's to get her attention much like she did with her own mom. She gave her a firm determined nod. The look in her eyes seemed to say, you can trust me for the job, as she cracked a small smile. Sitting next to her she felt unbreakable.
