Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.

Breasal was pretty much stuck in her nest today. She really couldn't even make it to the Garden. Even the soft sound of paws against the ground was gratingly loud, and her head pounded. One of the guiders was supposed to be returning with some herbs for her, but in the meantime, the Cadet was bed bound, trying her best to just ride it out. It wasn't an unusual pain, but that never did make it better. Even familiar pain was still pain, and though her pain tolerance in general was through the roof, she never had been good with the sort of hurt that a migraine brought.
She curled in tighter on herself as she heard the barest hint of steps closing in.
"Breasal, I brought you a wren," Cadet Havilah couldn't help but feel a pang of hunger as he approached his sister's nest with the bird in tow. He hadn't eaten since about this time yesterday and that meal had been meager. The Regime's situation with prey seemed to be improving however there were still a few cats who went to bed hungry, and he was usually among the first to volunteer. It was easier for him than most, he told himself. Cadet Havilah spent many moons of his life hungry. After his family was poisoned he refused to eat any prey that he himself had not caught and continued to live by this rule, "If you eat something you should feel better."
Cadet Havilah wasn't a very affectionate tom but he did have a soft spot for his weakest sister. She is the one who suffered most from the poisoning and to some extent the auburn tom felt guilty about it. She was such a sweet she-cat but her sickness had hardened her heart much the same way anger had hardened his. He sat down next to her and gently leaned his side against hers, careful as to not touch her head, which he knew to be the source of the worst of her pain.
(the Enchanted Forest is 100% sealed in RR now, right?)
She turned away from the pawsteps. Each one rattled around inside her skull like small explosions. A small groan escaped the feline, though she quickly recognized Havilah's voice. It didn't hurt as much as the others. Perhaps that was because he was family. "I don't think I can keep anything down." Breasal murmured in response, her voice almost too soft to be heard, though with his closeness, she expected he'd get it just fine. The mere scent of the prey made her stomach churn, though she knew if she didn't each or drink anything, that would just make her feel all the worse in a short while.
"I wish Emiko was still here, surely she would have something to ease the pain..." Although he knew she didn't, Havliah always thought of his cousin's treatments as the only ones worth receiving. He didn't trust healers anymore than he trusted the fresh-kill pile, but he did trust her. He laid his head down on his paws and released some deep rumbling purrs. If she wouldn't eat and wouldn't leave her nest then this was all he could offer; purring was known to have healing prosperities, after all, "I'm done with my morning duties so I'll stay here as long as you need."
"If Emiko were here, we'd probably be dead." Breasal answered though she seemed sad about that. The Guider had ended up going on a killing spree moons ago, trying to live up to Kotori's actions, it seemed. It was only by luck someone had lived to report that it was the she-cat. Even with that though... "I miss her." Some part of her didn't quite believe the she-cat would do that, even though she didn't doubt it was true. The rumbling of his purrs did help, however. Any little way was appreciated. Hopefully whoever showed up with herbs that were actually helpful. Some, she swore, just wanted to give her poppy seeds to get her to shut up, or thought she was overreacting.
"If it weren't for Emiko we wouldn't have survived the poison," Havilah corrected, shifting his weight slightly as he tried to make herself more comfortable. He didn't seem too upset to hear Breasal speak of their cousin / adoptive mother's so-called murderous rampage. It was a fact. He couldn't deny it. However, although he couldn't justify it, he wanted to trust that her actions had had some sort of redeeming meaning that he just hadn't been able to figure out yet, "I miss her, too. If she were here she would know just what you need to feel better."

"She always brought me moss soaked in melted snow. Cold and soothing." Breasal mused wistfully. Truthfully, murderer or not, Emiko had taken good care of her. When things became too much, she'd been there to keep her sane. Without her there, all those childhood comforts were long gone, and everything just seemed that much harder to bear.
"It'll be tough... there's not exactly a lot of snow on the ground right now... but I'll fetch you some if you want," Havilah offered, he was not always so helpful but he couldn't stand watching a regime-mate suffer when there was something he could do to help them. It just so happened that this one was also his sister, "Although I'd appreciate it if you'd give me a break and accept some spring water instead. It's just as cool." Was he trying to be funny? It was hard to tell, Havilah had never did have a sense of humor.

"Anything cold is better than the nothing they're giving." Breasal answered weakly. She appreciated the offer, and even if the spring water wouldn't be quite as good, anything and everything was preferable to nothing at all. And since the Guiders had no clue how to really help her as much as Emiko had, they really did help very little. Even if some tried their best.
