Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Loelia-tyke whimpered and grunted as she lifted her front legs up and down in small pushups. Her back legs were paralyzed since birth, but she was hopeful that she would be able to walk like everyone else. Her goal was to learn to walk by the time she became a cadet. She had already heard the adults talking that if she stayed like this she wouldn't be made a cadet and instead be made a veteran. She wanted to help the Regime in some way after all...
She fell on her chin, distracted by her thoughts and let out a hurt cry. There were more disadvantages than being unable to move her back legs. She wasn't growing properly, even her fur wasn't growing in, there were more patchy areas than others especially around her face there was less fur. Her purple eyes had sight damage that would also require some exercise, in short she had quite a few challenges ahead of her.
Loelia-tyke pushed herself back up sneezing briefly as she tried to continue her exercises through her exhaustion, but was wearing herself out.
Loelia and Valeray almost couldn't be more different if they tried. His sister worked her tail off to try and get strong enough to be any rank at all. She could be a Guider, he supposed, if she wanted, but that was about it. Or, she could be a miracle like Mars and manage to get her legs to work and go on to be a Commander one day.
Valeray didn't have such potential. He had been shoehorned into a role he never wanted from the start, and he was pissed about it. The tom lazed about as much as possible, and was a general nuisance to the Raisers who had trouble with forcing him to do anything, because he didn't care what kind of punishments they could lay into him. "Take a break once in a while. Pushing past exhaustion isn't going to help." The tom's voice was snappish as he sat down with a "Humph," next to where his sister was practicing.

Callistus-tyke watched his postmates from afar, curiosity drawing his attention away from the moss ball he'd been batting back and forth between his paws. The little she-kit seemed stubborn and disconnected from reality if she thought pushing herself like that would bring about any real change. Her body had been made that way by the Blind Protector for a reason, and trying to change it would only make the path she had to walk more difficult. He wasn't one to spout off his ideas unprovoked, however, and was satisfied to sit and just watch until he saw her fall and strike her chin.
With a gusty sigh, the tom stood up and fetched a piece of prey the raisers had sat out for snacks and brought it over to Loelia-tyke with a thoughtful look. "Here," he mewed, putting the meat down in front of her. "You need to eat. You might have the mental fortitude to push past your limits, but your body has limits of its own that can't be ignored. If you don't eat, the energy you're burning won't be converted to any muscle at all." He glanced over at Valeray, slight distaste for the tom's apathy and tendency to act out showing but quickly schooled away. "Listen to your brother. He's not wrong. And here," he nudged a ball of cold, damp moss towards her. "Use this on your chin to draw some of the pain out from that fall. It looked like it hurt."
She scrunched up her nose at Valeray-tyke, but when Callistus-tyke brought the prey over she looked even more mad. However her anger released last moment, "Thanks guys, I'm just really really scared right now! I heard some of the older cats talking and they said if I don't get better soon that I might be made a veteran or stuck as a tyke longer. I just really want to be able to walk like Commander Mars was able to do.
Loelia-tyke bit into they prey resting her chin on the mossball. She hadn't felt sore before, but now that she was resting she realized she could hardly move her front limbs from exhaustion.

"They're idiots anyway." Valeray answered flippantly, leaning down until he was on his stomach, head resting between his paws. "All that knowledge and experience from Mars, and they still can't seem to think 'hey, these things might take time' then they have no idea what they're doing. Don't give loud, dumb voices your ear." Though his voice was harsh, it was still perhaps one of the more encouraging things he'd said, assuring her that she didn't need to listen to the gossips and instead take things at a steady pace rather than rushing through it.
