Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Nightmarekit sat just outside of camp. The moon was high in the sky and most of the camp was asleep. Nightmarekit hated day time and didnt know why. She preferred the night sky, oh how the stars sparkled like a million diamonds caught in a blanket of dark blue velvet. The cool night air ruffled her fur and she breathed in the sweet scents of the outside world. She had grown since she was found just outside of Sunclan territory. Her kitten fur was fading into a sleek, glossy pelt and she was getting taller. She would be an apprentice soon. She looked to the sky and suddenly, flashes of what were thought to be memories flashed before her eyes. Memories of being curled up in the curve of a warm belly, the smell of milk filled the air and flashes of dark ginger fur flickered in and out of memory. She then found herself playing on a cold stone floor, looking up at a blurry faced tom kit before she was thrown to the memory of being in the forest, lost with her sister by her side. Then, the flash back stopped, leaving her dizzy.
She shook her head to clear it. She hated those flash backs, they haunted her. She had tried to confront Autumngossamer and Bloodyrondo about where she came from since they had been the ones to find her but neither of them would tell her. The only thing they said was that she and her sister were found abandoned at the border and they didn't know anything about where they belonged. However, Nightmarekit had a feeling that there was something more to the story than what they were telling her. There had to be more. She couldn't just exist. She had to have had a family, a mother. What if her mother was still looking for her? As much as she wished she could go and look for her mother, the only memory she had of a potential mother was dark ginger fur which was a very common color. Her mother could be anyone.
Angelickit came up beside her, they couldn't have looked less alike if they tried and yet, they were sisters. Angelickit felt comfortable in this new clan, it felt safe to have a place she could call home that she knew was proud to have her. It was because of this that she felt a bit like a traitor, SunClan cats slept at night and yet she longed to stay up and bask in the darkness. She had done everything to hide that desire, but Nightmarekit hadn't.
She lied her chin over her sisters shoulder purring into her fur, "Oh my gosh wait," She let out a gasp and bent down picking something up, "It's so cold and-" She blew the dust off of it, "Unused. It's your optimism," She smirked throwing up a pile of dirt like it was confetti. Angelickit nuzzled her head into Nightmarekit, "Come back to the nest, everything's cold without you."
Angelickit's ears lowered, her gaze sweeping across the surrounding area to see if anyone was near them before speaking to Nightmarekit, "Of course, but I don't want father to be upset that we're talking about this, to me it's not worth the trouble."
Suddenly Angelickit could hear another cat approaching, she twirled around fast as Autumngossamer approached, but didn't walk fully up to him, "Are you girls alright or are you both just hanging out?"
Angelickit looked at Nightmarekit, wondering if her sister was going to interrogate Autumn.
Nightmarekit opened her mouth to respond to her sister but Autumngossamer's presence cut her off. Of course Autumngossamer was here. She spun around to face the cat that had found her. She thought about what her sister had just said, To me it's not worth the trouble. She took a deep breath before answering Autumngossamer. "Yeah, we're okay. Just...couldn't sleep. Had a bad dream." She lied, though she played it off well. "Angelickit was just coming out to see if I was okay."
"Okay, just checking up on you. If you're still having trouble sleeping let me know, I'll stay up until you girls head back to sleep," Autumngossamer promised before returning to her old den. Her mind flicking back to when Bloody and her found them. She had never seen him so certain and protective about anyone, but she had to give to him, he genuinely wanted to be a father to them. Plus even if she disagreed she knew full well she was on SunClan land, even if she didn't want these kits to be raised here she wouldn't have been allowed to make it over DayClan's border. It almost felt like the kits were destined to be here if fate were a thing.
Angelickit watched Autumngossamer leave before turning back to Nightmarekit. She licked the side of her sisters face comfortingly, "What's to dislike about here anyways?"
"I-I don't know" she admitted, turning to look her sister in the eye. "Something just doesn't feel right. Like...like I'm suppose to be somewhere else. You don't know that feeling?"
"I do, I just find it kind of dumb to stare out fore longingly into the stars wondering about it. If I'm meant to be somewhere else than what am I even supposed to do? Travel around? No offense, but living off the land and finding my destiny isn't really my thing Nightmare," Angelickit said.
"I bet we both did, SunClan names are pretty weird, like that one kit, Perfectkit? Who names someone that," Angelickit laughed, but bumped her sisters shoulder lightly, "C'mon, we should head in for the night before an actual invasive adult comes over and ruins our fun."
(When Nightmarekit falls asleep that's when Autumn and her can meet in their dreams and learn about their abilities)
Nightmarekit chuckled at her sister's joke about Perfectkit. Who does name their kit Perfectkit? The little black kitten let out a defeated sigh and followed her sister to their nest. She curled up, feeling Angelickit's warm fur against her's. It wasn't long before she drifted off into a deep sleep.
The little black kitten found herself in a field of flowers. Butterflies fluttered nearby. Giving into her kit heart, she leaped at the butterflies, feeling content when suddenly a storm rolled in out of nowhere. The butterflies turned to dust and lightning flashed, followed by a clash of thunder. Frightened, Nightmarekit turned to run for cover when she bumped into something soft, yet solid. When her vision cleared, she realized the figure she had bumped into was all too familiar. "Autumngossamer?" She spoke, a confused expression playing on her face. Perhaps she was only dreaming but it almost felt real in a strange way.
"I didn't expect to see you in the astral planes," Autumngossamer said, leaning low to look at the kit. She was half expecting to find out she was an illusion of some sort, or perhaps had used special paints, but no, it was her. "Interesting. Are you typically a lucid dreamer?" She asked, "That's when you can control the state of your dreams, maybe vividly remember your dreams, can change the landscapes of the dream realm easily?"
"This is a dream?" She looked around before lifting her paw to poke the air, causing a rippling effect to indicate she was, in fact, dreaming. "Whoa...I-I mean, I guess I can control my own actions and remember every dream I have but...I don't know how to make this storm go away." She jumped and crouched in the grass as another big clash of thunder boomed overhead.
"You can control lots of things in a dream," Autumngossamer said, her head turning 180 degrees to reveal another face behind her head, this one of a fox, "You'll pick things up, here and there," She said, her voice more sing song, higher than before when she spoke with a fox as her face.
"I learned lots of things as soothsayer, I had to because I had no help from the Sun God, so everything I learned I was forced to obtain on my own without much spiritual help from entities. I can teach you too if you'd like, since you have the gift and all that," She said thoughtfully, her head turning back to her normal face, but Nightmarekit could still see the fox face on the back of her head, it looked like a mask.
Nightmarekit flinched when Autumn's face turned into a fox but she relaxed when she realized it was still Autumn. "Wait...gift? What gift? You mean other cats don't have dreams like this?"
"Definitely not, you're an elemental, capable of more than the average soul. That's valuable in SunClan, so be careful who you tell, SunClan likes to hoard elementals close, keep them in submission, but your secrets safe with me," Autumngossamer promised her. When she agreed to nurse Angelickit and Nightmarekit that's how she looked at it. Providing for them because no one else could, but more and more she was realizing that Nightmarekit was distant unlike Angelic. She wasn't going to bond with Bloodystar at this rate, without a parent Nightmarekit didn't have anyone to fend for her. So she would have to be her protector.
"I'm an elemental?" She had heard of the Elementals but didn't know any on a personal level. It took her by surprise to hear that she was one of them. It also brought some kind of relief that she was finally finding out more about who she is. Perhaps she could pry a little more and figure out where she came from. "D-do you think that is why we were abandoned?" She looked up at Autumngossamer as if she expected the Dayclan warrior to scold her for asking.
"I couldn't guess something like that," Autumngossamer said, but sat down closer to Nightmarekit, "You know you were abandoned?" She asked, her brown gaze looking troubled, "I'm sorry I didn't say something sooner, I should have. I guess I just wanted to see you bond with me or Bloodystar first before telling you, so you'd have at least one guardian figure in your life you could trust. So you wouldn't feel more alone. You have me though, always and forever, even if you snap at me," She smirked, "I wouldn't blame you if you ever did."
She shrugged. "I kind of figured it out...I look nothing like you...Angelickit does but I don't. Plus, I have these flashback visions...I don't see much but what I do see, the background looks nothing like Sunclan...it's mostly dark and damp looking. A-and I see flashes of dark ginger fur that doesn't look like yours or Bloodystar's..." She let out a sigh, lowering her ears as she pressed against Autumngossamer. "So it's true...my own mother didn't want me because I was diff-erent." Her voice cracked when she said different and tears welled up in her eyes. "I-Im glad that you and Bloodystar wanted me...but...now I kind of wish I could show my real mom. Show her that...she made a mistake."
She really hoped Angleickit and Nightmarekit weren't abandoned, that there was a better explanation, but she couldn't think of one. Even in her most depressed days of motherhood she never made excuses for not caring for her kits. if she truly was too depressed to handle anything she always made sure her kits were left in the responsible paws of their father or a trusted friend. For a clan cat to just leave their kits there was no excuse, they had the support to look after them. Abandonment was what made the most sense.
"Sweet dream, don't even waste a thought on who your parents were. if they really left you then you shouldn't live your life wanting to prove something to them. The best revenge you can give is leading a happy life. Forbidding the past to lead your future, I battle with that everyday. You'll always have me though and between you and me, if Bloodystar gets on your nerves you can always come to DayClan and stay with me when I move back there again."
