Wildcherry stowed his freshly caught mouse in a tree nearby for temporary safe keeping. The ground was too hard to dig and something might take it away if he left it out in the open. The large russet red tom wasn't entirely sure where he should go next for prey either just that he needed to go.... somewhere.
He was a slick black tom with a mountainous height and lean figure. His mom was Glowstar, his eyes reflected that. He used to come frequently to help them hunt, but had come less and less after he had kits of his own. Now he seemed to have returned to help his moms clan once more, not that he ever stayed.

Wildcherry wasn't very familiar with the tom who carried another clan's scent, but one thing he did know was that he was Glowstar's son and was around from time to time. "You aren't from Dayclan." Was all he said, a bit confused and reluctant to run him off. After all, Glowstar likely wouldn't be pleased towards the warrior who chased her son off without good reason.
[ idk if it's actually public knowledge but lets just say wildcherry is a smart snoop xD ]
"But I have helped out in the past and I'm here to assist again. Trust me, you could use a friend like me to catch your prey, you can't deny that last year you could hardly hold yourselves together when leafbare hit. Some extra paws on hand could be a big assist to someone in your... Situation," Leucisticcrow said, "So, you're welcome. Now, where's the best place to hunt around this season?"

He did have a point, Dayclan was huge and their prey unseemingly scarce during leaf-bare. They could use all the help they could get, within reason of course. They were not cats without pride. "Uh, well, honestly there aren't a lot of places to hunt and that's the problem. There are mice by the keeper's mansion, but they aren't the only things there either so I don't really like to go there and the chicken coop is guarded by two legs. We can try the field and see if there is anything looking for a late breakfast." He grinned awkwardly after realizing he had said most his thoughts aloud and pointed towards the direction they wanted to go. "This way. Hopefully we won't have to go find old two leg buildings."
"Eh, I'll just catch you guys some fish, when you're starving you're never really that picky anyways," Leucisticcrow shrugged, "C'mon, I'll show you how. I didn't know how to fish before I joined WaterClan, but here I am. You can learn too if you're up for it. But fishing is probably a good food source to start with. Show me your nearest river please."

"Fish?" He crinkled his nose in disgust. Wildcherry had never been much of a fish eater but, once again, the tom was right. Desperate times call for desperate measures. "Okay, teach me... please."
Once at the river Leucisticcrow paused, "Alright, you have to find your shadow and ensure it doesn't cover the water. The fish will dart away thinking you're this giant fish about to eat them. And they'd be half right."
Leucisticcrow approached, his mountainous black body moved over to the water and sat down just a hair away from the edge, but ensured no pebbles or dirt fell in. His shadow lied neatly behind him as all at once his claw darted fast into the water and out with a fish in his paw, "Precision is key. But if you try and find you feel a bit hopeless try keeping your paw in the water and catching it when they swim by it. That works well too. WaterClan cats usually all get to my level from repetition, but since you won't always be doing this maybe keeping your paw in the water would be best. Though I gotta warn you, it's not easy to do it the easy way in leafbare. After all the waters get cold and leaving your paw in won't always work in those kind of temperatures."

Wildcherry nodded and awkwardly aligned himself by the water's edge, keeping the shadow tip in mind. He raised a paw up and peered into the water cautiously. "Like this?" The russet red tom looked over for confirmation before he tried to do anything else. he didn't particularly want to keep his paw in the water in this cold.
Leucisticcrow nodded and padded by her side. Up close his physique seemed to share a bit of Glowstar's, he was skinny around the waist and the fur by his cheeks was longer, pointed unlike hers, but handsome looking, "Now, see the fishes path and anticipate it and grab it with a force that drags it upwards until it is at the surface."

The rather small tom nodded and concentrated hard on the water in front of him, focusing a disproportionate amount of attention on the task at hand "see the fish's path..." he noticed the outline of a figh not too far away, it seemed to be coming towards the direction of his paw. When he felt like the time was right, he scooped his paw under the water and clumsily pulled half of it out before it slipped out and escaped his grasp. "Fox dung." He swore quietly but prepared for the next... and the next, next, next.... until finally, the russet red tom managed to scoop once of the slippery little creatures out of the water and pinned it on the bank. "Finally." He exclaimed, emerald eyes gleaming with pride as if he were still an apprentice.
Leucisticcrow looked up to see Wildcherry's catch, a fish in his own jaws that he placed down on the stack of other fish he had been collecting while Wildcherry was busy focusing, "Hey good job, your first catch! You know in WaterClan we do a special ceremony when a cat catches their first fish. We cover them in honey to lure out insects and once they come we collect the bugs caught in honey and put them in water so that more fish come to the surface! We call it, mi gniyl."

He looked at the tom for a moment, trying to decide if he was serious. Really? That sounded like some crazy ceremony he just made up but Wildcherry had no right to say that or questions it. "Really? That's.... interesting." The tom commented with a chuckle. "I've never heard anything quite like it." He admitted. He couldn't imagine it was very comfortable to be covered in honey or bug honey for that manner. "How do you get the honey out of your fur?"
Leucisticcrow laughed, like Wildcherry was a little kit who just asked a silly question before pausing with a questioning look himself, "Yeah I don't know how they would get it out of their fur, I just made it up," He shrugged, "I guess we can bring all of this back to the freshkill pile for people to be annoyed they have to eat fish."
