Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Today, Woodpaw noticed, had been quite boring. Yes, today he had barely done anything except sit and sort through his rock collection. Of course, he loved his rocks, but sometimes he had to get out and do something else. Patting the ground beside the small stones with his white paw, the skinny brown tom stood up. “Bye, rockies, I will see you tomorrow.” He hummed, pudding away from the collection beside the nursery. He should move that sometime.
Flopping onto the ground near the prey-pile, Woodpaw rolled onto his back and stared at the slowly darkening sky. Twilight painted the once blue expanse, and a star glittered somewhere far away. “Good night, Mr. Sun.” He purred, reaching out his paws. “I wanna do something.” He chatted to himself, twitching his thin tail. “Like an adventure, or—or...” Maybe he should just try and make a new friend. He didn’t have any. Actually, he had none. Letting out a crackly laugh at nothing, Woodpaw continued to hum quietly to himself. Yes, all he needed was a friend.
It was that time of day where Twilightpaw could finally feel herself relaxing as the sun slowly rolled down the distant mountains, her anxious heart finally settling down. She made her way past the nursery, rolling her shoulders, but not quite ready to call it a day just yet. After all, it was now her favorite time of day, and her namesake at that. So, she paused, tilting her head as she gazed at the apprentice den with eyes the color of the darkening sky. Then, without another thought, she spun on her heels, her mind making itself up without even her own approval. Today definitely wasn't done yet!
Twisting onto his belly, Woodpaw gazed curiously at Twilightpaw—an apprentice he had personally never spoke to. “Oh—hey!” He called, his voice a middle-pitched mess. Getting to his paws, he padded towards her, skipping on his white paws. “Hey Twilightpaw!” He greeted with a big smile. He wondered if she even wanted to talk to him—but if she didn’t, would she just say so? Flicking his ears, the apprentice jumped in front of her. “Watcha’ up too? I’m kinda bored right now, but I’m way to awake to go asleep. Maybe we could do something, like a playdate, or whatever.” He chatted happily, bobbing on his toes. “Or maybe you can see my rock collection!”
The sudden appearance of Woodpaw made Twilightpaw jump, her fur on edge as she realized that she hadn't actually been paying attention to her surroundings. She should relax, the sun was setting which meant everything would be okay. She took a deep breath, then replied, "A playdate?" It had been a long time since she had heard that word. Normally, she would have loved to take up his suggestion of looking at the rock collection, but she had seen this apprentice with a pile of rocks behind the nursery before, and, right now, Twilightpaw really wanted to get out of camp. "We could look for some rocks by the river," she suggested. "Or maybe the frozen lake. Or the swamp!"
He laughed sheepishly at the startled she-cat. “Oops, sorry, didn’t mean to scare you. But I’ve gotta say it’s an accomplishment, nobody is ever scared of me. They’re just weirded out.” He laughed again, this time less nervous and more joyful. “Oh yes! That sounds like so much fun! I love exploring, it lets me find new things that I’ve never seen before. I really like discovering things, because learning is fun and very important.” He rambled, unaware of his constant talking.
“Come on!” He purred, bounding towards the camp exit. “Oh, oh, I can’t wait!”
