Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
It had probably been about an hour, after Bearspirit had left the camp to go on a walk, and she stopped and took stock of where she was. She had let her paws lead her, without much thought and now that she came to…well- That rock formation looked familiar, wasn’t the clump of trees that clump of trees, and that pile of muddy snow, she’d seen that before, hadn’t she? In fact, she was hopelessly lost, but she forced the worry away with a rumble of a purr. No matter – this was fine! She was in her territory this time around, she’d be able to find her way back, no problem.
But as time continued, as she trekked back, she realized that the sun had long ago set. Her paws hurt and her legs ached and she just wanted to be back in the camp. Bearspirit walked with her head low to the ground, exhausted. And just to make matters worse, she felt the ground drop underneath her, as she tumbled into an open pit. With a shriek of surprise, Bearspirit rolled in the air and tried to dig her claws into the side of the pit. She hissed in pain as her claws dragged along the dirt wall, not able to find a catch to hoist herself up. She fell to the ground with a thump, panting loudly, her eyes wide in panic. For a moment, she lay there.
Finally, she got to her paws, grumbling and wincing as they ached and screamed. Bearspirit attempted to climb out multiple times, though each time, she came sliding back; every time she landed on the floor again, she screamed out an expletive louder and louder, cursing out StarClan for putting her in this situation, her parents for never teaching her how to climb out of a pit when a heat wave was traveling through the Clan, and herself for thinking that a walk would do her well.
Bearspirit looked at the top of the pit, breathing heavily, her sides heaving with frustration and anxiety. Mud clung to her fur and it looked as though she had been dragged from the river. She would be stuck here: hungry, dirty, and exhausted, unless- Clenching her eyes closed, she let out a groan. Just above a whisper, she called out, “Help.” Sucking in a breath, she screamed out, humiliated in being in this situation, “Help! Help me! Somebody help me!! I’m stuck in this stupid pit! Just anyone, help!”

[ Thanks for your patience. Life is a whirlwind ♥ ]
Leatherstar had been assessing the recent snow melt with a air of concern. He hadn't expected this. And yet as days went by he could feel the sun heating his mocha brown pelt. He shook out his pelt as the sun began to set. He sighed. If the snow melt continued at this rate WinterClan would need to change its name. He joked inwardly as an effort to lighten his mood.
"Help!"
Leatherstar's head jerked up and his ears perked. It was a voice he knew but was not as well familiarized with. The large tom scented the air and his ears twitched towards the voice. He darted into the growth careful where he placed his paws. The last thing he needed was to be responsible for losing one of his remaining lives and the life of one of his clan mates.
He broke from the briars and looked down at the she-cat covered in mud and looking exhausted. "Hold on." he meowed keeping his voice low to keep the tension low as well. He leaned over sniffing her pelt for the scent of blood while also assessing the situation. If he tried to haul her out and the mud worked like a suction they would both be pulled in.
Frostcloud was heading back to camp. It was far too dangerous to be out at night, even if the temperatures at night weren't nearly as cold as they used to be. Still, predators came out at night and if you got lost, well, your stuck until daylight. They was not going to be her. The white she-cat was focused on her route home when a cry for help split the silent crisp air. She swiveled her gray ears toward the sound. "What now?" She hissed to herself, scolding herself for even taking in consideration to help someone who was dumb enough to be out here this time of day. Though, she figured since she was close enough to hear the cry directly, she may as well stop and see what was going on. Hopefully this wasn't some sound she heard bouncing off the mountain ridges.
As she followed in the direction of the cry, a brown tom came into view. He seemed to be staring down at something. Leatherstar? She recognized. What was he doing? She approached him and noticed he was staring into a pit, a cat had fallen in. "I suppose you need some help?" The white soldier suggested, unnaturally calm about a serious situation.
Her eyes dilated in surprise as Leatherstar first appeared and then – Frostcloud, wasn’t it? Bearspirit had seen Frostcloud around camp, though had steered clear of her, apparently the white she-cat was quite the ice queen. Bearspirit had guessed that Frostcloud wouldn’t have responded well to any interactions. This is a great place for introductions, Bearspirit thought dryly to herself.
Despite her exhaustion and the pain she felt, she couldn’t help but put on a show for the two of them. Cheerily, she waved up at them with her tail, giving them a muddy smile. “Oh good, you heard me! I could use some help, yeah,” she replied, giving Frostcloud a nod, “I’m not too fond of being stuck in this StarClan-forbidden pit any longer.” As Leatherstar inched closer, she called out, a bit of worry in her voice, “Careful though, it’s quite slippery up there – I wouldn’t want either of you to slip in.”
After a rather violent sneeze, she shuddered a bit, the night air feeling frigid against her mud-slick fur. “Now – uh, I don’t mean to rush either of you, but any plans for getting me out would be very much appreciated.” She glanced up at the moon, the grin wavering, before meeting Leatherstar’s and Frostcloud’s gaze. “Lemme know if you need me to do anything, I don’t think I injured myself too badly.” The only thing that really hurt was her right shoulder and Bearspirit winced when she rolled it experimentally – she must’ve landed on it when she had tumbled down.
Frostcloud thought for a moment. She was never on the rescue team but she had accompanied a couple of them. If they could find a vine, they could lower it and pull Bearspirit out. Unfortunately, not many vines grew in this weather. Not really much of anything. "We could find a sturdy enough log and put it down into the pit and she could climb out." Frostcloud suggested, looking down into the pit. It didnt seem too deep but it was deep enough that a cat couldn't easily jump out of it. But perhaps a big enough log could at least get her high enough that she can jump out of the pit.
“Oh, wow, a log! Well if that’s what you plan on doing, please make sure that you don’t knock me on the head. That wouldn’t be good at all!” Even though Bearspirit laughed, her voice rose an octave at that thought and she had to force herself not to shiver in fear. “Could you make a decision soon? It’s really cold and I’m not sure if I’ll lock into place when the mud freezes over.” Again, another joke, but the laugh this time was much weaker than the first.
The smile slipped off Bearspirit's face and her lip curled back into a snarl. "You wouldn't dare, not with him there." She gestured to Leatherstar, glaring daggers at Frostcloud.
"Oh, I would dare. So I suggest you be a good little kitty, now." She laughed, turning to look for a log. Soon, she found one that should work. She pressed her head to it and rolled it to the edge of the pit. Then, she pushed one end over the edge and it landed up right with a hollow thump. "Okay, you can climb up, now."
“Guess the rumors are true,” Bearspirit muttered under her breath, her tail lashing from side to side. She had thought that everyone saying what an ice princess Frostcloud had been just a lie, but apparently it was. At least Leatherstar was there to make sure that she still got out. Still grumbling under her breath, she padded up the log. It took a little longer than she would’ve liked, her mud slicked paws made it difficult to climb and she had to heave herself up with her claws in the log. Finally making it to the top, she shook herself off, spraying mud everywhere.
“Thanks, I guess,” she said, eyeing Frostcloud warily.
Bearspirit let out a stiff snort, before turning away from Frostcloud. “Sure, next time,” she muttered under her breath, before starting to pad back to camp.
