The past few days Bloodystar had not delivered meals to Lionpride and Pollendrone. They were still getting fed, of course, but none of their food had been tampered with, he hadn't be able to get to it and no other cat knew how. So it was sort of like a break in the chaos. They were still in prison, but they didn't have Bloody antagonizing them, and were able to regain some strength assuming they trusted the prey brought to him in his absence.
This evening, though, Bloodystar was making his grand return. The herb-stuffed prey he carried with him this time were two delectable RABBIT kits whose flavor had been elevated with DayClan seasonings. It even made his mouth water and he hoped would do the trick. He didn't have much patience lately...
Sitting the two pieces of fresh-kill in front of the appropriate cat, the High Priest stepped back and bluntly delivered the reason why he had not come in many days, "Jetfire had her kits."

Lionpride's lip curled up into a snarl, moving closer to shield Pollendrone from his gaze. After Bloodystar had not shown up for several days not, he had started to believe that the leader had finally given up on this folly. However, its seemed that was to good to be true. He stared at the two pieces of prey that had been brought to them with disgust. He opened his mouth to say something snarky, but before a sounds could leave his lips Bloodystar was already speaking. His sister had her kits? Well that explained his absence, but something about the look on the tom's face told him that something was wrong... His eyes narrowed, boring into the new High Priest with disdain "How is she?" he questioned, despite fully knowing this was exactly what he wanted as he took the bait.
Bloodystar was silent way too long, it was part of the game he was playing, but his grave expression was honest.
"I had to perform a c-section," He replied bluntly.
He would take his time telling this story and only reveal as much as he needed to get the reaction from Lionpride that he wanted. So, for the time being, he'd leave it open ended like that. Make Lionpride swallow that dangerous pride of his and ask Bloodystar for more info. While it was true that the High Priest had been lax regarding herbs, he had been very strict about whoever was feeding them not speaking a single word. All they would know about the outside world would be what Bloodystar revealed.
Pollendrone had been laying on her belly with her front paws tucked under her chest and her eyes half closed when Bloodystar made his appearance, thing had been rather peaceful in his absence but as soon as his scent reached her she felt a surge of panic rising deep in her. The she-cats eyes snapped open fully and locked onto the tom. The wounds on her cheeks where healing, no thanks to him of course, Weed had been the first cat to help, demanding that she needed treatment even if it wasnt professional. Why is he back? even as the thought crossed her mind she already knew the answer, the rabbits now laying in front of her and Lionpride only confirming it. She had remained in the same spot, unmoving until Lionpride suddenly moved closer to her; her legs unfurled and she sat up.
The mention of why he had been gone took her by surprise, she knew that Jetfires belly had been growing fast but had it already come time for the kits to be born? Her thoughts ceased there though when Bloodystar very bluntly spoke of a c-section. "A c-section? Are she and the kits alright? Why was she not able to have them naturally?" She had all but forgotten the horrors of her own life at this moment as the questions poured from her mouth, all the while never taking her earth toned gaze off of the High Priest.

Lionpride visibly stiffened as Bloodystar mentioned the c-section, his pupils dilating. His mind began flashing back, the scent of blood that wasn't really there filling his nose. He couldn't bring himself to as the questions, even though he wanted to know about his sister. His throat felt tight, the blood rushing through his ears as Pollendrone's questions filled the air followed by silence. He swallowed hard.
"She was poisoned. The c-section was a last resort I took to at least guarantee that the kits survived it," Bloodysar explained, watching Lionpride carefully. He made sure to keep his distance from the so-called pacifist, the scratches on his cheek not quite healed and stinging from the memory, "However, it was a success. She and all four of her kits survived the the emergency surgery and my anti-poisoning treatments took. Strange, isn't it? It is no secret that I am an inexperienced healer. I can count the number of litters I helped deliver on one paw and not one of them had any sort of complications. And yet Littlestar failed where I succeeded, " His reference was clear, but he didn't let leave any room for interpretation, "It makes me wonder why your dear Aconite and half of your litter had to die. I believe that even then Littlestar's heart was tainted by the Moon Goddess, feeding her darkest desires. It is no secret that she loathed Aconite as your mate, but she feigned acceptance, only to take her away from you for good. Had Satinlights not been there, you may not have even gotten Earthpaw or Mousepaw..."

Lionpride was trembling, shrinking backwards utter horror smeared upon his face as Bloodystar kept talking. His ears fell downwards, his features distorting as if he was in pain. He had only recently began to forgive himself for what happened when Aconite passed on. He had told himself over and over again that it was an accident, repeated it and repeated it until he believed it himself. He had tried to move on, to forgive himself and find happiness with the two kits he still had. To let them be a living reminder of his love for them, and to do the best he could to be a good father to them. But he had failed... Mousepaw was who knows where and Earthpaw had been thrown into prison. If what Bloodystar said was true, he had failed long before now. He seems to crumble, falling almost to the ground as his legs gave out before catching himself tears streaming down his face “I have to go see my sister” his voice cracked, the fight leaving his body “I’ll do whatever you want, just take me to her” his last shreds of resistance crumbling
Pollendrone stood in shock as Bloodystar painted a horrific picture that was Jetfires labor, more questions filling her head, how had she been poisoned? She had been about to ask when out of the corner of her eye she saw Lionpride fall to the ground, in a quick fluid movement she was at his side grounded low enough that her eyes were level with his, her tail curled over his shoulders. "She is alive, remember that, above all else she is alive." She whispered it slowly, so soft that Bloodystar would have had to strain or move closer to hear her. She then turned her gaze to the high priest. "What will it take for you allow him to see her?" It didnt matter what it was, she would accept whatever it was because it was for him.
Bloodystar grinned. Watching Lionpride crumble like that brought him more satisfaction than he had expected. The long-furred tom had been a thorn in his side long before Bloodystar was High Priest and now, after weeks of imprisonment and psychological torture, he had finally beaten the fearsome Lionpride into submission. After the massive tom followed his betrothed, Pollendrone, which was the icing on the cake. Lionpride was a leader. If he backed down, others would as well. It was why he had put so much time and energy into him personally. Bloodystar hoped that this meant his siblings would follow in suit.
"Swear your fealty to the Sun God and myself. It has been the one stipulation of your imprisonment from the beginning, and the same out is given equally to every prisoner. So, bow your head and do as I say, and you will be full Warriors of SunClan once more... Well, one of you, anyway," His eyes narrowed on Pollendrone, "After all, you two will be parents in about two moon's time. Pollendrone will be taking it easy in the nursery and build up her strength since Littlecrow's family line has a history of difficult deliveries."
Pollendrone bit back a hiss, she shouldn't have expected anything less from the monster that stood before her. She had no issues with following the Sun God, it was the way of Sunclan, but to follow Bloodystar blindly and pledge her unyielding loyalty to him left a bitter late in her mouth. She didnt have a chance to speak though as he continued, his attention falling to her now. "Parents..." she nearly choked as the simple word left her, shock painted clearly in the way her eyes widened and her mouth dropped open slightly. Her eyes fell to her belly, unchanged by the pregnancy the high Priest was informing them of, she had not begun to show yet, if his words were true, her figure still thin and even slightly malnourished. How would he know when she herself didn't.

Lionpride gaze fell on Pollendrone, unable to meet Bloodystar’s gaze as the High Priest spoke. It wasn’t long ago that the two of them had decided to stop fighting the inevitable, to do what they needed to In to protect one another. Part of their decision being that even though he couldn’t force himself to love her, that he still cared for her. That even if they weren’t in love that perhaps they could still make this farce of marriage work between them. She had already heard some of his deepest secrets, listened as he poured out his heart. She accepted him for who he was, even knowing that his heart would never fully belong to her. Even now at his lowest point, she jumped to his defense even knowing the consequences. He leaned against her, pressing her nose into her fur for a moment just taking in her scent, trying to swallow his pride long enough to say the words Bloodystar wanted to hear. If what Bloodystar said was true, then it wasn’t just his life on the line now. Pollendrone and their unborn kits needed him to be strong for them, to set set his own personal feelings aside for them. He wasn’t sure how Bloodystar knew for certain she was pregnant, but he didn’t have time to dwell on it. Drawing on her strength he pulled back from Pollendrone “I swear my loyalty to you...” his head lowering in defeat
Upon hearing Lionpride speak, Pollendrone shook away her shock and nodded. "As do I." It wasnt an easy thing to agree to but if it meant she could protect him then she would do it. The weight of the tom beside her eased the tense feeling that had taken over her body, but she didnt swell on it for long before she turned back to Bloodystar. "will you keep your word, freeing us from this prison now that we have sworn our loyalty to you?" She took on a more firm stance, pulling herself so that she was sitting straighter, prepared for any tricks Bloodystar may try to pull. "And Jetfire, will you allow him to see his sister?"
The air in the dank prison seemed lighter the second that Lionpride and Pollendrone swore their loyalty to Bloodystar. The room even seemed brighter somehow, more crisp, like a veil had been lifted. At the center of it all the ginger High Priest was grinning like the cat who got the canary. He'd won. Lionpride's loyalty was key to his success in the Clan. Many cats, especially Littlecrow's kin, looked to him as a leader of sorts. He was her oldest son and shared many of her ideals. Winning him over meant that some cats that doubted him may soon follow suit...
"Of course, Pollendrone. I always keep my promises: You are free to go. I will be waiting for you both at my den," Bloodystar turned his back to the two cats and quietly exited the prison. The stone that normally sealed them was left leaning against the wall as the High Priest exchanged some words with the guards stationed there. Paw steps of no less than three cats echoed down the tunnel leaving behind a deafening silence.
Lionpride and Pollendrone were totally unguarded and free to go.

Lionpride's eyes were downcast, still trembling even after Bloodystar and the guards had left unable to find the strength to rise. Instead he leaned into Pollendrone, gritting his teeth so tightly that it made his jaw ache after the vile words he had just uttered. He was supposed to be protecting Pollendrone, and yet here he was having to rely on her for support. Part of him wanted to rush out of this den and to his sister's side, the other part of him unable to believe that he had been truly freed. But worse than that was the fear of what he was about see, the images of his mother pulling a bloodied kit out of his mate at the fore front of his mind. The horror of knowing that not only had his sister had to of went through that, but without her family by her side. It took him several moments before he could even process that the guards had gone. A tear slid down his cheek, pressing his nose into the fur along Pollendrone's neck "He's won...."
Pollendrone watched as Bloodystar left taking the guards with him, she waited, staying pressed against Lionpride until she was sure they had put some distance between them and the prison and she turned her brown eyes to the drafted tom at her side. She lifted a paw and gently wiped the tear from under his eye, unable to imagine the extent of the pain and torment he was now facing but determined to help see him through it. "Lionpride." She spoke his name softly and slide her still lifted paw under his chin to raise his head until their eyes met. "He has not won, we have to be smart from now on. Bloodystar will face retribution for everything he has done, we cannot lose hope now, things will only get worse from here if we do." She kept her voice low, unwilling to take any chances being heard by outside ears and rested her forehead on his. "Our freedom from this cell is only the begining, we must see this through till the end." She would not let herself believe it was over, yes she had sworn loyalty to the High Priest but it was a crucial step in the fight against him, a day would come when her words would hold no meaning and Bloodystar would be only a distant memory, a story the queens and elders would tell to misbehaving kits.

He wanted to just disappear, to fade back into the darkness of the prison wall and pretend like that conversation had never happened. To stop the bloody scenes from replaying over and over again in his mind. As tempting as it was, as soon as Pollendrone's forehead touched his it was no longer an option. He had others depending on him, and even though he wanted to give up he couldn't bring himself to let them down. He took in a deep breathe, and when it released he tried to send away the thoughts that plagued him "Thank you Pollendrone..." He gently licked her cheek before rising to his paws, still hunched from the low ceilings "You are right" he intertwined his tail with hers, the close contact easing his aching heart "This is about more than just us now..." he paused, a small smile finally gracing his lips as he moved to begin leaving their prison "We have to start thinking about our new family"
Pollendrone lifted herself to her paws as he stood, they had been brought here together and that is how they would leave. "That's right, we have lives other than our own to protect now." She looked at her belly once more and then back to Lionpride, the sight of his smile causing her own to form, a difficult and winding path was now stretched out in front of them but so long as they traveled it together she knew that they would make it through. She fell in step with him and walked forward, leaving behind the darkness of the prison. "We should go and see Jetfire, I'm sure now more than ever she needs you."

He walked by her side, letting their fur brush against one another but before he knew it his tail had intertwined with hers. With each step he was feeling a bit stronger "Yes, but what Bloodystar said isn't the full truth... There is something more to this than what he is telling us" he tried to ignore the heat rising to his cheeks from the close contact with Pollendrone. As they reached the bright sunlight, it was nearly blinding causing him to pause, blinking trying to get his eyes to readjust to the bright lights, the fresh air, and the rush of scents being blown towards them. ----skip to them getting to the High Priest's Den?
Pollendrone stayed by his side as they approached the High Priests den, her nerves were running wild so she could only imagine how Lionpride must be feeling. She paused outside of the den and looked at him, offering a soft and comforting smile. "Are you ready? I'm right here if you need me." She set a gentle paw over his, assuring that she would not let him go through this alone. Neither of them knew the exact state that Jetfire was currently in, only what had happened leading to it, but just hearing Bloodystar speak of what had happened managed to send a chill through her.
Hearing their murmurs outside, the High Priest got back to his feet and padded over to entrance of his den. He didn't say anything to Lionpride or Pollendrone though and simply beckoned them inside.
"Jetfire, you have guests," Bloodystar told his wife. He had a devilish grin on his face, textbook cat who finally got the canary, which, honestly, wasn't far off from the truth. Gaining the support of Lionpride was a massive power move that would have a strong effect of jetfire. What that effect was, though, was yet to be determined. She had a way of surprising him, and Bloodystar was beginning to hate surprises.
He stepped aside to let Lionpride and Pollendrone get closer to her.
