The Outgoing
Carrotpaw's eyes focused in on Dappledbreeze as she entered into the main camp. Since she became a Janus he hadn't had many opportunities to see her. His eyes lit up, carrying over a young rabbit that he had caught over to her "Hey Dappledbreeze! You look awful" most cats wouldn't have noticed the haunted expression on her face, but to him it was as clear as the clouds in the sky "Come take a break with me, I know you are busy but you need to take better care of yourself. I just caught this, and there is plenty for the two of us to share"
Dapplebreeze started as Carrotpaw's voice interrupted her thoughts. She looked over at the apprentice, only a moon or two older than her. He was already a great hunter, it seemed. Carrotpaw had a rabbit in his jaws. "Hey," she said with a tight smile. Dapplebreeze was cranky and stressed, but she didn't want to take it out on her friend. He had noticed that she wasn't feeling the best though, and her shoulders relaxed a bit. It was nice to be able to just be herself now. "Thanks Carrotpaw, I'd love to share a little."

"Good, other wise I was going to have to force feed you, and that wouldn't be fun for either or us" he retorted motioning for her to follow as he retreated to a more shady spot against the stone walls of their camp "I see being a Janus is wearing you out, whenever you need a break just wink at me twice and I'll come up with someone to help you out" he settled down, making room for her at his side "You need to take care of yourself, or you won't be helping very many as Janus"
She smiled, lowering her body to the ground beside him to begin eating. It smelled really good and her stomach made a loud noise. "Sorry," said Dapplebreeze sheepishly. "Been a while I guess." Carrotpaw was being so nice to her and she was relaxing more and more being around him. "Have things been, y'know ... okay for you lately?" The Janus chose her words carefully.

He shrugged "Well enough" honestly all the recent drama had done little to effect him directly, even though it did make him angry. He had to bite his tongue on more than one occassion to stay out of trouble "Mostly I'm just worried about others" he didn't say it, but it was pretty clear that he was speaking of her
Dapplebreeze gently prodded him in the side with one paw. "I know the feeling. Things are tough right now." She thought about sharing with Carrotpaw that Gingersnap had offered her a way out of SunClan, but then she thought better of it. They were friends at the moment, but now that the other Janus was gone, Dapplebreeze was once again alone. She needed to be careful what she shared with others, especially when she wasn't close with them already.

Carrotpaw took a small bite, before pushing it back to her "Well all we can do, is what we can" he shrugged his shoulders looking out over the clan "Which isn't a lot but its something, even something like this" he motioned to the rabbit "Just making sure your friends have something warm in their bellies"
An unexpected purr went through her at the word friend. Were they friends then? Sure, they'd interacted a little as kits and now, but surely the older apprentice didn't consider a cat like her a friend. Dapplebreeze looked around carefully before leaning in. Friends could share information, right? "Carrotpaw ... I have a secret but I'm not sure who I can share it with."

Carrotpaw tilted his head, as she stated that she had a secret. "You can tell me..." he murmured softly, not wanting others to overhear their conversation

"Of course, she was the one that nominated you as a Janus" he didn't know her very well but he had the story of how her moms herbs caught on fire during her ceremony when she was chosen. He had found it rather amusing at the time, though he could still remember Autumngossamer was sad because of the herbs
"Right!" nodded Dapplebreeze, still leaning in close. "Well.. I snuck out of camp recently to meet her and she offered to let me come hide away with her. In DayClan." She had been so tired on the journey home, and her paws had hurt so bad after! Plus there had been no water for her to drink. Still, seeing her friend had given her spirit the boost she didn't know she needed.
"And for just a second," the Janus continued, looking around now with wide eyes, "I nearly said yes. Because of Bloodystar."
Dapplebreeze was extremely distraught after what had happened with Gingersnap. She had stopped crying once she reached SunClan again, but her eyes were still burning. She needed a familiar face right now because dang, she was hurting.

Carrottop had been grooming his pelt, when a tear streaked face of Dapplebreeze appeared. He was on his feet almost instantly, dashing over with a panickedlook on his face "Dapplebreeze, are you ok? Are you hurt" his eyes scanning for some sort of injury. After all they were still on shaky ground with the other clans and it wouldn't surprise him if someone had tried to hurt her if they caught her along a border alone
She drew an angry paw across her face, looking at the smeared paint on it. God, how annoying. How childish of her. At the sound of her name, she looked up to see Carrottop coming toward her. Dapplebreeze's body instantly relaxed and she met her friend halfway, pressing against him with exhaustion. "I'm fine," she snapped, then felt immediately guilty. "I was just in DayClan with Gingersnap and Bloodystar. I'm - I'm not sure Gingersnap and I are friends anymore."

Carrottop pulled her in close, gently wiping away her tears with his paw. Though he couldn't hide his relief at the fact that she was uninjured, but then he got worried again "Why do you say that? You and Gingersnap have always been close" he wasn't about to let her go now, even as she snapped at him. She needed a friend now more than ever, and he wasn't going to give up.
She went to pull away from his careful touch, but nobody had been this kind to her in her whole life save Gingersnap. And his paws were... so soft. She stayed still.
"Bloodystar wanted her to come back to SunClan, but she said no. Even after I told her how much I missed her being here." She abandoned me went unsaid.

"That doesn't mean shes not your friend" he mewed gently, stroking the fur behind her ears with his tongue "She has family in DayClan, so it might be difficult for her to leave and join you here in SunClan" he paused a purr rumbling in his throat "But I'm sure that she will come join you when she can. She just needs to talk to her family first so that they don't worry about her. Beside it sounds like you have Bloodystar's blessing, so it is as good as done"
Dappplebreeze was shocked when she felt her own purr rumble up in response. "Your words are very wise," she admitted, turning her head to gaze into Carrottop's eyes. Soft paws, warm eyes. She felt awkward noticing all of these things about her friend. She hadn't noticed them in Gingersnap. "Why are you being so nice to me anyway?"

Carrottop laughed, rufling the fur on her head gently "Thats a rather silly question Dapplebreeze. You are my friend, isn't this want friends are supposed to do?" The orange tom purred "Besides you shouldn't need a reason to be nice to someone, it should be a given" he leaned and pressed his nose to her cheek
