Jetfire
SunClan Warrior
The Sweet
It had been a long time since the High Priest's Den had been graced with the gentle rumble of a purr, but the sweet sound echoed even into the main chamber. For the first time, Jetfire's four kits suckled at her side. It was an odd sensation, and honestly quite painful. even though her scar had been thoroughly wrapped and cushioned against their tiny paws, the gentle tugging still hurt as the edges of her wounds tried to knit back together. She had begged Bloodystar and Mountainsound to let her nurse her children, and they had reluctantly agreed after switching her pain killers to something more safe for the kits. They were less affective at managing her pain, but she was determined to have them at her side once more.
Her claws gently needed the soft nest, ripping the moss into shreds. A way to channel the pain she was feeling so that she could lay still enough for them to nurse allowing her mind to wander. Ghostcrown.. what she had done to him still weighed heavily on her heart. The hurt expression on his face, the way his kits screamed for him. The only solace she had was that he was still alive out there somewhere... Perhaps they would get to meet again, in this life or the next. It was truly the only reason she had made it through that day, the drive to protect his life the way he had protected hers.
One of the kits pulled particularly hard making her wince, gaze falling down on the four kits who still had yet to be named... Name...right.... She was supposed to be thinking of names for them.
"It seems they know who their mother is. They are nursing better for you than they did Unseenlights," It was Bloodystar's den, after all, it was only a matter of time before he returned home after another long day. To be honest he had been standing outside for a few quiet moments, listening to Jetfire's purr, it brought a smile to his face to hear it for the first time in moons. He knew it would fall silent as soon as she knew he was there so he cherished it while he had the chance, "Have you named them yet?"
Bloodystar had expected her to pick names right away. Most queens had some ideas before the kits were born, but Jetfire's suicide attempt suggested that she had never planned for them to make it that far. Whenever Bloodystar thought about it his blood boiled and his heart ached. While Jetfire seemed to be okay, these kits were not. They would suffer lifelong conditions due to the poison cocktail their mother consumed. That was bad enough, but what almost hurt him more was the realization that Jetfire had felt so low that there was no other way out. He had no idea that she was so depressed... He should have stopped this. Could have. It never should have happened.
"They're beautiful." He commented after an awkward pause. He was trying. He would do his best. He'd failed her once, but not again.

As he predicted, her purrs stopped as the sound of his voice filled the den. However, she didn't flinch away from him as made his way to her side hovering over and gazing down at the kits at her side. It wasn't much, but it was progress. Just the fact that his voice didn't make her shudder was proof enough that she was trying. She hadn't completely shut down yet, the way she had done for moons as soon as he entered into the den. Her gaze slightly softer, than the dagger usually held behind them.
"I'm still thinking on them.." she admitted slowly "I have some ideas, but I don't imagine you would approve"
"I did tell you that you could pick whatever you wanted," Jetfire selecting the names was important: If she named them, that meant that she was claiming them, which was Bloodystar's biggest concern right now. He was actually afraid that she would reject them altogether. She hadn't given birth to them, hadn't even seen them until they were a few days old, and he knew that she was fighting demons in her heart. What if she rejected them? "Just tell me what you are thinking."

Jetfire was rather surprised... It didn't make a lot of sense to her that he wanted her to pick out the names when he was claiming them as his own children... She gently nosed the frail brown she-cat, white dapples down her back and one of the smallest in the litter. She wanted to ask him more questions, but she was far to tired to try and piece it together in the current moment "For her I was thinking Fawnkit"
It was a bit of an unusual name for a kit, especially the kit of a High Priest. They tended to give their kits strong names, but with the little she-kits long legs and coloration she reminded her of the newborn fawns she had seen in the forest. She was nervous about presenting the name to Bloodystar, biting her lip as she awaited on his approval
Bloodystar didn't hate the name. It wasn't exactly strong or menacing like one her would have picked, but it was cute and demure which indeed were the vibes this little she-cat was giving him. Her long legs, taupe coloration and white speckling down her back fit the bill at least. He was quiet longer than intended as he thought this over. Jetfire would probably mistake it for anger, but when he replied his voice was even, "I think that's a pretty name for a pretty little she-cat. What about this one?" He motioned toward the tom whose stomach he had cut, not only did his fur match his mother's but he would also grow up to have a matching scar.

Jetfire let out a little puff of air as he finally spoke, expecting the worst after the extended silence that filled the den. A little release of tension that had been built as he pointed to the next one, a little tom. Even now his midsection was still wrapped tightly in cobwebs to make sure that his wound didn't get infected. It made her sick... he was so little, far to young to have already experienced such pain and knowing that he had been the cause it only made it worse. A sadness spread across her face, making it very clear that she was struggling with trying to name him while holding so much guilt "Secretkit..." she finally murmured after a few moments. She didn't elaborate on the meaning of the name, but it seemed clear enough
"... Secretkit?" Bloodystar seemed a little blindsided by that name, Fawnkit was simple enough but Secretkit wasn't exactly traditional, "What, are you hiding something from me?"
He was trying to joke, but he wasn't a joker, his tone was wrong. He realized that Jetfire didn't get it pretty quickly and turned his attention to gently stroking the newly-named tom, "I suppose it's fitting, since the Clan will never know the real reason he has that scar."
He spoke of Jetfire's suicide attempt as if it was yesterday's news. It was honestly very heartless of him, but the smile he wore on his face when gazed at Secretkit and honestly all of the kits didn't seem to fit the adjective. One could not be heartless and also love a kit as much as Bloodystar clearly did. The High Priest didn't give Jetfire much time to think of it, though, as he moved on to the next kit, also fawn-colored but with shorter fur, "What about her?"

Jetfire felt the guilt eating away at her, every time that he repeated this was all her fault it grew worse and worse. No.. I did it for them. She reminded herself, fighting to convince herself that she had done the right thing. It took her a few moments to respond as he moved onto the next kits "Sparrowkit... After my mentor, I only hope that she can grown to be as strong as he one day"
"Are you sure?," Bloodystar asked, leaning down to nose at the little kit. Of all of them she most strongly reminded him of Sorrowfularia, although she still took strongest after Jetfire herself, "Many SunClan cats will have a problem with that. After all, Sparrowflight is a deserter of the Clan and is marked for death. Someday she may have to execute her namesake."
He was still speaking casually, of course, it seemed that he was willing to accept the name if she could defend it.
